John, his wife and daughter were amazing! They came early to set up for my daughter's baby shower. The food (small bites) was delicious, service was on point, and they cleaned up which made the whole experience enjoyable and stress free! From the first meeting with John to the end of the baby shower, John had attention to detail and was very understanding. I highly recommend CK Catering! read more

We ordered breakfast for a board meeting, yet not just any breakfast. A few on our board follow the "Jain" practice when it comes to food restrictions. The Jain veggie diet is one of the most strict forms of religiously-motivated diet regulations. basically, nothing with a root. No onions, garlic, eggs, gelatin. The food cannot even be placed next to anything that differs from this type of eating. No fruit can be next to bacon, so on and so on. The religion is all about non-violence (when it comes to people, animals, plants) all about peace "in the short and long of it". So this can be a challenge to say the least. In cooperating this type of catering, can be difficult. Yet, what a surprise when the breakfast showed up, with a CA style breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. And two Quiches made with Tofu and a beautiful fruit platter, honestly you wouldn't even be able to tell they weren't made with eggs. I even had several people that are veggie only eaters, try the quiche and they were so impressed!!! I actually tried it, and I am a meat and potatoes kind of gal, and it was simply amazing! Not only did it taste wonderful, I can tell that some serious research went into making this breakfast! And it was so appreciated on our end. Thank you CK Catering for taking the time and getting this right!!!! Our board members loved the breakfast! read more

CK recently catered my wedding at a private residence for around 60 people. Overall, the experience was amazing! The staff arrived early and was fully prepared for our guests. The night started with a beautifully crafted meat, fruit and cheese display along with bruschetta and spicy thai meatballs. We then moved to dinner; where he served a Mixed Green Salad, Slow Roasted Dry Rubbed Tri-Tip with a Jack Daniel's Demi Glace, Grilled Garlic & Herb Chicken Breast, Roasted Jalapeno & Bacon Five-Cheese Macaroni & Cheese, Garlic Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans with Grape Tomatoes & Grilled Onions and Maple Bacon Wrapped Large Shrimp. Everything was at the perfect temperature and not to mention so delicious! If you are searching for a catering company for your next event, keep this company in mind! From the quality of their food to the professionalism of everyone you interact with, you will not be disappointed! Thank you again CK Catering! read more

John is amazing! He was quick to respond to my message and worked with me on creating a special menu for my fiancé and I. The price was very reasonable, the food was delicious but what sold me was his great personality. He really cares and is passionate about what he does, you can taste it in his food! He even packed up the left over for us!! His wife is lovely and together they are a great team! I highly recommend him for any occasion! CK catered a XMAS eve dinner for 17 of us and it was FANTASTIC! We had salad, fettuccine, chicken piccatta and garlic bread. We had so many compliments on the entire meal! They even brought an apple crisp for dessert. We HIGHLY recommend the Culinary Kid and staff! read more

John and Tammy were great to work with. I had a graduation party for my daughter with 25 guests. When I inquired about his services he called back right away, which was great because he was on vacation at the time. John came up with a fabulous menu and quote that was very reasonable. He met with me at my home to see the layout since I was setting up dinner in our outside living area by the pool. They did about 95% of the cooking in the garage, as not to be intrusive of the party and only had to use my oven. We started with passed appetizers of chicken and waffles, shrimp with garlic sauce and Thai spicy meatballs. Everyone loved the appetizers, even the kids. Dinner was Ceasar salad, petite filet mignon, sea bass filet with macadamia nut butter, roasted garlic red potatoes, five cheese Mac & Cheese, grilled asparagus and baguettes and butter. All the food was delicious and John was very personable and easy to work with. Tammy and Dennis served in the dining room and John even cut and served the cake which I had purchased elsewhere. I would definitely recommend John and Tammy. read more

In 2019, I hired John from CK Catering to cook food for my wedding that was originally scheduled for September 2020. In September 2019, John prepared a sample of all the food that was going to be served at our wedding and it was phenomenal. We were so excited and then COVID happened, so we postponed the wedding until September 2021. Amongst the craziness, John remained a constant professional. He followed up with us numerous times to check in and see how things were going. Once I had my new date locked down and I confirmed it with John, the experience could not have been better. On the day of the event, John and his team showed up early (in 93-degree heat) and got cooking! For cocktail hour, John made Thai spicy meatballs, veggie egg rolls, and a strawberry salad, and made sure that a plate was delivered to my new wife and me as we were taking post ceremony photos. For dinner, John made tri-tip, garlic & herb chicken, mac & cheese, and grilled vegetables. The food was delicious and there was plenty for all our guests and vendors, including seconds for those who wanted it (and several people happily told us they went back for more). John and his team also included a complimentary cake cutting service for us. The event went off without a hitch. I couldn't be happier in hiring John as the caterer for our wedding! read more

Wow!!! John and his team made the yummiest food with all the exclusivity of having someone cook for you at your home. They knocked it out of the park with listening to our ideas, and even made something for the kids. The food was amazing, the portions were generous, we were so full. We even had leftovers which we definitely kept eating into the next day. We would without a doubt use them again, no questions asked! (They wore gloves and masks per some of our guests request, they do whatever you feel comfortable with) read more

There are not enough words to describe how grateful my husband and I are for having chosen John as our caterer for our wedding. He and his staff went above and beyond what we were expecting. John and Tammy were responsive to emails and last minute changes and didn't get frustrated with us for asking the same questions over and over again because I kept forgetting what their answers were. And the food. Oh my goodness. My family, being oriental, are nothing short of blunt. They can dole out criticisms faster than anyone I know and even they had to admit the food John prepared was DELICIOUS. I think my husband said it best "the food at the wedding was even better than at the tasting." And trust me, the food at the tasting was amazing. I can't recommend CK catering enough! read more

John created a delicious menu for our quarterly meeting, and was able to gain everyone's approval with the delicious Tri-Tip served with Horseradish cream sauce, the Chicken with a Dijon Chardonnay Sauce, and the perfectly cooked vegetables and tasty desserts. Their price is significantly lower than other competitors in the area as well! He even drove to get us a box of Starbuck's Coffee and came back to drop it off after delivering the food. Thank you John! I would absolutely recommend CK Catering for your next event. read more

I called CK at the last minute (2 days before) for my sons 1st birthday party. John called me and asked what I was looking to do. I gave him a price point and needed ideas on what we wanted. He quickly said everything was do-able, gave me a proposal and made everything happen so easy. He came and conquered. Every one loved the trip tip, shrimp, chicken, Mac and cheese and the string beans. He also specially made me chimichurri sauce at my request. I'm definitely going to use him again! read more

Ok...where do I start? I recently hired John and his team for a wedding brunch that we put on, last minute. Not only did he come through in a pinch, he was fair, honest and communicated the menu options quickly. The guy works hard and enjoys what he does for a living and it shows. For our brunch, John and his daughter showed up, set up, and cooked the best breakfast for our 25-30 guests. They were on time, engaging with the guests and cleaned up quickly. They even stayed an extra 30 minutes! The pricing is very reasonable. You definitely get more than what you pay for. Not only will I recommend John and CK Catering to anyone who asks, I plan on hiring him for my next get together. Thanks John! read more

Didn't even get to order from here, just from messaging the guy on here i could tell he was full of attitude. I needed to know how much per head they normally charge, you would have thought that was the worst thing I could ask him. He rudely told me " give me as much info so I can get you something your looking for. And an email address to send something to I'm not going to be texting with my thumbs the whole time sorry". Clearly this is a website, easily accessed by a computer. He was not willing to be generous and work with me while i asked a few questions before making a full decision of ordering from them. All in all, I was just trying to give him business and he lost it. I hope he isn't like this to all his customers. * What he commented is not true. I sent two messages that's it. We had four messages talking with each other when I posted this. Either way, he was rude. read more

John and his team are fantastic! I hired John to cater a small dinner for 11 to celebrate my father's 80th birthday party. The event was amazing and the food was so elegant and tasty! John worked with me to customize the menu to include all my dad's favorite things. We had tray passed appetizers, crab cakes, salad, chateaubriand and scallops, and bananas foster flambé for dessert. John really cares about serving everyone just what they want - he asked the group before every course for any dietary restrictions or modifications. Thank you so much, John, for making my dad's 80th so special! read more

CK Catering was fantastic! We needed a caterer for a last minute corporate happy hour and they were great to deal with all the way through. The preparation for the event was easy and John was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Day of - CK Catering was on time, took care of all the logistics and set up and allowed me to be hands off. As the planner of these events, it's rare I get to enjoy myself. With CK Catering's help, I was able to enjoy the happy hour with my team and didn't have to worry. The food was SO GOOD - the grilled cheese was my favorite :) . They were very personable to guests and created a fun, easy - going environment. I will be calling them again soon! It was a great success! read more

Can't recommend John and his catering company enough! We have an annual dinner party that we usually do the prep and cooking for 40-50 people. This year I decided to outsource it to CK Catering and I couldn't have been happier with my decision. I've never hired a catering company so I wasn't sure how it would play out. The food was excellent! The guests loved all the dishes (bacon wrapped dates were a fan favorite). The service was just as good if not better. They know exactly what to do and how to do it. It was the least stressed I've ever been and with some of the best food. If you are considering any catering company, don't hesitate. Had a graduation party for my son and last minute my vendor was denied by the rangers and had to find a new approved catering company to provide food for 100+ guests one week out. John and his crew came through even on short notice! There was plenty off food for all, including for our guests that are vegan. Everyone raved about how great the food was and the service provided by John and his crew. We had a great experience with CK Catering for a memorial service. John was quick to respond to my inquiry, asked all of the right questions around budget and what we were looking for, adjusted the menu for some specific food preferences, and showed up with a great crew and wonderful level of service. The meal was delicious, the presentation fantastic, and all of this for the exact dollar amount that I specified. To be a great caterer, you have to be able to prepare great food and deliver great service - CK does both of these incredibly well. read more

The grilled cheese and tomato bisque is so delicious! Culinary kid and staff are also so personable and friendly I highly recommend.

We rented a beach home in San Clemente this past weekend to celebrate my 60th birthday. We wanted to have an intimate party with 14 total guests. My children were struggling trying to find a caterer to host the party. Some people would not even return their calls or even consider a small party like ours. Then they discovered CK Catering and it was all seemless after that. Since we were staying at a rented house they also requested tables and chairs for 14 which CK was able to provide. The event was fantastic and the appetizers, and food for dinner was superb. They brought everything and cleaned everything up. All of our guests were amazed. I would recommend this business to anyone for any size party. Thank you CK Catering! Cathy R. read more

The best catering experience we have ever had! Years ago, John did a get together for us at our house with several of our friends. To this day, I can remember the tenderness of the chicken and the flavor-full menu he served. His presentation was superb, he was professional, and what an amazing cook! We moved out of the area, but have always kept in touch. Sometimes in this world, you need some great connection. Some times you just need some great food & someone to get it right. John is what you're looking for. You won't be disappointed. I've never had a catering experience like him since- but look forward to going back to Cali to do it all again. 10 stars! read more

We called John to cater our mother's memorial Celebration of Life. We wanted finger type foods that people could eat while walking around and not have to carry a plate or cutlery. John created a wonderful menu, all fresh and made on site, and the guests just adored it all! If there is such a thing as a "hit" at a memorial celebration, it was surely the catering. My family was able to mingle and visit with guests during this emotional day, without having to worry a bit about food, mess, clean up, or making sure the guests were attended to. We would hire CK Catering again and again and again and cannot thank them enough for their positive attitudes, gracious serving, and delicious food. A true God-send. Thank you, CK Catering (and especially John, the owner) for the care he took in making this a memorable day for all. read more

John prepared, setup and served outstanding food during a memorial outdoor reception for my wife in our back yard. John is a true professional who goes at great lengths to understand your needs and preferences. He met with us 10 days before the event at our home to discuss the menu, setup AND cleanup. His food is outstanding and goes out of his way to please the guests and the host. He handles all the details and setup everything while we were at the funeral service at church. He started the food service with waiters on my cue and in no time delicious food was served. He and his team also cleans up EVERYTHING and you don't have to do anything after the event. (Something to consider here!) Any left over food was properly packed up and stored in our fridge without having to ask for it. I highly recommend John for all your catering needs! read more

We hired John and his crew to cater our daughter's Sweet 16th birthday party. He was helpful with the menu, creating the perfect fruit and cheese display, caprese skewers, butternut squash soup, grilled veggies, mac and cheese, and the crowd favorite.. 3 flavors of milkshakes for the kids. He was on top of the timing of the food from start to finish, and even helped us with perfectly slicing the cake for the guests (something we hadn't even discussed ahead of time.) What a great experience I just had with John and the rest of the CK Catering crew. I had a death in the family, and was put in charge of the reception after the memorial service. I don't live in the area, so I went to Yelp for some guidance. That's when I found CK. The reviews were strong, so I decided to give John a call. Dealing with him was fast, easy and non pretentious. I contacted him on a Friday for a Wednesday event and felt comfortable and confident with my decision the entire time. This was just from communicating with him. Now for the event. The CK Catering team arrived early and started setting up without my having to be there. Awesome! The display was incredible, as was the service, but the flavors were even better. It was worth every penny. We will definitely use them again when in town, as will scores of guests who took cards home with them. Thank you John! read more

We had John cater for our babies 1st birthday party. And he was phenomenal! We had some pre-ordered food; but needless to say no one touched that food. Everyone was just focused on John's food! John and his assistant catered our team dinner for about 18 - 20 people. They were at the location on time and brought everything that we needed for a great event. It was really nice not having to deal with the plates, napkins, silverware, and most of all the clean up. John took care of all of that for me. The only thing we had to clean up were the beverage glasses and table covers and we were done in a flash! John did an amazing job catering our dinner. I provided him our attendees' dietary requirements, allergies, etc. and he came up with an awesome menu that pleased everyone's pallet and he was within our budget. The food was superb to say the least. The food was freshly cooked on site and the meal was nice and hot when we ate. We had an array of appetizers that were all very good but my favorite was the vegetable flat bread pizza. What flavor!!! We decided to have a nice 100th birthday party for my wife's Mom. We were planning on having between 25 and 29 people and felt something at out home would be more intimate but we wanted the guests to have great food and we did not want to spend all of our time working :). We found several well rated Caterers using Yelp and decided to go with CK Catering for a number of reasons. For one thing I was impressed that John Feitz "owner" wanted to meet my wife and I at our home to find out what we wanted and tell us about what he and his team could do. John arrived with his daughter Amanda, who manages the staff on site. They do it ALL and you don't even know they were around. The food including a nice well prepared appetizers with a full dinner of salmon, tri tip, a fabulous mix of vegetables and yes one of my favorites made from scratch Mac and Cheese. The food was served on very nice throw away upscale plastic plates and they even cut the cake we purchased and served that as well. The cost was very reasonable for this area. I am an analytical person and I estimated that to get this kind of quality in a restaurant would have cost double. My wine costs were only 20% of what I would have paid out of my home and we opened 17 bottles. The meal we had would have been more as well. The bottom line is I will call John again and several of my quests are going to use CK Catering. Thanks John and Amanda- it is rare in this day and age where people deliver more that you expect! You made a 100 year old birthday celebration something to remember. PS - Amanda told me they can cater groups as small as 10 to 12. How nice is that. read more

John and his crew catered our Christmas party last night and we LOVED everything about their service -- they came in plenty of time to be ready for our guests, the food was to DIE for, and they even cleaned up afterward! Another unexpected -- but very appreciated -- surprise was the calm demeanor of John and his entire crew. Their peaceful personalities helped me to really enjoy this evening. I didn't worry about a single thing. I highly recommend CK Catering. We will definitely call them again. read more

Dearest Michele A: YOWZA! That is A LOT of venom from someone who wasn't at the event in question. In the emails John and I exchanged he acknowledged that he had exercised extremely poor judgment and accepted full responsibility for the inadequate portion sizes (side note: after I posted my review I started getting calls from friends saying, "I'm so glad it wasn't just me! We asked for more and they said no." or "We went back for seconds but all the silverware and serving utensils were gone." (Food was out in chafing dishes...lovely...no way to access or eat it....awesome) or, the one that killed me, "I can't believe any man here is full. I'm not a big guy, so I was okay, but I can't imagine a larger guy getting full from that serving." This wasn't just us being hypersensitive; this is obviously a systemic issue in John's organization.). If it is truly your opinion that my review stating that John approaching a guest at my party about working his MLM business and throwing away the leftover food constitutes me being "whiny", then you and I embrace vastly different definitions of the word. All I needed was for John to offer to make this right for us when I initially raised my concerns. That he didn't was truly disappointing. If you would like to educate yourself as to the facts of our experience please feel free to message me and I will happily provide you with a copy of our email exchange. John is lucky to have an advocate like you; I dearly wish we had received the same level of customer service, respect, and responsiveness that he has obviously provided to your referrals. read more
