What a gem to find in a small town. I visited Mukwonago, from almost two hours south, to refill my Elegant Farmer supply. Searching for a lunch spot on Yelp, Fork seemed intriguing so we dropped in. The interior was incredibly inviting as it was homey, but not over the top. Also, I like the framed photos of famous Wisconsin residents on the wall. Good conversation starter. Danielle, who is ridiculously pretty, was our server. I asked about free refills on the Arnold Palmers and she mentioned that they were free on iced tea and Arnold Palmers, but not the flavored teas or the lemonade. So I appreciated her honesty. We both got the all you can eat fried chicken special. First, we got plates with a piece of cornbread, cinnamon butter, and cole slaw. I didn't like the slaw much, as I'm not a mayo fan. But the cornbread was so good, I willingly paid for an extra piece. And I would gladly buy a container of that cinnamon butter if I could have. We each got a half chicken. I liked the batter, it wasn't too bready like some chickens can be. The skin was crispy and each piece was really juicy. I finished my plate and was absolutely finished. Also, the mashed potatoes were really good, they had a nice garlicky flavor to them. When I return to this part of Wisconsin, I'll be sure to stop by again. read more

I love this place! I have been eating here for 6-7 years and they are always consistent with everything. Great food, drink, service and atmosphere. I have had numerous menu items and loved all of them. Tonight there were 6 of us having dinner for my Mom's birthday. It was packed when we got there and were told that the wait for the table would be about 45 minutes, but that's just fine because they have a great bar area, great drinks and bartenders. Once we sat for dinner, we all decided on different meals and were all really happy with all of the food. For as busy as it was, our server was friendly and attentive. We had food and drinks quickly and she checked on us. My mother was given a dessert to celebrate her birthday (homemade chocolate eclair torte) and it was awesome! And the owner sand out loud, which was an appreciated gesture. I highly recommend coming here. And if you do, make sure to order their Famous house salad!! I will be back many more times. read more

So glad we used our trusty Yelp to lead us here. We ate lunch at the bar which had a nice atmosphere. The food: great hearty dense bread with a nice creamy chicken artichoke florentine soup, homemade chip dip featuring caramelized onions and buttery crushed pretzel nuggets coating my chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll. The BEST Mac and cheese ever! The salad is so unique and tasty with grapes, some candied nuts, and greens with a light vinaigrette. The Mac and cheese is just rich, creamy, and a huge portion. I love the pulled pork, broccoli, and mushrooms in mine and always have leftovers. I consider myself a Mac and cheese aficionado and this is by far my favorite anywhere. All of the other food on the menu looks wonderful as well, but I cannot stray from the Mac! We are so glad that Fork in the Road reopened, my only complaint is that it is always busy, but I definitely understand why! read more

Always a good drink and great meal! The salads are the best I have ever had! The staff are always professional and service is 5 stars. The atmosphere is nice with pictures of Wisconsin celebrities and all of their cute individual branding everywhere. Only drawback: they are not open on Sundays. What a delightful surprise Fork in the Road turned out to be! My honey and I were taking a weekend drive to visit Paradise Springs, and were looking for a place to have lunch. We saw Fork in the Road and immediately knew we had to visit-- it looked so cozy and had a fun name. Because it was a beautiful summer day, we sat out on the front porch, which was really nice. There were a few gnats buzzing around, but hey, we were outside... We started with two of their nice selection of Belgian beers, served in the appropriate glasses for each beer, and an order of the fried pickles. Wow! Some of the best pickles I've had, but a little on the salty side. (What do you expect?) Anyway, they are fresh, juicy, thick-cut spears, in vodka tempura batter. Served with your choice of sauces, we had chipotle ranch. They are served piping hot, so be careful! My beau and I each had a salad-- he enjoyed the beautifully presented Beet and Goat salad with tilapia and I had the Parmesan crusted chicken Caesar. Both were really good, and generous enough to leave us both satisfied. The owner made rounds to all the tables, but didn't linger too long, as some managers do. Very nice place. When you walk in at the bar, you may think oh another Wis. bar & grill. Ahh, but no, the food is much more upscale. The restaurant is remodeled and has comfortable decor. Food can be quick burgers or something different, steak, soups, fish. Would recommend. read more

I'm really torn on this review. Recently, I made a reservation for 12 people for my mom's birthday/retirement dinner. I called two weeks in advance to be sure they could accommodate, as 12 people is more than usual. Pros: - Delicious Food (I had the steak!) - Amazing server brought the whole room in on singing "Happy Birthday". - Said server managed our group and a few other larger groups all at once and did GREAT. Cons: - I called to advise that the reservation was a surprise party and was treated very rudely by the hostess that answered. She seemed annoyed that I was calling, but after making the reservation weeks prior, I wanted to be sure. - The menu wasn't quite what I hoped for. While I enjoyed my meal, others in my group had trouble finding something they'd like. - We were crammed back to back with another group of 12, making it extremely hard to maneuver to go to the bathroom, etc. I will definitely not be using FITR for another large group, but may be back otherwise. read more

This place makes me very happy. Appetizer: Had the fried cheese curds. Great texture, but I would say that it was a bit too salty for me. Considering the food that you are having here, you "should" minimize how much you are destroying your health. Entree: Got the custom Mac n Cheese with Bacon, Mushrooms, and sundried tomatoes. I would like to make the point that this tasted REALLY good. The individual components tasted REALLY good. HOWEVER, I would not get the sundried tomatoes again because the flavor does not compliment the cheese. Perhaps the spinach next time or something. Also, this cheese is RICH. This was our 2nd time here and I am so mad at myself for not coming here more often. The food is EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD and the service was great as well. We were here on a very, very busy Saturday night and the place was buzzing. We grabbed a seat at the bar and decided to just eat there, even after a table was ready for us. When you see a ton of to-go orders coming out, you know it's good. Bartenders were very good, friendly, and attentive. Food was excellent. This will become a more regular spot. read more

I think this place is great at first, but I was deeply offended when I have a medical condition that doesn't allow me to eat a lot. I literally have a couple bites and I am done. I don't get out a lot to eat and when I do I won't eat again. I am on artificial IV nutrition. I asked to order off the kids menu as they have smaller portions. They said no, cause they would lose their job. I asked to talk to manger. It's unfortunate and the guy I asked to explain my condition was super rude and came of as a prick. I believe it was the owner. This is the first place that's ever done it. Won't be returning. read more

When I visit home, Fork in the Road is always at the top of my list for places to eat. This has been one of my family's favorites for years now. I have never been disappointed by the Fork. Their food, wait staff, and the quaint environment all make for a lovely dining experience. If you want to eat here- especially during peak dinner hours, you will have to wait but it is WORTH it. Grab a drink at the bar, they have lots of delicious seasonal cocktails. Every time I come to the Fork, I order one of two things- the cedar plank salmon or the mac'n'cheese of course. It is literally impossible for me order anything else even though I really want to try other things since I've never had a bad meal here but the mac'n'cheese really is THAT good, it lives up to the hype. I would be confident saying it's the best I've ever had. I get it plain with just the cheese because it doesn't need anything else but you do get the option to load it up with other toppings like veggies, brisket, etc. The salmon is also to die for. The glaze they use is so delicious. All entrees come with the option for a salad or soup. Both are amazing. They always have two soups of the day to choose from. Both homemade and usually always unique. But that being said, I almost always choose the salad because the house salad is literally the best salad I've ever had. Mixed greens, with some kind of delicious light dressing, red grapes, and sugared pecans- YUM. I'm not sure what it is, but it makes even the biggest salad skeptic want seconds. Not much else I can say other than you won't be disappointed, I have never dined with anyone who didn't like the food. The cheesecurds are also an amazing Wisconsin appetizer if you want something in addition to all the other food you get. Anyone who says the food is "expensive" clearly is not aware that sometimes you have to a pay a little more to get a LOT more. The entree portions are generous and especially worth the money with you get soup or salad and bread with each meal. We're never disappointed when we come here. The last time we were in was about a month ago, and our waitress was AMAZING. Seriously, she had the best timing. Our drinks were never empty, but she has this way of bringing a refilled cup just as you were drinking the last sip. And, it was relatively busy. Oh, and the food was good, too. But I was more impressed with our waitress and I wish I could remember her name so we could come in every time she worked. Great place. I've not been there since the COVID measures have been in place, but prior to that I've been in several times. The diverse menu is a treat, lots to choose from and I've never been disappointed. Atmosphere tends towards the family dining experience, which is ok, but not for date night in my book. Overall it's a solid 4 star family dining place. Obviously trained staff that knows how to care for a guest. When I'm out spending my cash, being well treated is an expectation, and at Fork in the Road, they don't disappoint in that regard. Try it....I think you'll become a repeat customer:) read more

This was an amazing surprise find on our trip home! The create your own Mac-n-cheese (pork, red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes) with chicken wild rice soup or an incredible house salad was the best we ever had! The last two times I ate there the food was sub par. The last time I went the hostess was mia. The staff ignored me until she came back

Went to Fork in the Road for a Friday night dinner, arriving a few minutes after 7:00PM. We were told the wait would be 30-45 minutes, and 45 it was. We ordered a drink at the bar to pass the time. MY CC and sweet (Canadian Club and Seven Up) was terrible; a tall glass full of ice, with flat , no carbonation, white soda and barely a hint of alcohol. When texted that our table was ready, we were guided through a room with at least twelve empty tables to our table in the back room, making us wonder why we had to wait 45 minutes. We ordered dinner right away, my wife ordering fish tacos and I the walleye fish fry. The waitress brought my coleslaw which was more like coleslaw soup, extremely watery as if they were trying hard to get one more serving out of the slaw container, and a small rye roll the size of your thumb on a small plate. Then we waited another 20-25 minutes for our meals, keeping in mind that the two rooms we have seen were practically empty. When someone, not our waitress, brought the entrees, she picked up the small plate with still a half-of-a-thumb of rye roll on it so I said to her, "if you are not going to bring anymore bread, don't take that." She didn't, nor did more bread arrive. The fish tacos were especially spicy but not to extent my wife could not eat them. I tried a bite and would have sent them back, which I should have done with the walleye. It was just plain bad; over-cooked, dry with a breading reminiscent of course grade sandpaper. At no point did anyone come to our table to ask how things were, a testament to my restraint and their bad service. The only time our original waitress came back to the table, the one who took our order while lying about being the one "who will be serving you tonight", was to hand me the bill. When I handed her my card and the drink tab as well, she told me I would have to go back to the bar to pay the drink bill. When I told her that wasn't going to happen, since no one, meaning the bartender, had mentioned that earlier, she took the bar tab. Given the poor quality of the drink, the food and the service, I can honestly say I would not go back to the Fork in the Road if they paid me. read more
