Came here for the first time for a pre-party before the 4th of July fireworks. The service was amazing. The staff made sure we had everything we needed and they were very attentive. Wow ! Fantastic food. blackened mahi maji wrap was so good ! Service was exceptional- bartender was really cool & chef came out to check on us. Lasagna special was better than just about any place including a recent stop at a new place. Personal service- came out and checked if we wanted cheese on the garlic bread or just butter. And offered one piece of each. Would 100% recommend. The ambiance is really casual, bar / pub. Not fancy or pretentious. Best way to eat great food while hanging with good people. One of the best Italian beef sandwiches I've ever had! Located right off Phantom lake, this seems to be a nice little local bar that's serving up some good food. Stopped in for some drinks and ended up ordering dinner just based on some of the plates I saw coming out of the kitchen. I had the Italian beef with cheese and mushrooms. Usually I'll order this without the au jus just because it can be sort of salty, but their is delicious and not overwhelmingly riddled with sodium. Bar area is pretty typical, it's nice that they have a parking lot and boat slips outside. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everyone from the bartender to the cook, who came out of the kitchen and chatted with me for a bit. Can't wait to go back! read more

We wanted to try someplace new on a recent trip to the Elegant Farmer. We ate in the dining room which was nice. There was a separate bar room and it had a crew of people in their 20s and 30s who seemed to be having a great time. The bartender took our food order and another employee brought out the food when it was ready. I had the Italian beef sandwich which was tasty but the bun they used was one of the best I've ever had. My wife had the ribeye sandwich which she liked and our daughter had the cheeseburger that was huge. All of our lunches included crinkle cut fries which were delicious. The only downside was that there was a weird smell in the place. read more

Great atmosphere with a low key vibe. Went in a Friday with acoustic music being played that wasn't too loud and great songs. We ordered the mani mahi wrap and cod sandwich and everything was amazing, especially for the price. I will drive the 30 minutes back to go eat again. read more

Stumbled on this lakeside fish fry and it was amazing!! The baked cod wasn't on the menu but they accommodated. They also have Mahi-mahi and seared tuna. The owners are from Hawaii...relaxed...surprising retreat from the midwest. read more

Our new favorite place for food and a good drink! The bartender/waitress, Amanda is a 10 out of 10! We walked in and she remembered us from another place and said "New Zealand" to my husband who is from New Zealand. She remembered meeting us and everything about us. The place overlooks the lake and has a relaxing vibe. The menu is amazing! I'm a vegetarian and my husband loves a good burger. We ended up having a great appetizer and shared a pizza. Everything is homemade and amazing. One of the owners, Barbara, came out and introduced herself and couldn't have been more welcoming! I feel with a lot of local places closing down...this will be the new place to go. Had a lovely evening and great meal at Castaway. Can't wait to bring my Ma and Grandma for a fish fry! Very bad drinks and food, fish fry very greasy and they were out of so many things. Drinks were very watered down

Stopped in for drinks a few times. Seemed like a nice place. Decided to try it for dinner on a Saturday night. Dining area was empty and 2 couples sitting at the bar. We ordered our drinks at the bar and opted for a table outside. Mike the bartender brought the drinks out, but forgot the menu's. After a wait, he did bring them out. Small, limited, basic menu. We finished our drinks and no sign of Mike. After a wait we decided to pay up and go someplace else. Mike said sorry and the he and that he got busy with a big table (a party of 6). He then charged us $20.66 for 2 Bloody Mary's and 2 domestic beers. Bloody Mary's were good, but had no garnishes other than an olive. Pretty pricey for such lackluster cocktails. Mike didn't seem to be too concerned that we were leaving. Nice location. Hopefully they expand the menu and improve their customer service. read more

We arrived a little before 5 pm and while the bar was busy, we were the only diners. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken. I ordered the mahi mahi and my husband ordered the cod. Both were very good. The potato pancakes were homemade and served with apple sauce. The waiter was attentive and helpful. Soda is served by the can so there were more options than usual. We were still the only diners when we left about an hour later. Would definitely go back when we're in the area read more

Cod was thick and good but covered in a very thick greasy batter which ruined it. Tartar had dill and was tasty. Coleslaw was tasteless. Fries and potato pancakes were good. Half piece of light rye came unbuttered. Takeout. Wont go back. read more

Wow! That's the way I feel after eating here! Almost speechless. Came here with my husband and daughter to dine with a good friend. Was a little skeptical after reading the reviews. I am a little puzzled as the food was delish and staff was really friendly! We had the Hawaiian Burger and daughter has the pizza. We were not disappointed! Went here tonight for a burger and a beer. We were really hoping that it was like the old Lakeside that we really miss. It is a bar with bar food , not a restaurant. Waitress was more interested in wrapping silverware that checking to see if we needed anything. We were never offered water and beside the original drink order, that the waitress brought, we had to walk to the bar to get drinks. Did I mention that we were basically the only table? Loud drunks at the bar singing loudly and badly. A few drunks were outside and had lit something on fire, no idea what it was. Then then decided that it was a good idea to try to pick each other up. There was a manger maybe that watched these obviously over served patrons and shrugged, unconcerned. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. The parking lot patrons were overheard to say " dude you s***t on my arm.", on our way to the car. We won't be back and if you have children, do not bring them here. read more

Myself and my boyfriend decided to go to the Castaway for a fish fry, now this has been our third time there and the service the last two times was bad, we bit the bullet and decide to try it again. big mistake, drinks were ok, we ordered the fish fry's and waited sometime before we received our order. The clam chowder soup was at best average. Fish fry was just ok and what they called potato pancakes were burnt and didn't look good at all. I'm glad I ordered the fries. Now the main reason I have decided to write a review is....... the service sucked!! Now grant it the owners were the ones serving us and you would think being the owners they would be top notch, but they weren't. Has we were close to finishing dinner we noticed that one gentleman came in and sat down to have dinner. At this point there was just the 3 of us in the restaurant, and a few at the bar the owner made one of the biggest mistake I have ever seen, this one gentleman sat and waited for someone to take his order. The owner walked passed this man twice and never said a word to him and never acknowledge he was even there. Has we sat and watched this man be ignored I decided this was BS and decide to get someone to take his order, after he had been waiting 10 to 15 minutes I stood up to say something and the gentleman told me not to bother because he was leaving. These were the owners and to treat anyone like this is not acceptable. I will never go back or tell people to try it. These owners don't have a clue on how to run a business . I was so disappointed in this first visit. It was difficult to get past the "septic" smell in the restaurant or perhaps broccoli cooking. Whatever the case...PU! Service was great but perhaps because there weren't many customers..should of been our first clue. Had the fish fry. Thimble size serving of cole slaw that was tasty, greasy battered fish with an aftertaste of "aged oil", and french fries, all served on paper probably to soak up grease. Music playing in bar was a heavy duty Led Zepplin acoustic number. Kinda felt like I was in the Twight Zone. Would I return....noooo. read more
