Enjoying a tasting!
Michele G.

Very cool tasting room property. Friendly owners who took the time to talk with us and tell us about their wines. Their wine was delicious.

A one of a kind wine tasting experience. The winemakers were generous with their knowledge and Gracious with their hospitality.

Every time we have been there, it's been the owners Lee and Emily pouring and engaging with guests.

Owen Roe - Shaded seating outdoors if that's your preference or tables and a gift shop inside.

Nice place and really good wine produced here and being for California that says a lot about this…read moreplace. Staff was great and the place was very enjoyable. If you are in the area stop by and give it a try.

We specifically picked Owen Roe to visit while in Yakama, given we enjoyed the Newburg, OR tasting…read moreroom (which I think is closed now). We sat outside, under a tree, with our pups. They bring the wine pre-poured in mini-carafe's (I'm sure there's a proper name for them), and include a "blind" pour that if you guess correctly, you win a prize (which I did not.) The outside area is spectacular, with trees for shade, the views for miles, and the feel of being somewhere special. Service was OK, they bring you pre-poured if you sit outside, and they may check back in on you if they aren't too busy. It seemed our server was on the new side, and she told us 4 times she had only been there a few days. Inside, I think it might be a more traditional experience, but can't confirm. There is also a good-sized seating area inside - and you're able to see the other vintage/varietals available for purchase. Wines by the glass are available, but not for everything, and only for bottles they have already opened. I wanted to try their Sangiovese, but they weren't pouring it, and bummer they didn't have one open to taste - I would have loved to try it. I recommend (based upon my palate) the Abbot's Table and the Sinister Hand (fun background story as well). I didn't care for the rose - it was sweeter than I prefer. Regardless, come visit and you're bound to find something to suit your taste. So why 4-stars? I just have high expectations of servers when I'm tasting wine, and I didn't get the feeling that ours knew the product well, so I didn't feel like I would get much education (which is part of why I, myself, enjoy wine tasting - to learn something new).

The wines are as solid as ever (big fan of their new releases), but the real standout was the guy pouring. Super friendly, chill, and made the whole experience feel easy and fun. No pretense, just good wine and good convo. Bonus points for having food to snack on and beer options for the non-wine folks. It's got everything you need for a laid-back afternoon. This spot might just be my favorite Gård location. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town.

The tasting room is actually 2 large rooms with many seating options. We sat in the comfy chairs in the corner. Van approached us upon entering and served our tastings. He is very knowledgeable about their vineyards and wines, which is much appreciated. They don't have a set tasting flight, but rather "whatever is open" at the time. We had a wide variety from their Blanc Franc, which we loved, to a rich Cab Sauv. The bottle prices are wide ranged and well priced. They have a bites menu, but we didn't try any of the food. They have musicians play on some evenings. They produce whites, roses and reds so it's a great place for couples and groups who have varying preferences.
