Fun little open-air train that starts near the Fort Worth zoo and follows a 40 minute out and back route along the trinity river and Trinity Park. Beautiful views and a pleasant ride, if you're willing to sacrifice a bit of comfort. My 6'1" husband's legs barely fit in the train and my butt was numb by the end, but it was a small price to pay for the joy of the ride. My kids thought it was the most fun thing they'd done in a while, and we do lots of fun things. Whether or not you consider this to be an expensive activity probably depends on how many kids you have. I read a few reviews that thought this was cheap fun, but we paid $37 for our family of 7. Ouch! FYI the current prices (as of Feb 2020 anyway) are $5 per kid and $6 per adults. CASH ONLY. FYI: I think there used to be two pick up stations but the day we went the train was only picking up from the zoo station. The train left every hour on the hour, with the last departure at 4pm. The train was definitely full to capacity, so I would advise arriving 15 min before departure so you can be there when the previous train arrives and snag your seats together. read more

CORRECT ADDRESS: 1700 Colonial Parkway CASH ONLY! My 2 year old loves this train! The train comes approx. every hour. They can close up if it gets too hot (100 degrees or more, or super cold/bad weather) you can call of you are unsure. Their website also provides the times/days they are open, seems to change every season. Even on hot days when the train is moving you usually get a nice breeze, you go over bridges and can count turtles in the eater, under bridges, through parks and wave at the people and bicyclists. It stops about halfway through and you can grab a drink, snacks or ice cream, they only stop for about 5 minutes though. DO NOT hold up the train, a lady was halfway in a train car waiting for the rest of her family and got yelled at in front of everyone by the conductor. What a surprisingly fun and pleasant experience. We arrived and fortunately had done the research that they take cash only. We only had to wait 15 minutes for the next train and there was plenty of shade to wait in. Once it arrived, the boarding process was first come first serve and we had not problems getting a good seat. The train takes off toward Trinity Park going over the river and then under the freeway. The route has some cools sights that you would not normally see. We turned around near the Duck Pond and then stopped at a stop for about 10 minutes where people could buy food, etc. After that, we passed where we boarded the train and turned around almost near University so that the train could be facing the right way for the next ride. The kids loved it! The parking lot was dusty and gravel but that is about my only complaint. read more

The 40min ride takes you around trinity park and along the river. The train itself could use some updating as the seats look like they are falling apart. read more

My three year old loved this train ride! They leave every hour and the entire experience lasts about an hour. We almost missed the train by seconds but the staff was great enough to hold off another minute so we could hop on. Definitely going back as often as possible! read more

Fun experience, but could be better. The train went a good distance and my daughter loved it, though I wish they had better seats. The carriage trains were old, rusty, and dirty, and the seats were hard....especially for the 40-ish minute ride. For the amount that they are charging per person, they should update the train. I can't believe no one has left a review for this before. To start: CASH ONLY! $4.50 per adult and $3.50 for a kid. We have done this train ride close to 50 times the past 5 years. It is a great ride for the kids while also relaxing for adults. The ride itself is about 45 minutes. Trains run every 30 minutes. If a train is down for repair, then it runs every 50 minutes. This train starts right before the Fort Worth Zoo The entrance and you'll see it on your left hand side when driving in. The directions on Yelp take you to the middle of Trinity Park. You can also get on at this location and do a round trip; however, parking usually sucks because the park is very busy. Getting on at the zoo takes you all the way to the end of Trinity Park then you loop around to the middle of the park and take a 5 minute break. Popcorn, water, and soda is sold here. All cash. All $1.50 each. You then head back to the beginning of the zoo. You'll see the pillar art that is under the bridges. You'll see many turtles as well. We also saw a beaver in the water yesterday. This is so fun to take kiddos to. It's about 45 minutes long which is great. First train runs at 11am and then every hour after that last train runs at 5pm. Cash only!!!!! I use to ride this train as a child with my parents, now I take my own daughter whenever we're in town. She's only an infant now, but loves looking around and trying to touch the plants and trees that we pass. I will definitely continue to take her back as she gets older. It's nothing amazing, and only goes about 20 mph, so for adults or older kids it may be boring. But it's a great treat before or after the zoo. My parents use to take me after a long day at the zoo to wind down before going home. It's such a Ft. Worth staple and hopefully will stay for a long time. $4 for adults, $3.50 for kids 1yr and older, cash only Their hours vary a bit depending on the season and weather conditions. So it's just best to call if you're not sure. As of this summer they are open Wed-Sun 9am and will close early if it gets too hot. Parking is plentiful and right next to it, but it's in an unpaved gravel lot. read more

First of all the address to get on the train is wrong. You have to go over by the zoo, we learned that the hard way. No one ever picks up the phone so no need calling. As for what you see on the ride.... nothing but a park. The best part is the beginning of the ride because you do get to go over some bridges. The things you do for your kids. A 40 minute ride on a hard seat from the Zoo to Forest Park. Actually a little further than Forest Park. It takes you quite far. It stunk because of the Trinity River. You go over a rickety bridge. With the train full, I'm pretty sure you will end up in the nasty water. It was nice, my kids enjoyed it, but after about 15 mins in those hard seats I was like just let me off at the Food truck park or Pappasitos. read more

The train ride itself was fun and the kids loved it. There was a person named Jack that works for the train, who was incredibly rude! It wasn't just to me it was to everyone there. The kids were terrified of him and he spoke to the adults like we were toddlers. If he's there I will not be taking my children back. This is Fort Worth's best kept secret for places to take young children! We just took our granddaughter on this train and found the 45 minute ride quite enjoyable and she loved it. It was a great ride! It got a little long for our toddler but only because the short attention span. Overall it was a really great cheap thing to do.
