Ordered takeout from Fortune Garden today. Ended up buying chow fun, chow me in, Mongolian beef, orange chicken, and salt and pepper fish. As usual we were given large quantities and the food tasted good. The only reason I gave this a four out of five stars was the fact that the lady giving us our food wasn't very friendly. read more

The quality and taste of the food is average, sometimes not seasoned well so it's hit or miss ordering from here. If you're looking for fresh ingredients and good food, this is not the place to go. If you want stale food with horrible service, you found your new favorite restaurant! Be warned, the lady that takes the phone orders and charges customers is RUDE and spends her time gossiping instead of doing her job. If you ask for an update on your order she'll roll her eyes and give you attitude; please don't interrupt her socializing time! read more

The food is good but the service is horrible. We ordered half orders but got full orders. There was only 2 of us and made it clear to our waiter before we ordered. We clearly said "only half orders on everything we order" No one refilled our drinks or asked how the meal was. It was like we were forgotten about. We waited about 30 minutes for the food. The waiter was rude and didn't seem like he wanted to be at work. We would ask a question about the order and he would just answer yes or no with an attitude then run off. As a former waitress I expect better service. A table should never see your attitude. I only left a 5 dollar tip and I typically leave 15-20 dollars because I know how draining it can be. When we asked for the check and boxes, we only received boxes and waited another 15 minutes for the check. read more

Giving this place only two stars, only because of the terrible service from the cashier this evening. I had a to go order so upon getting there and the cashier finally attending me I said can you make sure my order is correct since it has been wrong in the past and I don't want to get all the way home and it not be what I ordered. So she not so nice repeats what is on the order ticket which when my order was wrong the ticket was correct but not what was in my bag but no she pretty much refuses to check My actual order. Hope it's correct.. won't be coming here for take out again. I will Let you guys know if the food to go was any good. When we have eaten in the restaurant the food has been pretty good. read more

This review is based ONLY on a call ahead/pickup order experience only. We ordered food to go for a large group, and this place fit the bill. They were able to put together the order on very short notice, and the prices weren't too bad. The food tasted hot and fresh when we received it, for the most part. Only 2 issues of note: first, we called to make a change to the order just a couple of minutes after it was initially placed and were told "the order is already halfway done, we can't make any changes." Ok, not a huge deal, but the person on the phone seemed a little brusque. Secondly, the BBQ pork was very dry. I'm not a huge fan of BBQ pork, so this didn't affect me personally, but everyone in our group that did eat the pork mentioned that it was not very good. Overall, we would order from this place again. I wouldn't order the BBQ pork, but the salt and pepper chicken, beef and broccoli and chow mein were all very good. read more

The food is good but service is terrible!! They need to give these people some training in customer service and they expect to receive a Tip! WORST WAITRESS IN THE VALLEY read more

I enjoy the food here. Once I came here with my wife and we waited over ten minutes without anyone offering us drinks or taking our order. Then I noticed that the hostess who seated us was taking drink orders from other people she seated. My wife and I became very thirsty and we found the whole ordeal very personally insulting. Everyone around us had drinks and food. They were all laughing and talking, so happy. I think we accidentally got seated in a service vacuum. Usually it's not that bad here. I generally enjoy eating the food and the prices are obscenely low. We eventually left because no one was sent to get us. http://youtu.be/gU8VXkEalOs read more

subpar food quality... Yelp should have a zero stars option... no veggies on the dishes... over seasoned or just bland... first and last time for sure... the only good tasting is the red pork... soo disapointing... at least the service was meh ok... Who even eats this crap... Its well worth driving to mex for quality food. YUK. WTF. The cook that even dared to put that shit on a plate is a disgrace, you should be ashamed of the poor quality food you cook read more

Fortune Garden - Where are the veggies? Shittiest lo mein and mongolian beef ive seen in my life. CRAP - Chinese Near Me - El Centro, California

This Chinses restaurant is great. The service is prompt and the food is great. A large selection in their menu including several combination dishes. They serve tea, soft drinks, beer and wine. It's air conditioned with plenty of seating. Located next to the IV Mall and behind Denny's. read more

This was the worse Chinese food I have ever had. The staff was great. The food was not their fault. The duck was awful and hard to cut and the broccoli and beef was mainly broccoli. Did not eat it all and declined to take any home. We have been in El Centro for a week and there are better restaurants to spend your money. read more

This restaurant was recommended from a sales person at Dillards at the mall. We were seated right away we reserved service right away and the food came out super quick. We ordered shrimp with vegetables and beef and broccoli with white rice and both dishes were delicious. The staff was super friendly and very efficient. We came at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and it was not very crowded. Would highly recommend would for sure come back next time visiting Imperial Valley. read more

Just stepped out . Shitty service. We were party of 10. Before us party of 2 and after us party of 2. They tell us our table is all set. But another party of 18 comes in. MANAGER makes the call to jump us. Previous party mad. Next party of 2 leaves too. I tell girl. "That's fucked up". I used to work at a top restaurant here in valley. And im a manager as well. From manager to manager and restaurant. Yo guys suck big time. If could give one corner of star itd give u only that. read more

We started eating at the Fortune Garden soon after it opened. We don't live in the area but travel there often. I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch the first time we went there and I liked it so much that I have never ordered anything else. My wife likes lo mein or fried rice and egg rolls. We always need a take out box for the leftovers. My wife purposely orders a full order of fried rice so we will have plenty to take home. The reason I didn't give it five stars is that the service is not so great. read more

Called for reservations for a Birthday gathering for Thursday May 10th Attendant booked for May 10th ,No Problem We got a call shortly thereafter and was told we had to pay a 15-20% gratuity to secure table. Do the Mothers Day Parities have to pay this also? She said reservation should not of been made by other girl because of Mexican Mothers Day I said I would happily pay a service gratuity of 15% on service and was told they would rather not book because of the Mothers Day Events We go there all the time and have taken many gatherings of family there A Paying Party is a Paying Patty regardless of Event I was told that Mexican Mothers Day took priority over our party We will never go there again and neither will anyone that we know that we can tell of treatment It's a Financial Loss for Fortune Garden But the owner didn't seem to care No one should go here read more

Food was ok but came out fast. Service was not very good. We had to ask for seconds on our beverage. We had to actually tried to flag down our server because he was socializing with some girls in the booth next to us. We might come again if we get desperate enough. Recommend to others mostly not. read more

We go out to eat there about once every 3-months or so and order the same thing: I get the orange chicken and white rice and my wife gets salt & pepper chicken and fried rice. Our food is always great but the service can use some serious help as it sometimes takes quite a while to put in our order and to get someones attention when we are trying to pay before we leave. If you like sweet tea, well prepare yourself for sugar water. In my years of having Chinese food, I've only been served sliced lemons here - they do this for every table...I really don't get it! read more

Fast service huge portions. They must be very busy taking phone orders had to call a lot before getting through

Pretty sad to eat at. We came and got our waters immediately but when it came to getting our orders, i felt like we sat there for 30 minutes. No exaggeration here, but 4 tables sat AFTER us and was helped before us. My boyfriend and I gave them another 5 minutes, got up and walked out. No food was even able to be placed for an order. Yes, they were busy as hell so we weren't complaining about that. Just the fact that 4 tables were able to place an order before us and we got there before them. AND ! We were ready to order within 2 minutes of getting a menu. Yes, we are super pissed. read more

Everyone seems to complain about this place but it's really not that bad. The food is average but what sets them apart from other Chinese restaurants is that they give you a lot of food. Also it's priced cheap and the service was great. I can't really complain. Please give them a try and I will be back read more

Looking for some awesome Chinese food? This is NOT the place for you. Food obviously comes from freezer bags. No flavor, bad service. No organization. And worst of all extremely over priced! Please don't waist your time or money. I never write reviews on yelp but after being so dissatisfied and getting stuck with a 50 dollar bill I had to speak up. I love Asian food and normally eat Chinese, Vietnamese,Thai, and Jananese food in San Diego, calexivo,Mexicali, El centro, tempi Arizona, and Las Vegas. But I have to say hands down worst Chinese food I've ever had. read more

Owners of Fortune Garden, Me and me family have been coming to your restaurant ever since you opened your doors. The food is great every time we want Chinese food Fortune Garden is our first choice. I've never had a bad experience until now. The other day me my wife and boys went to have a meal. The hostess has a face on her that it's obvious she doesn't want to be there making customers feel unfortable. She sat us down and we waited for more than 20 minutes. You have a ponytail guy and a skinny guy who has a Dodge Charger that picks who they want to attend. I just want to make it clear that not all staff is incompetent you have a couple employees that go the extra mile for the customers. I'm sure as an owner you know your employees. It's sad that because of a few employees that don't care about the customers. Your restraunts reputation has to suffer I wish you the best in years to come. read more

Looking for some good Chinese food? Well this is NOT the place for you. This is my first review on yelp and I absolutely had to leave it because this place was not what I was expecting. Food: was flavorless tastes as though it comes out of a frozen food bag, they heat it up and presto! The BBQ pork served as an appetizer? It was dry to boot. Also they bring you one plate at a time. Why? People want to be able to serve themselves more than one thing at a time not wait for the next item. Shrimp in every plate was like chewing rubber. Service: very unorganized, different waiters kept coming over to ask us with in seconds of each other if we were ready to order (very annoying) and once we ordered and they brought the food they didn't come back. Price: extremely over priced. 50 bucks for a combination 3 meal for two and some egg rolls n sweet n sour chicken. Would be worth the price if the food wasn't so bad. Overall experience: bad. Will never come back again. I frequently eat Chinese food in calexico, el centro, Mexicali, San Diego, Tijuana, and even in other states and couldn't complain about any of the food. Bottom line is don't waist your time or money. read more

Horrible service. We walked in they looked up an ignored us. We sat ourselves. The waiter walked by our table 4 times to deliver food to a table behind us. He never gave us eye contact or acknowledged us. We have been coming to this restaurant for years and have never been treated like that. What a disappointment. read more

The owner of this place is a joke! We had a discrepancy with how we were charged on our bill, and were told to speak with him! He didn't even want to hear our explanation and told us, "If you don't pay, your waiter will pay your bill!" What kind of business owner says such a thing? Food was okay, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth! read more

What happened to the Fortune Garden? This used to be our go to place for Chinese food although we live in San Diego but visit family in the Valley. The service sucks and the food just doesn't have the quality it used to. With scarce jobs in the Valley you would think the wait staff would take pride in their work and not stand behind the bar at the back of the restaurant while you die of thirst. My wife asked me last night if I wanted to go there and I said no. In the past my answer was always "does a bear $h%t in the woods?" read more

I have had lots of Chinese food in the valley and this is by far the worst. We had to flag a waiter down to take our order and when she finally came 10 minutes later after we already waited for 20 she gave us attitude. Yea she's the blonde one with the crazy hair. The food is overpriced, service is horrible, no management and food is mediocre. We were even here for my brothers birthday. It ruined our experience. Never coming back again. read more

Horrible service. This is my first negative review. I rarely take the time to bad mouth a restaurant, due to a positive view in life. However, with that being said, our waitress was not only rude, but outright disrespectful. Not only did we chase down a completely different server to place our order, we were served last in comparison to four other tables that were seated post our arrival. Once the two other members of my party were served, I was informed that the pork was no longer available for the evening. This was rather upsetting due to the fact that the aforementioned tables seated after us were server heaping portions of pork. I hope this is helpful. read more

04/30/16. 7pm. Just ordered food for 5 to go. The lady who took our order over the phone said it would take about 20 minutes. Ok we got to the restaurant in 25 minutes and paid $95. We where told the food wasn't ready so we waited about 10 minutes. Got home and the food looked ok. Took a bite and the food was cool. Not cold but definitely wasn't even warm. So I called the restaurant and made a complaint. I was immediately given to the manager who I told him what happened and all he had to say was the order was sitting there for 40 minutes. Are you kidding me. The guy didn't want to hear it. Customer service here is none existant. Will not eat here again. Save yourself some grief and go anywhere else. At least Jack or McDs won't keep you waiting or give you cool temperature food. read more

Worst place for Chinese food in Imperial Valley. Been there twice. Twice the food was overcooked with too much MSG added. Service was pedestrian at best. Damn TV had on a horror movie with dead people on the show. Again and again one sees TVs in restaurants in Imperial Valley. Plain stupid. Plain food. Plain service. Go to China Palace, Luckys or even YumYum in Calexico or much better food and service. read more

We came to have early dinner and the place was full, we got seated right away and immediately were offered a drink. We ordered our food and waited, and waited, and waited. It took 45 minutes before we got our meal. It can be understood as the place was full; however, another group- a large party of 8 who came maybe 15 minutes before our food arrived got their food at least five minutes ours arrived. The wait staff never checked in on us or asked if we were ok. The food arrived cold. Very disappointed. read more

I think this was the worst Chinese food and service we have received in a very long time. My husband and I ate there today and it was very disappointing. The prices are good so I suspect that is why folks go there, but we won't be returning. I had coffee and requested milk or cream with it. Waitress came and handed me a big family size coffee mate container and I said, no thanks, do you have a little milk? She said no, sorry , no milk. I said if I had my children with me and they drank milk, they could not get a glass of milk ? She said, no sorry and walked away. Egg rolls came they were yucky. I suspect frozen packaged ones. I asked for some plum sauce for them, she said, no sorry again. I said cherry sauce, anything for the egg rolls again, no sorry. The pot stickers were doughy and very dry. The wontons in the won ton soup felt strange in my mouth. I looked at the portion still on my spoon and it was half raw. Yuck yuck. Our bill was over 30:00 for soup and appetizers. We paid it and got out of there. No way was the meal or service worth even 5:00. Our first and last trip there. read more

Food is good, horrible service! One girl came and took our order (15mins. later after we sat down) had kind of an attitude, not so inviting, a second waiter came and took our drinks, and a third person came and brought over our food. I travel all over the US and always like trying new places. Fortune Garden is a great place to hit. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced and the portions are enough for two meals. I have had the beef and broccoli and the salt and pepper chicken and both are delish. Their egg flower soup is nice and tasty and it doesn't have the artificial yellow coloring in it. It gets crazy busy at lunch so be willing to wait a little if you hit the height of it. read more
