We ordered breakfast for a board meeting, yet not just any breakfast. A few on our board follow the "Jain" practice when it comes to food restrictions. The Jain veggie diet is one of the most strict forms of religiously-motivated diet regulations. basically, nothing with a root. No onions, garlic, eggs, gelatin. The food cannot even be placed next to anything that differs from this type of eating. No fruit can be next to bacon, so on and so on. The religion is all about non-violence (when it comes to people, animals, plants) all about peace "in the short and long of it". So this can be a challenge to say the least. In cooperating this type of catering, can be difficult. Yet, what a surprise when the breakfast showed up, with a CA style breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. And two Quiches made with Tofu and a beautiful fruit platter, honestly you wouldn't even be able to tell they weren't made with eggs. I even had several people that are veggie only eaters, try the quiche and they were so impressed!!! I actually tried it, and I am a meat and potatoes kind of gal, and it was simply amazing! In 2019, I hired John from CK Catering to cook food for my wedding that was originally scheduled for September 2020. In September 2019, John prepared a sample of all the food that was going to be served at our wedding and it was phenomenal. We were so excited and then COVID happened, so we postponed the wedding until September 2021. Amongst the craziness, John remained a constant professional. He followed up with us numerous times to check in and see how things were going. Once I had my new date locked down and I confirmed it with John, the experience could not have been better. On the day of the event, John and his team showed up early (in 93-degree heat) and got cooking! John is a true professional who goes at great lengths to understand your needs and preferences. He met with us 10 days before the event at our home to discuss the menu, setup AND cleanup. We were planning on having between 25 and 29 people and felt something at out home would be more intimate but we wanted the guests to have great food and we did not want to spend all of our time working :). We found several well rated Caterers using Yelp and decided to go with CK Catering for a number of reasons. For one thing I was impressed that John Feitz "owner" wanted to meet my wife and I at our home to find out what we wanted and tell us about what he and his team could do. John arrived with his daughter Amanda, who manages the staff on site. They do it ALL and you don't even know they were around. The food including a nice well prepared appetizers with a full dinner of salmon, tri tip, a fabulous mix of vegetables and yes one of my favorites made from scratch Mac and Cheese. The food was served on very nice throw away upscale plastic plates and they even cut the cake we purchased and served that as well. The cost was very reasonable for this area. I am an analytical person and I estimated that to get this kind of quality in a restaurant would have cost double. My wine costs were only 20% of what I would have paid out of my home and we opened 17 bottles. The meal we had would have been more as well. The bottom line is I will call John again and several of my quests are going to use CK Catering. Thanks John and Amanda- it is rare in this day and age where people deliver more that you expect! It was really nice not having to deal with the plates, napkins, silverware, and most of all the clean up. John took care of all of that for me. The only thing we had to clean up were the beverage glasses and table covers and we were done in a flash! John did an amazing job catering our dinner.
