We decided on Fork in the Road for this weeks Fish Fry for a couple of reasons, 1. It has some really good reviews and 2. It's October and this place is supposedly haunted. We got there at about 4:30 and there was plenty of seating but there was a full house by 5. We started off with drinks, a Cucumber Martini and a Caramel Apple Martini. We all had the Baked Fish with the Potato Pancakes. The fish was cooked to perfection and even came with a side of Plaki Sauce (a tomato and onion sauce) if you wanted to make your fish Greek style. It's been at least five years since we've been here. We had a wonderful experience five years ago. It's just that so many restaurants are opening. We keep wanting to try different places. However my husband mentioned that we should try Fork in the road as it's been a long time. We brought a couple with us last night that has never been there. The drinks were great. The service was OK but we sat for a while waiting to get a second drink. However, we were slightly disappointed with our food. My husband ordered the Reuben and it was extremely dry. Almost like the corned beef was overcooked, or the sandwich was sitting underneath a heat lamp for a very long time. My steak sandwich was also very dry. I had to ask for a side of garlic aïoli. The chicken plate was excellent, and the salmon was very good. Not sure we will come back. Many other choices around. read more

Passing through and stopped for lunch after seeing positive reviews on Yelp. The food and service were amazing. I ordered the brisket melt -- so flavorful, and I could only eat half. The side of cole slaw was fresh and tangy. My son got the Rochester burger which as perfectly cooked and loaded with Wisconsin cheese and the french fries that were thin, hot and crispy. The vanilla and cherry cokes were incredible, especially the vanilla - it reminded me of a root beer float in flavor. Our waitress, Marina, was attentive and friendly. This would be an incredible restaurant anywhere. To find it in a small Wisconsin town was a stroke of luck. read more

Well talk about consistent, because I haven't done a review in 7 years and nothing has changed. Still the best spinach and artichoke dip, and their build your own Mac and cheese is still my go to. Great food with huge portion sizes. Their soups are always so delicious, and they have daily specials. A local favorite for sure. The servers are always nice, and they're always well staffed. It does get a little loud in here, but they've done a really good job bringing the noise down as much as possible. And it definitely gets busy so reservations never hurt. read more

First time dining here. Such a cute place. We had reuben sandwich. Pork pig roast dinner and a burger and everything was Delicious. Tried a specialty gin suggested by the owner Therese and it was yummy. Tried 3 desserts which were all good. But the Creme Brulee was to die for. We had an unexpected death in the family and were in need of a private luncheon spot for after the service. This was after Memorial Day weekend, so they must've been quite busy, but we were treated well. They couldn't have been more helpful with promptly communicating to me (I'm out of state) and making sure everything was dialed in and ready, even though I was hundreds of miles away. The menu was delicious, with many choices for all different types of diets. Everyone told me they really enjoyed the food. We had a private room to ourselves for about 10 people, and were able to have a positive time reminiscing and sharing good memories of the departed. Service has been terrible for about a year, but they have good food so you out up with aloof waiters and bartenders. I swear the bar tender was spending more time with some guy than all the people at the bar. It's old and it feels old and they cannot afford good help. So if you want to suffer the crappy help then the foods ok. read more

Enjoyed a delicious family dinner tonight. Fried chicken was moist with a crispy not greasy hand breading. Th mashed potatoes and gravy along with cole slaw, corn bread and cinnamon butter. Two family members enjoyed the Saturday prime rib special served with soup or salad. The salad was a generous serving of spring greens, cherry tomatoes and red grapes. First time at fork in the road but definitely not my last! Met my mom here for a quick fish fry before going to my cousins HS theater performance. My mom enjoyed the fish fry and I had the pretzel chicken, we both cleaned our plates HAHA! This place was poppin, very busy which I guess is normal on a Friday there. Made reservations here for a family dinner. Very cold Wisconsin winter evening and the place was relatively busy which is telling. Two of us had the fillet, one had the prime rib and one had a hamburger. All of the food was excellent. Filet perfectly cooked. The service was spectacular. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. I've always enjoyed meals and drinks, but there have been a few times service was very slow, and the price increases have made it difficult to dine here as often as I used to. My literal favorite restaurant. I would practically sell my left arm for the mac n cheese recipe because I've never found any other place as good, and trust me I've tried a LOT of mac n cheese. The soups are always amazing. And I highly suggest trying the hanging pretzel at least once! And always make sure to check out the drink specials as they change seasonally, I believe, and I can always find something yummy to try. The service is always fantastic and I love the history of the place. I do recommend checking their hours before you head out as they've had to adjust their days and hours (like so many places) because of staffing. But it is without a doubt somewhere worth taking the time to plan for! read more

The Fork Salad was abundant with fresh fruit and produce topped with a well grilled chicken breast. Though a real star is the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Crisp exterior with a moist interior slathered in a spicy enough, but not overwhelming, sauce on a soft roll. Went to a luncheon with my family over the weekend, but my dad didn't know I was going to show up and surprise him from out of state so I left instructions with the host Becky that it was for a party of 3-but secretly four! The staff pulled it off, even so far as to reiterate at the table "what can I get for the three of you?" (Nice touch!) We had the dangling pretzel with the beer cheese and the black bean dip. The pretzel was a showstopper! I had the chicken pear salad which could have easily been two servings, so great value there. Host was a little unwelcoming. Everyone boasts about the Knife & Fork Club, but it was a major disappointment for us - barely anything in the sandwich & couldn't even taste the apricot aioli. The vegan bowl was amazing (although very salty). Cheese curds were also amazing, but for $14.50 not really sure it was worth it. It is nice they have 1 vegan option & a couple GF options (including desserts & Mac n cheese). Another cool thing about this restaurant is that they have pics of celebrities around the restaurant who are Wisconsin natives. read more

The place was packed at 4:30 on a Saturday evening but we were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar when a party got called for their reservation (which we were not able to make.) The place is like a well oiled machine. Every employee was in sync and constantly on the move. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked great. The old fashioneds were different from the standard fare and quite tasty. Cheese curds were delicious. Never had stroganoff soup before but they should serve it every day. I had the salmon and hubby had the prime rib. Both were very good and the asparagus was perfectly crisply cooked. Worth the drive to go there again for one of their other offerings. Hats off to you. Loved this place! Took the scenic view from Dousman- a gorgeous drive- and found ourselves at this cool old building. I guessed right, it was a hotel in its previous life. The inside is clean and modern. It's cool how they have portraits of famous Wisconsin natives on the walls. The food was served quickly and was delish. The salad was huge! I'm a member of Tripoli Shrine in Milwaukee and once a year we have a fundraiser where we go to Vadalia Georgia and bring vadalia onions to our area and this is the first year where I have asked restaurants if they would be interested in buying vadalia onions and supporting the Tripoli Shrine Children's Hospitals. I am happy to report that Fork in the Road has purchased vadalia onions from the Shriners which will be used around the end of April so see if you can tell the difference? read more
