Loved this Thai bistro in Bushwick, Brooklyn! On arrival, I noticed the beautiful exterior with vines surrounding the front door. As soon as you walk in you find a simple, classic design that warmly invites the visitor in. There is a tree in the middle of the restaurant that adds a touch of beauty to the ambiance of the restaurant. There's also a lot of natural light coming into the restaurant with its many glass panels. For appetizers we got Gui Chal Tord, which is a pan fried chive cake with sweet soy sauce. It was crispy and simply yummy. We also got the Pla Muk Tord, which is crispy fried calamari served with a spicy mayonnaise. The calamari was soooo delicious. For our mains we had the Gaeng Dang, which is a Thai style red curry with bamboo shoots, basil leaves, carrots, eggplant and bell pepper simmered in a coconut milk. For our protein choice, we chose stewed beef. The curry was absolutely delicious and felt quite light eating it. We also got the Pad Prik Khing Goong, which is spicy sautéed shrimp with bell peppers, string beans lime leaves with Prik Khing Chili Paste. We asked for it to be spicy and boy was it. The dish was so good to devour. We ended the evening with the chocolate lava cake with coconut ice cream, and the lychee crème brûlée. Crème brûlée is one of my favorite sweets so having it with a lychee twist peaked my curiosity and am I glad that I did. It added the perfect addition to a scrumptious meal. There's new Winter cocktails for the season and the presentation was so cool! These cocktails screamed Christmas and paired well with all the delicious Thai food. The two cocktail names are Christmas Eve and Whimsical Smoke. For non-alcoholic drinks, I got the Mango Meadow and Lychee Thai Iced Tea. The mocktails were so refreshing. The food I ordered was: Taro Puff Peek Gai Mak Khamin Tord Goong Nueng Ma Nao Pad Thai Lobster Tail Khao Phad Pla Mueng Moo Yaang I liked the sweet and sticky wings and their shrimp salad was fresh and spicy. I never had squid ink in fried rice, but that dish was so yummy and had a whole fried octopus tail! The Pad Thai with a lobster tail was my fav. The lobster was grilled and the noodles were slightly sweet and tamarind-y. The pork chops were super tender and came with a great dipping sauce. Service was great and food came out fast. BEST PAPAYA SALAD I'VE EVER HAD, 10/10. It was seasoned so perfectly; just the right amount of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy (it's not very spicy). I would return just for this alone. I also tried the gui chai tord, pan fried chive cakes, that tasted increasingly better the more I ate it. I loved how softly fried the outside was, but still soft and chewy (kind of like a mochi consistency) on the inside. 4.5/5 For my entree I ordered the pad thai with tofu and it was good but it might've been overshadowed by how amazing the papaya salad was. (water glass stayed full!) on to the food! we ordered family style, starting with papaya salad sans nuts & YOWZA, i just kept on eating it! the combination of flavors really packs a punch to the tastebuds. absolute fire, that salad! i'd spin the block for that ALONE. we also ordered the wings (delish), panang curry with shrimp (PHENOMENAL with the jasmine rice), & the pad thai with tofu (wouldn't get again). we had the chocolate lava cake for dessert which was warm & gooey but i wasn't a fan of the fruity pebbles on the plate. last but NEVER least, the thai iced tea was perfection! A cute restaurant in Bushwick we went on a Saturday evening around 7:30. We didn't have a reservation but decided to wait for a table vs eating at the bar. The wait was around 15 min for a booth. The hostess was polite as was all of the staff. We ordered the following Duck buns - just ok. The duck to bun ratio was light and would have liked it to be juicier Crab and Cream Cheese wontons - to be fair I'm not a fan of cream cheese in rolls/wontons etc. my friend wanted them. Forever Thai was a quiet, lovely spot to have a meal. All of the food we got was flavorful but jot overpowering. The meats and noodles were cooked well but not to the point of falling apart. I'd love to come back again and try more food! Pad Kee Mau (with beef): The beef was tender and delicious. The noodles were soft and cooked well and the sauce stuck well. There was definitely sauce but it wasn't to the point where it made the rest of the dish mushy. Mas-sa-man Curry: This curry had a light spice that anyone should be able to handle. We got it with chicken and it was delightful. There was this aroma that came with it and you can taste it too. Definitely loved eating this with rice. Som Tum Thai (Spicy Papaya Salad): As the name suggests, there is a slight kick but you'll be okay with some water. The salad was tangy, spicy, and crunchy. My friends absolutely loved this. Im on the fence with this place but I will give a review combining my experience from my two visits. Ambiance: 5/5 this place is super cute with lovely decorations and great atmosphere. Its nkt a huge establishment so I would highly recommend it for date night and smaller groups. There is a lovely bar that is also great for seating. Food 4/5: the food here is delicious. Ive tried multiple options and have been satisfied each time. I would recommend the Thai basil fried rice, massaman curry, and stir fry dishes. The drinks are also great no matter which option you go with. If I do go back it would likely be during a non busy time just for the food and a quick drink. Service: 2/5 this is where I am on the fence. The first time I was here we sat at the bar and service was quick and the bartenders were friendly a 5/5 experience. Though coming here with a larger group was a nightmare experience. We had a reservation for 8 people, and were told immediately right before sitting that we only had an hour and a half to eat dinner. Now for a group of 4 people that may be attainable but any experienced establishment knows that larger groups need more time. To make matters worst we waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our order leaving us with only 1 hour to eat our food which lets be honest is just impossible. Now I will say that once we ordered our food it came out in 5-10 minutes which was impressive and also suspicious but we were very gracious at the turnaround. However being here for a wedding celebration with gifts, multiple courses and 3-4 rounds of drinks (which took significantly longer than the food) 1 hr to eat was just not possible. We were rushed multiple times and then asked if we could get up even though we hadn't even received our last order of drinks!!! To make matters worst it took 45 mins to pay the bill because and I quote (you cant put too much money on your card or it wont go through) so eventually we were forced to take out cash being that our bill was over $500 (apparently you they can only processes around $100 from the card?) it just all made no sense. Needless to say the end of the night was very stressful confusing and put a damper on what would have been a lovely night. Moral of the story: most of the group will probably not be going back. This is our third time here. Everytime we come we try something new. We started with pork dumplings( no pic) which were good sprinkles of nuts elevated the dish. We also Tried the wanton soup which was ooofffh so good. The broth was amazing and wanton were fresh. For dinner we had the chicken Massaman. This dish came with slices of guac on top. Really great flavorful Thai cuisine. I usually get the shrimp with fried rice. It has a Thai name but it's hard to remember. Also tried the crappy duck which was cooked to perfection, crispy, not greasy at all and didn't have that overpowering duck taste. It came with asparagus. We also tried the glass noodles with shrimp and vegetables, more like a stir fry. Also tasty. The appetizers were the crab Rangoon and the chive pancakes. My mom especially loved those. She said the basil fried rice was too spicy(for her, it was spicy but that's my preference.) the service was fast, nothing took too long to come out. The waitress explained everything in depth to us since we weren't all familiar with menu items. And the ambiance is great for after work with friends, large groups, or even a date. We were a party of four and walked in on Saturday evening without a reservation and had no issue being seated. We split three entrees and two appetizers and it was a good amount. The service was good and the food came out fast. For apps we got the wings and fried shrimp balls. The sauce of the wings were super sticky but overall very flavorful. Shrimp balls werent a fan for some but I thought it was delicious! I thought the mains were fine. Nothing super special. We tried the spicy wide noodles, minced pork dish, and the panang curry. Apologies for no names. The noodle dish was by far the best. I felt the meat rather mushy texture and the curry was probably my least favorite. Tab came out to $80- so reasonable. I did not have a good experience here. Do not let the decor fool you. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was quickly seated. We ordered drinks: margarita and the hidden blast cocktail. I was watching the bartender make the drink and he used a spoon to taste the drink and **put the spoon back in the mixer** and then poured the drink. ahh!! Between the welcoming staff, bright decor, and explosion of flavors it's no supprise that this place is a crowd favorite. My favorite dishes here are the fried spring rolls, Guay Tiew Pad Thai with shrimp, Panang curry with crispy pork, and pad sie eiew. The Thai Ice tea was refreshing as well and highly recommended.
