This location is on Frankford Avenue which is a great location! There's no menu on the wall, they have printed ones available once you're ready to order which probably is part of the slow service issue. Maybe because the dinner menu changes? It took more than 30 minutes for my Americano. I did see a drink spill behind the counter, but even then there's no sense of urgency. My husband left without his drink since he needed to be somewhere and I just waited for both our drinks. They have some savory items and then some baked goods. The baked good are in a glass case where the menus are...waist level where someone stands to make an order. Since the baked goods are in that case, once again, customers have to move for them to grab a baked good which takes time! The service wasn't bad but the individual who took our order wasn't enthusiastic nor was the individual mean. It's nice to be met with a kind smile at the brink of anyone's morning so that was missing. Some feedback I think that could really improve the spot! My iced americano was perfect! I'd come back again and give it another shot. Love the sage green everywhere!

Killer breakfast sandwich! Bacon, egg, and cheese on a huge, fluffy biscuit! So good!

The breakfast sandwich here is BANGIN'! It's a bacon, egg, and cheese on a huge, light, fluffy biscuit with a choice of bacon or onion jam! Watch out, it just might be addictive! Also, great coffee served by a hip and friendly staff in a welcoming, comfortable space that is laptop friendly (WiFi and outlets).

New chef Ariel Tobing! The chicken ginger soup had a really incredible broth! It's gingery and savory without being overly salty. It's a comforting taste - it almost tasted like it had some fragrance like lemongrass but not quite that. I am missing where the crispy chicken skin is though. My bowl didn't look as advertised on ig lol. The sweet chicken rice was almost exactly as advertised. The sweet chicken was perfectly soy seasoned. The cukes help cut through the richness of the dish (they are not actually spicy). The added egg felt worth it - jammy and tasty. I think the miss for me is the tumeric rice felt more coconut or something which overall made the dish true to the name sweet. The matcha coconut pudding (haupia) was so light and well balanced. The matcha flavor is not that strong or bitter. The coconut is pretty sweet so best to have a bite of both layers instead eating layer by layer. I have to come back to try the breakfast sandwiches

Staff is friendly! Music is chill! Wifi is fast! And the breakfast sandwich and drip coffee are shockingly, memorably good.

A little pricey for the amount for food you get, but the breakfast sandwich is delicious.

The Spritz drink from the happy hour menu was a delight (although still expensive at $9). We ordered the oysters, which were delicious and they came with 4 sauces (tomatillo, mignonette, cocktail, carrot habanero). The fries were delicious and we loved the aioli they were served with (bonus that they're $6 on the hh menu). The Birchrun Blue cheese was incredible and came with a generous portion of bread and a tasty horseradish jelly. The chicory salad and Caesar Brussels sprouts were both outstanding veg dishes. We finished our meal with the frozen yogurt. The flavor options weren't my favorite but I believe these are seasonal. To summarize, the prices are a bit steep here but the vibes, service, food and drinks are all fantastic!

Maybe it was because we thought the restaurant's culinary concept was somewhat mundane ("picnic"). Maybe it was the simplicity of the food or ingredients on the menu... BUT BOY WERE WE WRONG! THE FOOD WAS GREAT! Simple dishes, yes...but executed really well! We were surprised, but maybe we shouldn't have been. With the super-friendly service and unique open concept warehouse meets magic garden decor, we will definitely be back...at least for the prime rib special! And yes, it's "deep into Fishtown." So deep, in fact, that it's full on past Fishtown and actually in East Kensington. This swanky, hip place…read moreoffers up elevated tasty food and superb service in an exquisitely decorated, albeit small, cafe. We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

I felt like I ordered the wrong combination. I was able to do an egg sandwich and swap for sourdough bread vs eng muffin. Love that. Didn't love the copper sharp cheese that was a bit messy and tangy. I kept thinking they must have added some type of sauce on it. I'd much rather come back for a simple fried egg combo and chedda cheese. I was also offered sparkling water, but I do wish it had more fizz. The service start to finish was superb in friendly and fast service. I'd come back for mimosa/bar for sure.

Highly recommend making a reservation as it's a small place with about enough table seating for 20-30 people at a time. For food with started off with the focaccia which was divine! It had the perfect amount of sweet salt and the bread was still soft with the perfect crunch. For mains, we had the vodka rigatoni which was delicious! It wasn't that spicy to me but was the perfect portion size. The pasta didn't come with the option to add a protein so that's something to keep in mind. I loved that all the drinks they offered were made locally by PA breweries and wineries. They also have an amazing share meal deal that allows you to try multiple dishes for a good price. Can't wait to try this place again the next time I'm in Philly

Our waitress actually let us sample a few of the wines, since we couldn't decide! This was awesome and so rare these days, but a definite plus for any "wine bar". That being said, the food was really underwhelming. The highlight for me was the tuna crudo, which was so flavorful, creative, and absolutely melted in my mouth. The carrots were also really good. The pastas, however, which the place is known for, lacked flavor. The menu descriptions seemed super unique and innovative, but when the dishes arrived, they were seriously lacking. I really did come here for the pasta, and since the meal wasn't exactly cheap, I don't think I'll be rushing back.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!
