This was our first stop wine tasting in the Yakima area. The tasting room has such a pleasant vibe. Tasting fee is $5 and you get to taste 7 wines (2 whites and 5 reds) Tasting fee is waived if you purchased a bottle. Suzanne poured the wines for us and she was the best! She explained all the wines, the labels are beautiful and are created by a local artist. She was so sweet to get pop corn for my kids. They have live music on Saturday and wines by the glass are very reasonable. We loved all of their wines, my fav were Chardonnay and Riesling.

The staff here are impressive. They offer a great variety of reds to sample and we did order some to take home! I would love to see a few more options in whites. The trialing was really nice at the end!

$5.00 for a flight of wine that is refunded towards the purchase of any wine. Kana does not grow its own grapes, but instead buys from vineyards like Champoux Vineyards which is ranked as one of the top ten vineyards in the nation. The downtown location is great for relaxing and enjoying a quiet afternoon of wine tasting. All the wines were robust and very high quality. There is a little something for everyone. I don't generally like Chardonnay, but this Chardonnay is created in steel barrels and is very smooth. The Tempranillo is very good and if you like Cab you will love this. The Dark Star is a meritage blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre that is very smooth. My personal favorite.

When in Yakima, Kana Winery is a must stop in! Good wine, good music, and great bartenders (especially Meegan and Kristen)! My husband and I stopped in here during our walking tour of the many downtown Yakima wineries and breweries. The staff greeted us with a warm welcome and promptly poured us each a tasting ($5/each). They explained each of their wines as we tasted them (their reds were my favorite) and gave us informative tips about where we should visit during our visit to Prosser and Zillah the next day. The First Friday of each month always features live music. Kana is a cozy place to have a glass (or bottle) of wine and enjoy a local band. We will definitely be back to Kana on our next visit to Yakima!

Excellent wine, especially DARK STAR red blend and a double gold medal scoring Chardonnay.

It's intimate, classy and has that perfect local feeling, all wrapped up into one spot. It's located downtown near the YMCA and I believe it's an old Orthodox Church, at least based on what it looks like. For a few hours every week, there's an area open in the front of the building where you can buy "I Heart Yakima" merchandise. In addition, they have art displays there that rotate throughout the year. On the opposite side of the building is the auditorium. It's a beautiful spot that appears to be an old church sanctuary. They're beautiful Stainglass windows flanking the sides as well as a dome top it is absolutely spectacular. The stage is not overly large, but accommodates a band quite nicely. Seating is church pews as well as small tables and chairs upfront. There's main floor seating as well as balcony seating. The balcony stuff is pretty rad, as it gives you a little bit better vantage point and has some sections that have a very old-school theater type feel - Like something you would see out of a movie about Ford's theater, but without the tragedy. The shows that they've got here I've become increasingly great and this year have included some world-class jazz, Bluegrass as well as some up-and-coming artists. While the acoustics here are not perfect, they're solid and the intimate nature of the place makes for a wonderful evening. And because this is Yakima, the folks that come here are super friendly and will often come and mingle with the crowd afterwards. The most expensive tickets that we've seen here were $45 for a band that won a Grammy eight months ago! This is one of the coolest venues that we've had the pleasure of attending shows at and one that we are really excited to continue to support. You guys running it are doing a great job of bringing an eclectic array of art, music and theater into the area and it's absolutely something to check out.

Dancing to live music can be religious, so it was fairly fitting to see (and dance to) a Cuban…read moreSon/Cha Cha Cha band at a concert hall which used to be a church (1st Church of Christ Scientist). Complete with rays of colored light shining in through the stained glass we showed up early for a dance lesson of Cuban Son--this old style of dance (grandmother to modern salsa) is hard but elegant looking. After the lesson was the show. The venue is pretty dang awesome [solid 4.5 stars on a first visit]. The acoustics were top notch. I made a quick scan of the entire space and there really isn't a bad seat. Their is a huge balcony. There is an open space near the stage for dancing (I clumsily tried my hat with salsa, and we had a few ruedas going as well). They served some refreshments as well as beer and wine when we were there. . . Visiting the "Palm Springs of Washington", sitting in a pew with a bottle of beer tucked into the bible/hymn book holder, listening to traditional Cuban Son, and dancing sexy moves in a former church....it was surely surreal... . . ...And made me a fan of The Seasons. There will be a summer series of Latin music over the summer, and I can't wait to check it out again (although, I think these shows will be outside--first one is July 2nd). Amen.
