Downtown is lucky to have this spot open just off Roosevelt! It's my new favorite brewery, with an airy, spacious location and great deals. I like the ambiance, and the service is great. They play sports on large TVs, but they also occasionally have live music or events like Tuesday trivia. The patio is dog-friendly. It has a very Colorado vibe, which makes sense knowing it's related to the people behind Denver Beer Co. If you're not sure what to order, staff have helpful recommendations. Their happy hour is worth hitting up, especially for deals on food, but the beers are affordable 24/7. I like their peach beer, the Stem ciders they carry, and their frozen drinks. Food wise, their tanglers and pizza are fantastic. It's nice to have a new place around that's great for groups and casual hangs.

I had an awesome experience here and can't recommend this place enough. We came here for my friend's birthday party, and ended up having the entire upstairs area to ourselves (it was a Monday evening though, so not very busy). This building is brand new with sunken seating, large ceilings, and a patio area with fireplaces! There is also a lot of greenery throughout the space that was hand picked and put together by a local floral designer, super cool. Wyatt and Dexter were awesome and took great care of us. They had QR codes for the menus. I decided to try a flight and really enjoyed all four beers. We also tried the hot honey Detroit style pizza and thought it tasted incredible with thick crust and lots of flavor. I also tried the pretzel bites and really enjoyed those too. 10/10, can't get enough of this spot. I will definitely be back!

This is a new brewery just off of Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix. I checked it out with some friends on only the third weekend they've been open. Their grand opening is on November 8th. It was Saturday around noon and not too busy yet, but it picked up within an hour. We got a table on the patio, but it had rained that morning so it got really humid and sunny. So we moved to a high top inside. I really like the layout of this two-story brewery. In the center is a square space with cushions and pillows on the wooden benches, along with a few games on the small tables. The guy at the host stand recommended that we sit in that area if we're only drinking, otherwise sit at a standard table where there'd be more room for our food and drinks. At the bar counter, there were a lot of flies hovering around the bar mat. There were flies hovering around our food as well. The staff is constantly going in and out to serve folks on the patio, so I can see how flies can get in. Somehow that needs to be addressed though. On the patio tables, they have fans to deter flies. Maybe they need that inside as well. For food, we got two orders of the Duck Fat Fries ($10.95 each) because we saw another table get one order and it'd be too small for our group of six. The fries appear to have a light batter. Taste was pretty good, though I couldn't taste the duck fat. I thought it was supposed to come with a garlic aioli, but we only got ketchup. The "Formation Supreme" Detroit-style pizza was very saucy and had a nice crunchy crust. All of their pizzas come with 6 square slices. However, it was quite small for $27.95! For drinks, I got a pint of the Cloud Drifter hazy IPA (7%). Not very hazy, but it was a decent beer. I give it a 3.5/5. The bathroom is outside and is shared with the business next door. They leave bathroom keys by the door in the brewery. Inside the women's bathroom are 3 stalls. It was clean, but doesn't offer any paper towels, so you'll have to touch the door handle again. Service was slow, both inside and on the patio, but they've only been opened for a couple of weeks, so I hope they work out the kinks. Given the price point, I don't think I'd come here for food, but I would stop in for beer if I'm in the area.

Beautiful place, we had such a good time here, got lucky with a fire pit that came handy once it started to cool down, the beer was really good, love the decor, feel like no matter where you sit it just feels cozy. The service was very friendly and attentive, they were amazing. As for the beer it was really good, we had a few and also ordered their duck fat fries and were delicious

Nice new brewery with a very modern look to it! It's huge! With an upstairs area, an outdoor patio with fire pits, and plenty of indoor seating. They have a good selection of IPA, with the DIPA being my favorite. The service was excellent! And it's pretty dog friendly. They didn't have a license for beers to go when I went, but apparently will have it soon! Didn't try the food but the pizza looked good. Overall a great spot.

Great new brewery downtown. Lots of seating available. They were out of a good number of beers when we were there, but the cider I had was great and the food was good too (and they offer happy hour deals). Considering they are relatively new, I give them a pass on the decreased supply. Everything else about this spot is great and I look forward to going again

Went to Formation Brewing because of a recommendation from a nice lady at Waffle House. The food here is absolutely amazing. The variety of beers and drinks were also very tasty. Vibe wise, very chill. It's a brewery vibe for sure. The star of the show for us were the Tangler appetizer and the pizzas. The pizzas were so good. Hot Honey Pepperoni and Chorizo. Both are a recommend! Have a great time!

I went to this brewery for the first time on First Friday. Tons of people were here and they were playing the Phoenix mercury game on the big screens. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating. It's literally right next to taco chelo. They also have an upstairs seating with couches and a bar up there. I saw people come here with friends, also people playing board games, and their blueberry lemon cider was amazing.

Just wandering around and ended up having a beer here. It was the 8.9 ABV chocolate stout, which was the highest level ABV among the choices. It was a good beer, but they only have one television set here and its at an odd position. So, it appears someone is staring at you all the time if they are watching that set. Also, one of the waitresses had a very annoying cackling laugh.

Great Colorado brewery vibes meets no frills AZ spot. Really solid location, inside is huge and patio is also decent size but ambiance there is a bit underwhelming in my opinion. We had the elote dip which was a miss for me. The carmelized onions threw me off and it wasn't citrusy enough. The pizza is unique but sauce to topping ratio was great and delicious. Smoked wings weren't quite crispy enough but sauce was great. The beer selection is refreshing to see. Lots of options besides IPAs which dominates the AZ craft beer scene. Will for sure be back!

I am so happy that Formation Brewing has finally opened its doors on Roosevelt Row, and it absolutely lived up to the anticipation. They nailed the vibe with an open, airy, and industrial feel inside, and the dog-friendly patio is awesome. The beer and cider selection is great, offering plenty of options. We started with the elote dip, which was perfectly spicy and satisfying, and the chicken sandwich was genuinely amazing. The only downfall was the side salad. It needed more dressing. Love that they actually have servers on the patio so you don't have to keep going up to the counter. So happy to add this into the rotation.

If it's your first visit, the AZ Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich is an absolute must. It's perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat and packed with flavor in every bite. Made the long drive from Gilbert to see what the hype was about and let me say....that soft serve was WORTH IT! I got the swirl and it was soooooo refreshing and delicious. I have seen people comment that they were too strong (I don't see the problem or maybe some people don't really like tequila) but mine was perfect! Not strong at all. The only reason I didn't give this updated review a 5-I ordered the banh mi sando and the sandwich was so dry. Chicken was dry. The cilantro wasn't chopped I had to pick out long stems. Also I got the AZ frosè and the rosemary syrup was just way too pungent to enjoy the whole beverage. I wished it had been more balanced. Especially when the French fries are heavily seasoned with rosemary--a bit too much.

For me, it was a big hike up to the north side- but totally worth the haul! I grew up in the Midwest, occasionally going to one or two German restaurant/ clubs, so this was not an unfamiliar atmosphere to me. It is definitely a "seasoned" vibe, having immediately taken over the space by a former western bar/beer hall that had been in existence for 50+ years. Their menu says "German and Hungarian" but all I read was German. They have a solid European beer selection, including taps and bottles and some cocktails with a German twist. The one that threw me for a loop (in the best way) was Kriek! So ofc I got a pint. We shared a (fairly large) pretzel to start, which comes with beer cheese. Tasty, but I was genuinely shocked there was no mustard. I ordered the jagerschnitzel (pork) and just overall the meal was as expected as if I was in the Midwest - amazing, delicious, insert chef's kiss. I wish I could have joined the clean plate club. The cucumber salad was flavorful and not too sour/pickley. My friend and I both noted how umami the savory sauce was- not too bacon, not too mushroom. The potatoes were not too salty or under-seasoned. Literally willing to drive up again if/when someone tells me to go. It wasn't horribly busy so it didn't take forever to order and get everything we needed. Our server was super nice and patient. She even gave a bar suggestion that ended up being a nice cherry for the top of the evening.

One of the highlights was chatting with Dan, who has been bartending for eight years. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions about the brewing process and the brewery itself. It's clear he enjoys what he does and takes pride in sharing information with customers. I also learned that the brewery was founded by Megan Greenwood, and it's impressive to see how her vision has grown into a well-known local brewery. The brewing operation includes seven tanks, giving visitors a glimpse into the production side of the business. For anyone interested in seeing more behind the scenes, Greenwood Brewing does offer brewery tours. There isn't a set tour schedule, so it's best to ask staff about availability when you visit. One feature I thought was especially cool was the live Instagram follower counter displayed behind the bar. Watching the number update in real time was a fun and unique touch that added to the brewery's modern, community-focused atmosphere. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was engaging, and it was fun getting a closer look at the brewing process while enjoying quality craft beer.
