We hit it with perfect timing right when the zoo opened at 10 am so most animals were active right after their morning feedings. There are interactive talks at the exhibits scheduled throughout the day. It is not quite as random as at smaller zoos where you might stumble across a team member willing to share their passion about one of the animals. There is some ongoing construction so you have to double back on the route. The food they had was very good and affordable for a large tourist attraction. Would definitely return!

Overall, this was one of our favorite zoo experiences. It surpassed both the San Antonio Zoo and the Austin Zoo for us simply because of the number and variety of animals. My husband and I were waiting next to a booth that no one was in so I decided to pick up the ducks just to see how to play a game. Someone starts yelling behind me. We turned around and this guy named Ed comes straight up to my husband and starts yelling IN HIS FACE saying that we can't touch the ducks, That's cheating. My husband was telling him we weren't going to play the game anyway and to just calm down. Ed is yelling loud at this point, everyone is watching, so I ask him what his name is and he said that his name is Ed in the most RUDEST way I have ever experienced in my life. Apparently he owns Talley, I'm not quite sure, but he started degrading us telling us in front of the public that we must not know about Carnival games and my husband said, well why don't you just tell us instead of yelling at us and so we decide to walk away from the situation. Park opened at 12pm. It was a heat wave type of day with temps in the high 90s. My kids went on a couple of rides but alot of rides we decided not to go on because the sun made the seats really hot. They should seriously consider putting up tents/shades for the rides. My favorite coasters were the New Texas Giant and Titan. I also went on Mr.Freeze, Pandemonium, Superman,and Tormenta. Tormenta is the newest roller coaster there now but I hated it. The ride was bumpy, not smooth at all and towards the end, when its trying to get back to the station it would stop and go, stop and go, stop and go so many times. If the ride itself didnt give you a headache, that part will. Even though it wasnt busy, wait times for certain coasters and rides were long because they only had 1 car running. Mr. Freeze had a long wait time. Superman had a long wait time even though the app said less than 15 minutes. I waited roughly 30 minutes before i actually got on the ride and that was only because i was a single rider and I asked them if I can cut all the way to the front, after I waited until I was close enough to the front to talk to a worker that was there. I probably cut like 3-5 cars worth of people, each car would take like 8-12 people at a time. There was a good amount of self soda/water refill stations located all over the park. Needs more shade though. My kids (2 and 4yo) enjoyed interacting with the fright fest scary actors. My 4yo was a bit scared at first but the actors were very nice to young kids and gave fist bumps so my kids got very comfortable with them. Even though I was planning on leaving aroubd 7pm, my son wanted to find the "scariest and biggest" monster in the park so we stayed later to walk around the scary atmosphere and we were lucky to find "Cookie and Sparky". The actors mostly concentrate towards the front of the park and Gotham area. My kids enjoyed their day and thats the most important although some things couldve been better. .

Admission was $12 per person, and nearly all the arcade games are included with admission. Play as much as you want! We easily spent 3-4 hours here, and everyone had a great time. With the Texas temperatures blazing outside, an air-conditioned arcade was also a pretty darn good place to spend the afternoon! There is a huge selection of games with plenty for both kids and adults. Basketball, racing, classic arcade games--you can wander around for hours. Then my son-in-law discovered the claw machines. Once he started, it snowballed into stuffed toy after stuffed toy. By the time he was finished, we had enough stuffed animals spread across the table to open our own toy store! Be warned, though: the claw machines are NOT included with admission and you pay separately to play. Apparently nobody bothered explaining that to my son-in-law before he went into full claw-machine domination mode! We also ordered pizza, and it was very good. It's a thin-crust style, loaded with toppings and made for a perfect break between games. Of course, with a name like Cidercade, we had to sample the cider! There were plenty of choices, and the ones we tried were very good. For $12 admission and several hours of entertainment, I think Cidercade is an outstanding value. More importantly, our grandson had a fantastic birthday outing and the entire family enjoyed themselves. As my kids grow, there will still be new things here for them to try. I participated with my kids instead of watching from the sidelines, and I had just as much fun as they did. If you're bringing younger children, I'd definitely recommend wearing comfortable clothes and tennis shoes and being prepared to climb, crawl and explore with them if that's your parenting style. The goal is to find each letter and punch the yellow ticket (M-A-Z-E). I am so glad that we all did it because I would still be stuck there. I failed to read the instructions when I started so you're supposed to punch your yellow card when you start and punch it again when you leave the maze. I did not keep track of it, but we did find all of the letters and there were a few that I had a hard time finding which were the ones that were up the stairs so you can see the whole maze from above. There is an observation deck that is free next to the maze. A few of the parents were telling their children how to go in the maze from up there. So you can watch the kiddos complete the maze. It is a neat challenge and something fun to do with children.
