I'm glad I finally got a chance to try it. The deli is the main attraction, and we got a couple sandwiches. I got a reuben, their leanest cut, and it was really good. There was so much meat--too much for me, but it is super filling. They also have a bakery, though I didn't pick anything up from there. There's lots of soups, too, which I'll probably pick up if I visit again. There are some specialty foods, and they have some tables both in and outside if you'd like to stay a while.

Place the order at one end of the counter and you pick it all the way on the end. They take the sandwich in back to finish it. I ordered a corned beef on an onion roll. While I waited they have a nice selection of baked goods. Cookies, bread and desserts!! The decor is eclectic with nice nods to delis. I received my sandwich and ate outside, because the indoor dining area was full. My sandwich was really good, I would like a little extra mustard next time. The meat was tender and flavorful. The pickles they give you are top notch.

The staff was very friendly and informative as it was our first time here. Aside from bagels they have a variety of sandwiches, soups, and a pharmacy in the back! They have limited indoor seating but if it's a nice day, may be worth sitting outside on their patio.

I'm very disappointed with my experience with JB's Deli today…read more I ordered two Reuben sandwiches and a Cobb salad, with a total bill of approximately $65. The Reubens were OK, although I found them to be fairly dry. More concerning, however, was what happened with the salad. The Cobb salad came with two packets of blue cheese dressing. When I opened one and put it on the salad, I noticed that the color looked unusual. I checked the packet and discovered that the Best By date was November 23, 2025, nine months past the date. Obviously, I did not feel comfortable eating the salad and had to throw it away. It also left me questioning whether the other food I received was handled appropriately. I am now concerned about whether the Thousand Island dressing served on the Reubens was also expired. I attempted to contact the deli to give them an opportunity to address the issue. The first time I called, someone answered but there was dead air and then they hung up. I called again and explained the situation to a woman who answered. She apologized and asked me to hold a moment. I waited on hold for 10 minutes before giving up. When I called back again, no one answered. Mistakes can happen, but serving a customer two dressing packets that are nine months past their Best By date is a serious food-safety and quality-control issue. What has made the experience even more frustrating is that, after spending $65, I have been unable to get a meaningful response from the restaurant. For this reason, I will be disputing my credit card charge and will not be returning to JB's Deli. I hope management takes this seriously, reviews the dates on their prepared foods and condiments, and addresses how customer food-safety concerns are handled.

Everything I bought was certainly fresh. The kajmak (buttery cheese spread), urnebes (spicy red pepper and cheese spread), suvi vrat (smoked pork shoulder), and roasted red peppers were all excellent. I will be back to try some smoked sausages, and cevapi on their grill. I was a customer at the original D.S.D. location on Lawrence that closed over 10 years ago, which had been open since the 1960's. Moved on to George's until they also closed a few years later. Imagine my surprise seeing "D.S.D. Deli" on google maps, so glad to see an old favorite back in business. This is a new location, but the same quality Serbian food that I loved at the old location. Very important to support local and family owned business, which are the fabric of our community. Sadly some people don't understand that.

Was a nice hearty meal to some spend time, waiting for the Burek, while some soccer played. The service and ambiance inside is great and hospitable they're nice people, just like many Balkan places. Would highly recommend giving it a try. The crowd is a lot of Balkan folks but they get excited about non-Balkan people coming to enjoy their excellent food. So far the best Serbian place I've had in the Chicagoland. Their Burek was life-changing. It was gone in less than 24 hours.
