First time there today and it was the last. Staff service was great and they were nice and attentive, but there is a horrible horrible sewer smell i couldn't keep up with the smell, owing a restaurant that is as packed as it was when i went in there, i would at least put odors fighters around your restaurant if you are having a sewage problem or fix them to keep that smell away. This is my favorite Chinese spot (Mexicali style Chinese) and I absolutely have to stop every time I go through El Centro. My dad used to take us there as kids and it was my first experience into Chinese food, although I found out later in life that it's completely different that real Chinese food and that I was enjoying Mexicali style. My go to is the Mongolian beef. It's very flavorful and well cooked and comes with fried rice and chicken chow mein. The service is fast and friendly too. We pulled up and the parking lot was full so we thought the food's gotta be good, boy were we wrong. As we got out of our car there was a smell outside of the restaurant like sour milk. It was horrible. The seat belts on the 2 booster seats were broken, so we had to make do. The egg drop soup was hot but the taste was horrible. The rest of the food came out pretty quickly but it was NOT hot just barely warm. The kung pow chicken had no pow. It was not spicy at all and the vegetables were barely cooked. The orange chicken was overcooked and was a bit spicy not orange chicken. There was more spice to the orange chicken than the kung pow chicken. The waiter never asked if we needed anything or if everything was ok. Y'all definitely need to make a lot of improvements. read more

Great experience! I went early last summer and the food was great. The food was such a good way to replenish my hungry stomach in the hot summer. The drinks were great and were so refreshing! A shocking surprise in the middle of no where. The building has very little windows which was a little eerie. I wonder what this used to be. Inside was good enough. Staff was great. We had a noodle dish and dumpling soup. Both were fantastic. Maybe we were just extremely hungry but we (including my 4 year old) absolutely loved the food. There was enough to take home and eat for a couple of days. The noodles tasted better each day. I can honestly say ew would stop in again if we are close. read more

Visited Lucky Chinese for the first time today. Not only was the food amazing and very fresh and tasty but our waitress Minerva made the visit extra special. I had the orange chicken, chow mein and pork fried rice and everything tasted fantastic. Lucky Thai is a good place for Chinese. I like the price in compassion to the portion size. I ordered the Mongolian beef with the pork fried rice and chow mein. I liked the noodles, the friend rice was just okay. They have Thai tea, which i have yet to try. I dont recommend this place for those with sensitive stomachs. The worst experience! To start off the person that served us was short and rude! We started off with water if you know El Centro weather you know water it is! I guess that made our server not very happy! While we waited I spoke to another person serving and ask if sweet/sour chicken could be spicy and if i could change Chow Mein for chop suey. He was very polite and said "yes" When our server came I told him what I wanted. He was in a rush and said ok ok and left. A few minutes later I got a plate of Mongolian beef and rice which was not what I order. I called him and he said "that what you pointed too" ( in Spanish) and I said no it was not. Got upset didn't let me finish what i wanted and took plate. I stop another sever walking by and explained what I wanted. He took my order went back not even 2 minutes later the other guy bought a plate of what I have order but it was cold as if its was sitting there before coming to the table. I was very upset and ask to pack my food to go except that plate with cold food which I was not going to pay for. Left very upset!! This place was recommended maybe the food is good (which am sure its was because place was pack with people, place was very clean) The service was very upsetting!!! We were in town yesterday at lunch time and decided to grab a bite. We were looking at something beyond the average burger. My husband suggested our 'last chance Chinese'. We are calling it that because we've gone to all the other places in town and haven't been thrilled. We go to eat Chinese often so we have always had our 'usual' place where we had favorites but since moving to El Centro, we haven't found our place. We ordered Lunch specials. I ordered Chicken Chop Suey that came with BBQ Pork and Hubs ordered Mongolian Beef which came with Chow Mein and both came with Pork Fried Rice. Both were $8.99 which is a bit more than lunch in town but we hope it's really good. I spoke to the owner after ordering while I was taking photos of the restaurant. He lived in San Francisco before moving here giving me hope for good food. You will see the photo of a giant room sized mural of the Golden Gate Bridge reminding him of home. Our plates came out and they were huge. This wasn't your usual lunch size. We saw a separate small lunch listing after the regular lunch menu but never thought about it. We are always happy with leftovers so it's good. The Mongolian Beef came on thin,crispy noodles which were excellent and the beef was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. BBQ pork was also good flavor with nice caramelization. The Chow Mein was orange (is that normal-it's new to us but all places in town make it like that) but the flavor ok (still not a fav though). The Pork Fried Rice had an ok amount of BBQ pork in it though some were really dry but flavor was pretty good. The Chicken Chop Suey was a bit disappointing because there was almost no chicken but still good flavor. The winner was the Mongolian Beef that we will both get next time. Lucky Chinese does meet our requirements-they serve beer for hubs, something we both like and Crab Rangoon for appetizer (hubs love them even if it's not real crab anymore). We will come back to do dinner and hope it's just as good or better. While it's not as good as we are used to, we know we're far from the LA area and we are happy we found our Chinese food fix. read more

The friendly, fast, and overall vibe of this place is what makes El Centro and Lucky's so great. No, this place is not your typical Chinese restaurant....so don't even compare. Lucky's Chinese is my favorite restaurant in the Imperial Valley. I try to eat there at least once a week. They know how to treat you when you walk through the door. The customer service is exceptional, and the food is amazing. I order the combination dinner, and a sweet tea. If heaven were an earthly place, it would be Lucky's Chinese. I am waiting for it to open as I write this. I need a sweet tea NOW! Those things taste delicious, and are packed with caffeine. I am truly addicted. I was in El Central today and I was hungry. I googled "Chinese Restaurant near me. Several popped up so I read some reviews and chose this one. I ordered off the lunch menu. I tried the Mongolian beef, one of my go-to items in a Chinese restaurant. It came with pork fried rice and chicken chow mein. Both sides we're a little on the bland side. I doctored them up with soy sauce, which helped a lot. I liked that the fried rice had plenty of pork along with some peas and corn. The chicken chow mein, while good, would more appropriately be named chow mein as there was not a suffecient amount of chicken to add chicken to the name, in my personal opinion. The Mongolian beef was the best part of the meal. While not the best I've ever had I'd say quite possibly the second best. The beef was tender flaverful and seasoned and prepared really well. What sets this Mongolian Beef apart from other recipies was that it sat on a bed of thin crispy noodles. There was plenty of food and took some with me for another meal. What was missing from the meal was an egg roll, eggdrop soup, and some fried wanton with sweet and sour sauce and a tiny amount of hot mustard. They did have eggrolls and soup on the menu BUT I have an aversion to paying more than $10.00 for lunch, it was already a stretch for me to order it at $10.90. I said I'm on vacation and I'm worth it so I'll pay the $10.90 but not get carried away with added expense of extra items. The service was good. Not particularly friendly but good. I tried to engage the cashier in conversation by telling him I was visiting El Central from San Diego and I found Lucky Chinese on Google. He was not impressed. Will I ever return? Yes, maybe after trying all the other Chinese places in El Central. read more
