I was SO excited to try this studio, and I'm honestly really bummed about my experience because there were things I genuinely loved. Diane was an amazing instructor, the studio itself was cute, it's close to home, and the early class times were exactly what I was looking for.
Unfortunately, toward the end of class while we were wrapping up a standing series, I noticed a TON of bugs crawling on the walls and floor right next to me. Like... so many. I have a pretty serious insect phobia, so once I noticed them I completely freaked out. The studio is also very dark, which made me start thinking about how long they had been around me without me noticing, whether any had gotten on me or my belongings, etc. I pretty much ran out as soon as class ended and almost accidentally left with their band and ankle weights because I was just trying to get out of there.
I told the woman at the front desk, and she already knew about the issue. She told me they were crickets, asked if I could hear them, and said pest control was coming. She mentioned they had recently held an event where the doors were left open and that was how they got in. What bothered me almost as much as the bugs was how casually it seemed to be handled. There wasn't really an apology or any attempt to make the situation right. She asked if I had been in the back of the studio, and when I told her I was actually in the FRONT, it made me realize the problem clearly wasn't limited to one little area.
I had also purchased a mat from the studio that they store in a basket on the floor. After seeing how many bugs were crawling around, I couldn't stop thinking about what could have crawled onto it while it was being stored there. It genuinely made my skin crawl, and I ended up getting rid of the mat because I was too freaked out to bring it into my house or even leave it in my car.
What made it worse was finding another review afterward from someone who had a similar experience DAYS before mine. That means this wasn't something that had just happened that day and apparently the issue still wasn't resolved several days later. Given how many bugs I personally saw, the lack of urgency is really surprising.
I also wish the customer service had been handled differently. Even something as simple as, "I'm so sorry you experienced that, let me take care of your class today," or taking down my information and inviting me back once the issue was completely resolved would have gone a long way. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but that feels like a pretty standard response when someone has such an uncomfortable experience.
I'm genuinely so disappointed because I REALLY wanted to like this place. Diane was great, the space itself was nice, the location was convenient, and the schedule was perfect for me. Unfortunately, the bug situation combined with the lack of concern or effort to make things right from the front desk was a complete miss for me. I also added this review to their own private site before posting here to see if I'd hear back from them in regards to the bug situation or the front desk and nothing (it has been over a week) read more
