I have been a subscriber to Forward since 2019 and I have since convinced my wife to do the same. The level of care is far and above any we have ever received before. Your time spent with the doctor is longer than in any other office I've been in. Plus, the doctor is listening to you and not typing things into his computer because there is a medical scrip taking notes of what he says and you say the entire time. He's paying complete attention to you. Bloodwork is done in-house, you get the results the same day or while you wait for no additional charge. My current doctor is Dr. Hodes and he knows me. He knows my wife. He isn't so overwhelmed with patients that I'm otherwise just a number. The messaging service is also fantastic. Once, my wife sustained a liquid burn on her hand and by sending a picture through the app, she was prescribed a cream immediately (on a Sunday) and she was able to get it and use it the same day. Yes, it is concierge medicine, but when you count up all your co-pays that you no longer have to pay, I think this is a fair deal, especially if you really care about your health. read more

Forward has been a great investment thus far. My wife and I both go to the new one in DC and have nothing but praises to sing. We both see two different doctors, but I went to her initial appointment so I've met both. After I met her doctor I wanted to change mine before my appointment because he was so good. But I'm glad I didn't, because David is amazing as well!! Everyone there is super friendly, very knowledgeable, and really want you to understand everything that's going on. The technology there is mind blowing! I've never been this excited about going back to the doctors office. They are also super responsive. You stay connected with them via an app and can send messages at any time of day. Just last night I sent them my 23andMe results (they give you a free test with registration) at 1:03am and got a response back at 1:20am saying it was received. Crazy!! May 20, 2024 While generally pleased with the professional (Ie. licensed provider .and med tech staff) care with Forward, and the general in-clinic experience... overall, the admin side and follow up has declined beyond my liking. Follow up is abysmal: ** You never know who you are interacting with: a desk person or a professional provider. **Increasingly over the past 4.5 years, many questions have gone unanswered, refills not filled in a timely way, repeated requests for clarification have been delayed by days and weeks, appointment cards are filled out incorrectly, requests via the app and via email to talk with a real person by phone have been ignored, ** Then there was the lab billing snafu: In Aug. 2023, I had a number of very standard tests drawn, all but one of one of which were going to be paid by Forward. (One unusual test was required by an outside agency for something else, and I knew i'd have to pay for that one.) All the other tests were follow-up for ongoing problems. In early December 2023 (4 months after!) the lab said my account was Past Due. That was a surprise to me. I wrote Forward immediately, requesting payment. Over the next 3 months, including the holidays, they dithered about not being able to contact Quest labs. In the meantime, MY credit was being dinged! Overall, this was quite stressful. Finally in late Feb., after at least a dozen text exchanges, Forward told me that they could not cover the tests bc of paperwork?? So I got stuck with almost $700 worth of tests, for which they offered me 2 month free services. We finally negotiated 2 more months, and even then they still tried to charge me until I caught it and protested. Today they say they can no longer cover any lab tests unless done in house (and the ones done in house are quite minimal!) They never communicated this change to their patients. They do not even do in-house A1c tests, which are very easy to do and not expensive. For the $150/month fee i'm paying, standard tests should be covered. In early Dec. 2023, I became ill. My throat developed soreness with a pain score of 8+. I figured I had strep throat. Couldn't get an appt for FIVE days! Finally after arguing, they squeezed me in the next day. The rapid strep in the office was negative. They wanted a Covid test, even tho I had no standard covid symptoms. But they were going to send out that test, which would have cost me a lab fee! So I declined that test. (Upon my return home, I )took a home covid test, which turned out positive. My symptoms were very not standard for covid!) In January 2024, @NateFavini, (the head of Forward, sent out an email requesting a positive review. I did not submit any review at that time, but did reply directly to him, requesting a talk about the continued problems I was having with Forward. No one every replied. At least two virtual visits failed, even tho I had logged into the system and was waiting for the doc to show up. The connection never was made. I do not at all recommend Forward -- they have not been cost-effective for me and the service overall is poor. read more

While I loved the care I received from the Forward team, I am extremely disappointed that I received an email from the team yesterday, 11/12/2024, informing me the offices have closed permanently, the app is no longer accessible, and all appointments are cancelled. I was a Forward Member for a few months - at first I really enjoyed the service. It was great to get quick responses through the ap and the doc appointments I had were thorough and some of the best care I have ever received (like seriously why can't all appointments be like this). But after the initial visit and some back and forth emails over the app, the $149 a month on top of my insurance just go to be too much money. That's about $1800 on top of insurance payments. During the "downtime" in between appointments, I wasn't really sure what I was paying for. I do like the overall concept of focusing on preventative care and helping stop problems before they start. Meanwhile, I am having a very hard time getting through to a human there to get my medical records transferred over to a new provider - so all that fancy data is sitting there and I can't get to it. read more

I have been a forward member for six months, and will be ending my membership today. I was impressed during my first visit to go forward. The facility is incredible, the staff is excellent, and the service was the best I have ever received. However, as a member you will only have access to that office once a year for your baseline visit / annual checkup. When you are sick and need medical attention, you are forced to chat with an AI program about your systems, that gives you useless home remedy treatments that you can find by googling your symptoms. If you would like to receive actual medical care, you will go to a separate non affiliated Urgent Care. Appointments are weeks out, and useless because you will no longer be sick by the date your appointment arrives. Forward's scheduling policy is to give priority to new member baseline visits rather than members who need medical attention. Who will go forward's service benefit? Young people who visit the doctor once a year and do not have any type of health issues or regular prescriptions to manage. Who will be very disappointed with go forward's service? Any person who needs to see their doctor more than once a year, or has a regular prescription to manage. read more

Other than packaging and presentation, this office doesn't offer anything more than a standard doctor's office- in fact they offer much less in some regards, at a higher price. Even some of the medical technology they tout as unique or exclusive (such as the AccuVein vein finder) I've seen at ordinary medical practices in the area. The concept that this office sells is that millennials who are already healthy and don't need much from their doctor will pay high prices for a fancy and comfortable office, even if they aren't getting much real value for their money. read more

The staff and doctor Kunzo was thorough with my medical history and actually listened to me.i already got my lab results and in one week will do tests in the office and talk about nutrition. My appointment really felt like a window into the future of primary care medicine. The next logical step in the quantified self movement is to grant doctors access to the wealth of data that is being collected. It was also very apparent that a lot of thinking had gone into the whole experience from a patient's perspective. Small touches like having healthy snacks and water available for you right after your blood test to letting you wait in your own room with a comfortable chair instead of a lobby really add up to a positive feeling. read more

I heard about Forward about a year ago in the news. Being a tech nerd, I was excited to hear it was coming to DC. I had my first appointment last week with David Popiel. I arrived to my appointment a few minutes early, so my appointment started early. The medical assistant took my to the body scanner where it grabbed my temp, heart rate, respiratory rate and weight... maybe even an EKG. Then I was shown to the exam room. The MA took my blood... like a LOT of blood to run my baseline tests and any other tests the doctor wanted run. She left me some snacks to eat afterwards since I had been fasting. The doctor came in and introduced himself by first name only. The visit was very relaxed... like a normal conversation. A few minutes into the visit, all my lab work I had taken upon arrival showed up on the massive TV screen. David took the time to address all of the labs one by one. Went over my past medical history and addressed any concerns or questions I had. Overall, the visit took about an hour. When was the last time a doctor spent that much time with you? After the visit, my app "unlocked". All my labs populated so I could view them on my own. You can ask questions... review visit notes. It's all very empowering as a patient. I'm a pretty healthy adult in the medical field... so while this is more expensive than other options... I'm excited to be a part of the start of a new primary care model. read more

I enjoy going to Forward. You get seen immediately. The doctors listen to you. Your records are there. The app is easy to use. I highly recommend. There is only one thing stopping me from giving them 5 stars. If there was a way to access everything through a website instead of the app which would make somethings easier. Also, uploading files that you already have can be a little tricky. It's adjusted to taking photos or uploading photos from your immediate photo library, but if you have a PDF on your Google drive, that will not be so easy. Other than that, everything is awesome. Everyone is nice, kind, outgoing, forthright about testing, and laps, whats included and what is not. Helped me setup a basic health care plan to keep hereditary ailments at bay, and how to keep them down moving forward. They even helped me setup a 23 and me to see hereditary problems that may be lying in wait. read more

The whole experience was great. App was great if you are in the iPhone ecosystem for connecting to other things like fitness tracking. I've had a good experience with prescriptions and interacting with the folks on the other side of chat. This is the way that a doctor's office should be. It's a luxury, but what a great system. While my first appointment was fine, I've been disappointed with the follow-up...the doc had some concerns following a test, and it took a week - and a lot of prodding - to get a referral. Several times I asked the Care Team why it was taking so long and when I would receive a referral, I didn't receive direct answers to my question. When I tried to get in touch with the customer service rep that had been responsive to my calls/text messages when I was contemplating whether or not to sign up for Forward to share this feedback, I did not receive a response to my text or voicemail which was also super frustrating. I'm surprised that a service like Forward isn't more transparent and responsive to clients, especially given what I'm paying. Yes, the technology is fancy, but honestly the app could use an overhaul as I don't find it to be very user friendly and have found it to be buggy. read more

We went over absolutely everything and I think have fairly good knowledge of blood work breakdown :) but he definitely taught me more in order to get my health better and optimize my current work and personal schedule as well as diet and mindset. Overall, I was very impressed with my first visit. We were able to see what I need to work on right away and the technology was amazing. Only thing I was disappointed about and this only my situation, I said I need help knowing what foods to eat and not eat. I got a vague answer and was told we would go more in depth on that before I signed up. The 24/7 being able to leave messages has been great. I was in somebpain at 2:30am and left a message. Appointment times are further out than ever before (way longer than one medical), the chat functionality is horrible and disjointed to the point of being incredibly frustrating and not useful, I've needed two referrals and both have had issues by the virtual medical team, and it's been 4 business days with no response from my doctor on a serious issue. This would be an incredibly disappointing experience even if they weren't charging $150 per month. Absolutely terrible. read more

Android app integration. Android app integration, fitness tracking, sleep tracking, etc. does not exist. I joined Forward over a year ago (August 2019) and during the initial sales call I was told that the Android app integration was coming soon. Over a year later (October 2020) I was told again that the Android app integration is still "coming soon." I'm not sure how Forward defines "coming soon" but to me, taking more than a year is not "coming soon." Taking over a year and not having any Android app integration is basically a "pants on fire" level lie. The Fish tank. When you first enter the Forward office in DC you enter a glass fish tank reception area where you will get your initial screening. In public, you'll be weighed and measured as people pass you on the sidewalk watching you. If the angle is just right a passerby will be able to see all of your data, your weight, your pulse, your blood oxygen level, etc. In a typical doctor's office before you are weighed and measured you have a chance to take off your coat, shoes, put down your wallet or purse, your cell phone, to get an accurate weight. Forward doesn't give you that chance. Trying to take off your shoes, coat, wallet, phone, etc. is super awkward while you're in the fish tank, with only two chairs, no privacy, and passersby watching. Also, there's no private place to store your wallet or purse, phone, or other valuable items. Instead you just have to leave your valuables on a little coffee table, behind you where you can't watch them, as your initial screening is happening. Any opportunist could run in steal them and run out. There's no security in the front room to stop them and I don't think the receptionist is going to tackle the thief. Genetic Risk Analysis. It takes much longer than advertised on the website. They have you take a 23andMe test kit home, take the test on your own time, and send it to 23andME for analysis. The initial analysis from 23andMe is fast and your results come quickly. Then you find out from Forward that you have to email them the full genome analysis from 23andMe. You have to request it wait a while and get the initial analysis. Now you have to send that genome analysis to Forward for analyzation by your doctor. Then you wait, and wait, and wait some more. Finally, after a long time (months in my case) your doctor will tell you they are ready to have an appointment with you to review your genetic analysis. You would think that since Forward is a modern tech startup they could just upload the data into your app and you could review it on your own time and if you have any questions, you could schedule an appointment but that is not the case. You have to see the doctor before they'll give you your data. Remember it's your data not theirs and they will hold it hostage until you do what they want. This doesn't happen with just the genetic analysis, it happens with all the test results, cholesterol, insulin levels, etc. The pattern for me was always take this test then you have to do this thing (schedule an appointment) before we will give you the results. Good part: If you needed to schedule a test for something or get a medication refilled the people responding in the app were generally responded very quickly. read more

I cant stop referring and raving about Forward! Its been a great investment in my health as well as affordable. I am blown away at the affordability, the technology utilized, as well as the professionalism and responsiveness of the organization. They are extremely responsive and treat you like you are their top priority. Upon entering, I was the only one in the waiting room. From my moment of entry until I left, all staff I encountered were extremely personable and made me feel like I was their top priority. After getting my blood drawn, I was treated to quality snacks and had my choice of sparkling or regular water. Within minutes of getting my blood drawn, my doctor entered and I was blown away, again, at how personalized the visit was. There is someone listening and taking notes outside of the room so the doctor can fully engage with you as if its a personal and intimate conversation. They use a gigantic screen to project your results and everything is so detailed and easy to understand. If at anytime you have questions or want more information, you can easily ask in real time or you can ask the care team in the app. They are also very clear about what is covered in your plan as well as what will have to be covered by you/insurance company. I appreciate this so much so that there isnt any hidden fees or surprises. They also quickly connected with my other doctors and providers to obtain my records so they can have everything in one place as well as work together to support my health plan. During my time in the office, I did not encounter any other patient. They have been really great to ensure patients feel safe during COVID. Upon leaving, all of the information was available in my app as well as reminders on what my next steps are for optimal health. So thankful I found Forward and appreciate it on top of my current insurance. They run a deal for $99 a month so make sure to ask for this so you dont pay the normal rate of $149. read more

So moved by their prompt, compassionate, understanding, thorough & immediate help after we brought this confusion to their attention on Yelp. My husband was originally very impressed with his doctor and the prospects of what Forward might offer, but we had to change our plans because of the pandemic/COVID. I do not have insurance, so I was excited to learn about Forward. I do not get sick very often, but still wanted to have a place that I felt I could get the care I needed in the event that I do. My baseline went very well. All of the staff was very friendly and office very nice and clean and modern. I was really helpful to have bloodtest results shown on screen and able to go over them with doctor in person instead of getting them via email and having no idea what they mean. Great experience! I really didn't know what to fully expect. However, My visit was beyond my expectations from the moment I step in into the office your greeted with smiles and positive vibes they made me feel like long time family friends. Very welcoming! Nurses asst., Nurse, Doctors are all terrific, very knowledgable, passionate about your health and needs with superb bed side manners. Most importantly there's no 1 to 2 hour wait time if your appointment is at 9 your being seen at 9 well once your signed in and body is scanned your set. The staff provided updates via the app on details that were helpful including filling in gaps where responses were needed. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and have had to see, so many, different doctors and specialists that I definitely can tell a great doctor who truly cares for his patients. Dr Henderson is definitely that kind of doctor. I love his approach. He has always made sure I have tried other methods of relief like PT, bracing, etc beforehand. He has done several surgeries on me and I can tell he does what is best for me. He always views my imaging, and not just the scan report. I wish all doctors could do this and give their opinion as well. Dr Henderson, without hesitation, has came in to work just for me on days he could have been off and with his family. He has gone above and beyond to help me. He has been my neurosurgeon since 2013 up to the present (December 2020). My husband and I have always been able to get in contact with him. I take great comfort knowing he his there when I need him. The surgical incisions he makes are beautiful and straight. I admire him too for his achievements and advocacy for patients with EDS, Chiari Malformation, tethered cord, and so forth. This man has allowed me to be able to be with my family and to do my art. I spent about 1 1/2 hours at my first appointment and felt really heard. It's the first time seeing a doctor that didn't feel rushed. I've had several follow up conversations through the app. The business model is easy to use and gathers all of your medical info in once place. I like data-based diagnosis. This for me is worth the monthly fee. I really enjoyed that the doctor was able to talk with me without focusing on taking notes. I like having all my data inside the application and I can ask questions directly from my phone. I feel like my current PCP is trying to get through to the next patient, at Forward, I felt like I was not being rushed to an answer for a prescription to solve my problem. They can have consultations on my nutrition, exercises, etc. This is something that I am not able to get from my current PCP. Overall, I am extremely impressed with this service. read more
