There are two doctors at the comprehensive primary care office in Woodley Park. Both doctors are good. Dr. Shotashvili, is my favorite by far. But it's too bad I can't make an appointment because the telephone system doesn't work. Every time I try to call I get nowhere, so I'm not able to make appointments by using the telephone. When I finally after 45 minutes reached a human, I was connected to the Dr.Niworth. I had to talk to him because I had a negative reaction to a medicine. In order to make an appointment, he forwarded my phone call to the front desk. When I asked why they had not been answering their phones I was told the phone never rang here. When I get to talk to people, everything works like a charm but the phone system is horrendous. It's like something out of the middle ages. I hope they read this and can fix it. read more

Save yourself time and money and do not go here. I got extremely sick and a dr here ordered me tests for rapid flu, rapid strep, and upper respiratory tests. Over 24 hours later, I still had no results. I kept calling the clinic asking if they could prescribe me anything because I was the sickest I had ever felt. They said that it could take days for my "rapid" results to come back - how is that rapid? I felt so sick I didn't have a few more days to wait it out without medicine. They then told me I should go to another doctor or urgent care. Why would I do that? I just saw them the day before. Then they went back on what they said about the tests taking days, and tried to tell me that because I'm a new patient I was probably too confused to figure out how to see my results in the app. I can literally see that it still says no results - and the upper respiratory test they took isn't even listed on there. They also said my condition didn't warrant any antibiotics. I went to another doctor and they immediately prescribed me antibiotics and I feel much better. Overall was a huge waste of time and money, I stayed sicker much longer than I needed to. Everyone I interacted with here had different things to say about their policies and what was going on etc. It all felt very schemey and unorganized and like no one actually wanted to help me. I don't normally rate physicians on Yelp, but Comprehensive Primary Care has served as my primary care for several years now, and I have always had a good experience. Jennifer Hunter is knowledgeable and quick to respond to messages in the patient portal, which helps cut down on unnecessary in-office visits. Scheduling online is easy, and the office offers a clinic with extended and weekend hours, which is fantastic--sickness and medical issues don't always pop up just during the regular 9 AM-5 PM time. I appreciate that the office has a variety of educational materials and brochures on a host of different conditions, and they're also good about making referrals to outside specialists when needed. Add to this the easy accessibility on the U Street stop, and this will probably be my main doctor's office for years to come. read more

I've been a patient here since 2018. I've always been appreciative of their online portal where you can see your prescriptions, lab results and message with clinicans. Getting appointments has been easy and the I received feels genuine, respectful, and professional. The facility itself is very clean and calm. Not overly frilly or dramatic in any way. The only reason I'm going with four stars instead of five is because over the years, I don't think I've ever consistently seen one person for my annual care or urgent Care needs. Sometimes a provider leaves the practice and I totally understand that, but oftentimes it's just because I don't really care who I see. I don't think that I have enough of a unique health situation that requires an ongoing relationship with just one provided. I went here and had a good experience, but then my husband had an awful one. He made an appointment and the morning of, it was randomly cancelled without explanation. So, he made another appointment for 9AM this morning. There was construction on their street, making it difficult for him to get his car through. He arrived around 9:10, filled out all the paperwork, and sat down to wait. A nurse then told him at 9:20 that they gave a 15min grace period and would therefore need to reschedule with him. I'm really surprised by the negative reviews. I loved going to Comprehensive Primary Care - I last was there in April 2018, so maybe something changed since then? I saw Dr. Mendiratta, who was AMAZING. Incredibly good bedside manner, took the time to speak with me about all of my concerns and explain everything that she was doing. I'm also phobic of needles, and she and one of the nurses were incredibly patient with me when I had to get my blood drawn. This review is for the phone service. I just called to make an appointment. I waited on hold for 23 minutes. When someone answered, she let me ask a few questions and then hung up the phone on me. In the middle of the conversation. "Will you be leaving the note for the doctor?" I asked. "No, I won't," she said. "If you could also- " I started, and she hung up the phone after I wasted my time for 20 minutes. I'm so unbelievably appalled. I've been a patient here for a long time. I hope someone from CPC sees this and reaches out to apologize and then actually try to help because this is ridiculous and it should not be this difficult to get a question to your primary care doctor. I came here on the recommendation of a coworker after 2 months of searching for a new doctor. I had my first visit with Jennifer, a nurse practitioner who I absolutely loved! She was thorough, friendly and professional. I didn't feel rushed during the visit and was able to discuss in detail all my concerns. I left the visit feeling listened to and cared for. So it's been a few months and I've been seeing Dr. Mendiratta more than I talk with my childhood BFF so I figured it was time for an update. Now, I know I raved about how awesome my primary care doctor was in the first review, but I think she deserves another shout out! Dr. Mendiratta is one of the most attentive doctors I have ever had. Not only is she super attentive, but her level of professionalism is by far second to none. She makes you feel like you're the only patient in the world, all while being down-to-earth at the same time. I know she's my doctor, but she almost feels like a friend. She takes the time to hear you out, and you feel like she's really concerned with your overall well being. Not just physical well being but overall well being. When my mom was ill (before she passed and even after she passed), Dr. Mendiratta listened to me time and time again about how I was feeling about what was going on with my mom. She took the time to care. She's an amazing doctor that has qualities that a lot of docs these days don't have. Now the billing department has gotten a little better since my last review, but there's still some room to grow. But overall, THIS SPECIFIC Comprehensive Primary Care facility is one of the best doctor's office you could ever choose to go to. read more

I had my first ever appointment with comprehensive primary care today with Jennifer Hunter. I have never been so pleased with a first time appointment. Upon arriving there was a little bit of complication with my Insurance card but the friendly staff woman at the front desk was patient and was able to finally confirm that I was covered. I then was immediately brought back to begin my physical exam. I had an 8 AM appointment and I was extremely pleased that I really did not have to wait at all like I have in the past that most doctors offices. Jennifer came in almost immediately and made me feel at ease. She was thorough, took her time with me and I did not feel rushed at all. Besides my annual physical I had a few questions which she was patient in answering. The checkout process was very simple and I was extremely pleased. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jennifer. I am so lucky that I found this location which is extremely convenient for anyone living in the Shaw/ U Street neighborhood and that I was assigned to Jennifer and I look forward to going to see her again in the future. Physician bedside manner is good but the overall experience and organization of the office is appalling. I submit a refill request Thursday AM and my pharmacy has yet to receive the refill as of Tuesday PM. I called multiple times Friday and today notifying the office I am completely out of medication. Important to note I am only out of medication because the wrong prescription was sent last month and never rectified despite my notifying my doctor (two phone calls and a message via portal). Save yourself countless phone calls and hassle and find another office that takes better care of patient needs. read more

The front desk staff is not helpful at all. I came in person to get a test done and was told to come in next morning and the order will be ready. I informed them that I was traveling and had to be out by 8am. I get to the office early morning to find out they have no idea cost of test and the physician order is not in the system. They didn't know exactly when the doctor would be in to write the order. It was such a waste of time. I liked my PCP when i met her but now I don't ever want to go back to this office. read more

This place is a joke. I have been here 3 times and have had a different provider each of those. The first doctor I had I loved but moved to a new location that was too far. The second provider was fine, until I scheduled a follow up and was called last minute to reschedule my appt. I ended up seeing someone different in which I had discussions about a certain medication after my labs came back. She said a call to discuss options would happen but when I reached out to my new doctor (her asst; NOT HER) said that specific provider was leaving. I was asked to schedule yet another unnecessary follow up appt for something that could have bee done over the phone or telemed in minutes. As others have mentioned this is not a frill place don't get a sense of warmness. i spoke to another provider one day later and took care of all my needs in one tele-health call. this place is just set out for MONEY and cant seem to retain any staff unfortunately. read more

Someone else on here said it perfectly: this is a no frills healthcare experience. It started off rough when my appointment booked through Zocdoc was randomly canceled without an offer to reschedule. When I rescheduled, no one ever confirmed. When I called to confirm, they had clearly not looked at their Zocdoc requests because I was still not on the schedule. The office seems pretty low tech and is definitely an older building. One of the front desk people appeared to be bickering with her child on the phone when I came in and didn't stop while I waited. I was a new patient but no one asked me to fill out my medical history, asked for my medical records from my former PCP, or called in advance to tell me I should fast for blood work. When the provider entered the room, rather than saying something like "what brings you in?" she abruptly hit me with "what are your medical problems?" I think she could tell I was thrown off by my stuttered response and then actually looked up from her paperwork and engaged with me. When I asked about what I thought to be a lump in my breast, she sort of laughed when she said she wasn't feeling anything. I felt a little silly. The nurse who tried to do my blood draw missed the vein, gave up, and called over the phlebotomist. The phlebotomist was not wearing a mask and had pretty clearly showed up to work late. I will say, the appointment started on time and I was out within an hour. Maybe that's all you can ask of modern medicine. I'll give it another try before deciding if I want to explore a different PCP. read more

Comprehensive(CPC) bought my former doctors practice - unfortunately CPC is poorly administered and where problems arise with with, for example, patients getting prescriptions transmitted to pharmacies or written out, all too often screws up. In one instance, for months a prescription I had taken for years failed to transmit to my pharmacy - only after I pressed the issue with CPC did I learn, from one of their nurses, that their software had a glitch that did not allow the transmission or faxing of this this medication to my pharmacy. On another occasion, the doctor directed an employee to write out a prescription for me - I arranged for a messenger to pick it up and take it to a nearby pharmacy. I learned later the employee reduced the number of tablets the doctor had prescribed - when I learned this and asked why, she falsely claimed the doctor had refused to rpescribe the number of tablet he had, in fact, authorized. Recently, despite being assured two rXs would be available to me when the office opened, they were not there - the receptionist agreed to find out where they were and call me. I received no call - after 3 hours - it turned out the office supervisor wittheld the prescriptions, presumably to delay my being able to obtain them. I tried to reacch her supervisor and left a message for her supervisor to call me. As in past situations, I received no call, It appears the doctors do not correct such situations, either. I've decided there is no alternative but to find a new doctor, with no relationship to cPC read more

Went here once last weekend. Nurse practitioner Jenny was great, but the receptionist was extremely rude. I called in regards to my xray and she would give me attitude, put me on long holds, and when I called back I was put through voicemail right away. One time they even picked up and hung up right away. I tried calling with my office number two seconds after my cell attempt and she picked up. So she clearly saw my number and rejected my call. I know it can be hard to find a doctor in DC so I thought I would leave a review here. I have seen both NPs, Nurse Anna and Nurse Meredith, and they are great. The practice is awesome for checkups, refilling prescriptions, and minor illnesses, and they have a list of recommended specialists to see if needed. They are on Zocdoc so it's easy to make an appointment. The only thing I don't like about this location is that there are always people loitering outside around the 7-11 and I have been harassed a few times when entering or leaving the building. read more

After trying to find a Primary Care Physician for a long time, I'm happy to have finally found Dr. Mendiratta. Her office is in a very convenient location and close to the U Street Metro. The Doctors and Nurse Practitioners are highly professional--very thorough, take their time and are knowledgeable. I've been able to get same-day appointments for illnesses and I've been able to able to schedule check-ups, flu shots, etc. within a few days. I've recommended the U Street practice to many of my coworkers and friends. The only annoyance is that the office typically can't produce itemized receipts after an appointment. You have to follow-up by email or phone call and hope that you will get one eventually. With flex spending accounts, needing an itemized receipt is common practice so I wish it could be a bit easier to get one. I'll take the small annoyance for a good practice any day though. read more

Doctors are great, support staff is abysmal. Typical to have to call 3-5 times to get a prescription refilled. When you speak to a receptionist they often redirect your call to a voicemail which is the same voicemail you've already left your message on multiple times. Even login is simple. I'm a person that often forgets passwords and so using a one-time code texted to me is great. TERRIBLE. All the positive reviews can't be true. They ran blood tests but never called me with the results. 2 months later, I had to call them several times. Every time I spoke to someone, they didn't have answers or gave me mixed answers. THEN it turns out they didn't submit my insurance information to LabCorp with the blood tests so it's been 3 months and I'm still trying to get all this sorted. I sent my insurance information to LabCorp but they didn't submit a claim and are still charging me the full amount. That's $300 in lab work. This was such a huge mistake. read more

Absolutely the worst office ever! I went in for a visit and needed to get a blood test done; the nurse practitioner who was supposed to do that was incredibly rough, poked me twice and basically told me to go home because she couldn't find a vein. Afterwards, I was wrongly charged $100 even though I mentioned to both of front desk women that my insurance covers it. They told me I had to pay so I did. I called my insurance after the visit and my insurance called them and found out they read my claim wrong and I was charged incorrectly. So not only did I not at all get the care/service I needed, I was incorrectly charged $100. Truly the most incompetent staff. I will NEVER return and I seriously recommend people avoid this office at all costs. read more

I've wanted to write this review for a long time now. When I first started going to this practice, I really wanted to love it. The office is staffed by a number of young women--including the doctors and PAs themselves--and I expected to feel comfortable and cared for. Unfortunately at my first physical with Dr. Mendiratta I was told that I could not ask medical questions at a physical, and I would need to schedule another appointment to discuss questions I had about my health (?) at a physical. The second time I came here was after waking up at 3 am due to a sore and swollen throat. Despite the promise that they will always schedule same-day sick appointments, I was told that no one at the U St location could see me. They told me to go to Woodley Park. After being put on hold numerous times and explaining that I was sick and didn't have a car, the Comprehensive Primary Care team finally "fit me into their schedules" for a 4 minute appointment with Dr. Mediratta, who prescribed an antibiotic. The straw that broke the camel's back is, in December I got mono. My eyes were swollen, I couldn't sleep and could hardly talk, and I came in for an appointment with Meredith. She told me I had a cold and again prescribed an antibiotic. I spent a weekend nauseous, throwing up, and unable to swallow. I finally went to an Patient First urgent care facility in Virginia that was able to appropriately diagnose and treat my symptoms. All of this is to say, this is not a place where I trust my health. If you are looking for a doctor's office in DC, I would not recommend going here. Keep on looking, consider concierge care, or go to the suburbs. read more

However, dealing with their phone line person left me such a bad feeling to a point I'm seriously considering switching doctors. Called twice to set up an appointment recently and both times I had the same woman - rude, dismissive, condescending. She was so rude I felt like she was mocking me (for what I don't know). Things were going along as expected until I hit a brick wall: they do NOT accept DC Medicare. I've been a patient at Comprehensive Primary Care for 3-4 years now. I've met with Doctors Mendiratta, Shotashvili, and Desai at both the Woodley Park and U Street offices. Each of them has been extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. In my most recent visit with Dr. Desai, she was responsive to my concerns and offered good advice and suggestions for followup care.
