She promptly returned my emails, answered my calls, and gave me great guidance when I asked her about set up, food amount, etc. I ended up doing a full-service themed buffet, and I'm so glad I did. We asked Fork in the Road to cater our housewarming party on December 30. They did a spectacular job for us! We went with the two sandwiches option plus a nice, fresh butter lettuce salad and fruit platter and no one was disappointed in their selections. The salmon sandwich was absolutely delicious and the salmon was so fresh and tasty. Everyone also raved about the skirt steak sandwiches! The young man who delivered our order was very professional, he came at the appointed hour and set everything up for us. Chef Kyle and Marissa are absolutely amazing. My wife and I have been planning a kind-of last minute wedding reception for the last 2-3 months and we wanted to keep it low key and simple and within a tight budget (we've got a lot going on right now). The filet was so tender and the chicken breast was was flavorful. The servers were very professional and made sure everything was replenished. I can not believe how amazing our experience was with this catering company. They catered our daughters wedding at Crystal Cove on 10/15. The had catered events there in the past so they knew what they were walking into.....No electricity, no running water and an outdoor venue where they had to bring their "Kitchen" to the parking lot. But what none of us could imagine was that it would rain and rain hard during the event. This did not seem to deter them. The food was HOT, and delicious. They plated 175 salads and then 175 dinners. Their servers were gracious, quick and so sweet. The servers were dripping wet as they had to carry plated meals through the rain to our tables in the tent. They did not complain and were joyful and helpful. One of the servers caught the attention of one of our family members who was blind. This server walked her into the tent when it started raining and gave special attention to her throughout the evening. I will recommend this catering company to everyone who is looking to cater a diner, a party or a wedding. Our experience from start to finish could not have been better. As we are not local, all the planning was done via email and phone. Marisa was incredibly responsive throughout the planning process. She customized a menu that was perfect for college students as well as parents and relatives. In fact, the culinary excellence was worthy of the highest Michelin star rating. For passed hors d'oeuvres we had Fried Chicken & Waffles, Ahi Poke Bowls with black Indonesian rice, Mini Beef Wellingtons, Pork Belly Wontons, Mushroom Crostini, and Stone Fruit Caprese. The entrée course consisted of a gourmet slider station with beef, braised beef short rib, and shrimp and crab cake sliders. The sliders were accompanied by epicurean sides such as bourbon bacon jam, yellow curry bream, and caramelized onions. Our guests loved the food! In addition to providing amazing food, the service was outstanding. Chef Jenn and her assistants arrived on time, set-up in the kitchen, brought all serving trays and dishes, and left the kitchen spotless. However, that's not all. Because the parties were on the 2nd floor of a Newport Beach home with no elevator, Chef Jenn and her assistants had to carry all the food, trays, dishes etc. up and down a flight of stairs. Our offer to help was politely declined. But that's still not all. I noticed during the party that the entryway floormat was askew as people were going in and out of the home. Our chef noticed the same thing, and I observed her quietly re-situate the mat! This is just one example of the incredible attention to detail that made our events a huge success with our guests. I've been eyeing on this catering company for about a year now and we had finally decided to give them a try based on food selections, our budget, customer sevice and reviews. I'm so glad we did. It was for my son's christening. Marisa and Kyle are just amazing! Marisa promptly responded to my email and answered all of my questions. I can't say enough about fork in the road! Marisa, and Kyle were lovely to work with. We spent a couple months before hand planning for my aunts 75th birthday celebration. From menu, to tables, chairs, and other logistics. She responded quickly through email or phone. The day of the event her team arrived on time and quickly began to set up. We had passed appetizers or shrimp and grits, gumbo shooters, and fried green tomatoes. For dinner we had Mac n cheese, fried chicken, greens, strawberry salad, biscuits and cornbread. There was a little mishap with the food and not being explained the "brining" process of the chicken ahead of time. But in the end it's worked out and the food was delicious. The next day for in the road catered a brunch for me as well. Everything from the service and food was more than what we could've expected! First, you cant have more wonderful people to cater your event. My wife and I got engaged and were in need of a caterer for our reception. We called Fork in the Road and we were absolutely impressed from the beginning. The great thing about this company is that Marissa and Kyle let you pick what you want to eat. Most catering businesses make you choose from a fixed menu....NOT AT FORK. My fiance and I met with Kyle and Marissa two times. The first time was to discuss what kind of food we like, ingredients we love and hate, and what our overall idea was in terms of food and appetizers for our wedding reception. Boy...we were not disappointed. Following our initial meeting to discuss ingredients we were given a complimentary tasting based on what we communicated in our initial meeting in terms of our likes and dislikes. The tasting far exceeded our expectations and while there were certain ingredients that we were not necessarily thrilled about along with other ingredients we would like to have in the dishes, Kyle and Marissa worked with us to ensure our menu was exactly what we were looking for... Our food ended up absolutely amazing!!! We had the Pork Cakes, mini grilled cheese with homemade tomato soup, hummus, bacon jam, Roast Beef, the most amazing chicken you have ever eaten, salad, veggies, and cous cous.... You know the food is great when your guests are still talking about how wonderful it was 4 weeks after the wedding. We loved the taste, the appearance of the dishes, and we could not have been happier. Additionally, Marissa helped us coordinate our chair rentals as we had to bring in all of our rentals into our venue. Marissa got us an amazing deal on chairs and helped coordinate the set up of the chairs on the day of our wedding....we could not have imagined working with anyone else to make our special day so perfect. Chicken Fajitas with cilantro rice & black beans were SO good and even the sides of guacamole & salsa were fresh, delicious & homemade. Beef Brisket with veggies and Mac-N-Cheese was a hit. Incredible! From my first conversation with Marissa, to the order process, pick up and then the eating(!) I was so so impressed by their professionalism and friendliness. We ordered a Father's Day meal which consisted of tri tip steak marinated in something incredible, roasted potatoes, roasted veg seasoned to perfection, chimichurri sauce, bbq sauce, salad (with blackberries, zucchini, seeds, pickled onions omg amazing) and bread rolls. Due to overeating at breakfast we never got around to eating the meal on Father's Day! So we saved it to the day after. So bear in mind this food has now sat in the fridge for 2 days.... It was still absolutely delicious! The meat was still soft and juicy, the salad still completely fresh and crisp. Honestly one of the best "take out" meals I have ever eaten. With working mandatory overtime, as a nurse, during this Covid-19 crisis, having healthy, home cooked, carefully and safely prepared meals has taken so much stress off.
