We had a fun visit to this zoo! We are members of the Dallas Zoo so reciprocity is 50% off per ticket. Arrive at 9:30 to get tickets and get in line to enter on a weekend. There is a ton of shade to walk under. The animal enclosures are large and spacious. We hit it with perfect timing right when the zoo opened at 10 am so most animals were active right after their morning feedings. There are interactive talks at the exhibits scheduled throughout the day. It is not quite as random as at smaller zoos where you might stumble across a team member willing to share their passion about one of the animals. There is some ongoing construction so you have to double back on the route. The food they had was very good and affordable for a large tourist attraction. Would definitely return! read more

We had such a great time at the Fort Worth Zoo. As a family that truly loves animals, we really appreciate the chance to see a wide variety of exotic, wild, and endangered species, and this zoo absolutely delivered. There was an impressive diversity of animals, and most of them were visible and easy to observe. We saw elephants, lions, panthers, and even some playful monkeys that danced and interacted near the windows, which was a highlight for us. It was a bit crowded the day we visited, but the zoo still felt spacious and comfortable to walk through. I would describe it as medium-sized, but very well laid out with plenty to see. Overall, this was one of our favorite zoo experiences. It surpassed both the San Antonio Zoo and the Austin Zoo for us simply because of the number and variety of animals. The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere was fun, and the entire visit was enjoyable from start to finish. We will definitely be coming back. read more

This zoo was outstanding. It's like a Disney amusement park. Needs a little background music. The enclosures, walkways everything was very well done. Some sections were under construction but I can only imagine how much nicer it will be when it's done. We went on a Wednesday and it's half priced. $45 for 4 adults is extremely affordable. I was in town for a Cowboys game and a friend recommended the FTW ZOO, and I'm glad they did. This is one of the best zoos I've ever been to. The layout was wonderful, the wildlife was mesmerizing, and they even offered a military discount, which we took advantage of. Though, discount aside, prices in general were not too expensive. Fall is the seriously best time for Zoo perusing! We are still members and loving it. Today was perfect weather, we got to see Pancakes the baby giraffe, Birdie the new baby elephant born to BlueBonnet, but the two lion cubs were not out quite yet. Oh yes, the baby Colobus monkey named Corey was out as well. Definitely a baby boom at the Fort Worth Zoo. There was signage for a new exhibit ("Forests and Jungles!"), so exciting!! We went here thinking the zoo was small, but we ended up spending the entire day here like from opening to closing 10 am to 4pm. We were able to do 2 laps of the zoo. The first time around we spent a good 4 hours. We did ended up eating here and the prices were not too bad. We paid $18 dollars per ticket and parking was $5 dollars which was not bad. If you go in the morning, be prepared for most of the animals to not be there and just walk around the part. Some of the animals are there, so it is important if you do not see them the first time to go do a 2nd round. The park is divided into sections, Africa, Australia, Texas and Reptiles. The Texas area is where we spent most of the time as there is a petting zoo, beware of the poop however. The place is kept clean and nice. They do have a train and carousel , but you have to pay for those. Food wise, they have 2 food courts, one out in front and one in the Texas area. They do have snack areas. If it is cold, the ice cream shop was closed, however, many people like myself tried to get in but could not. Overall, it was a good to visit place and would come here again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the Fort Worth Zoo! Once we were parked into a grassy overflow lot, we were all set for a fun day of adventure. There was great diversity of animals in the zoo, and they were delightfully active and even interactive today! They didn't have tons of anything, but had a little bit of most everything. The zoo was super family friendly with ample restrooms, water fountains, and exhibits just for kids to enjoy. Personal favorites included the goat petting area, seeing an axolotl, the various primates, and the underwater hippo, but honestly I loved it all! They even have a Komodo dragon. Food in the zoo was extremely affordable, and you are able to pack in snacks and a water bottle too. We enjoyed the lunch we ate here (chicken sandwiches and cheeseburger). There were a few sections closed for improvements at the time of our visit (Nov 2025), but most the zoo was open. The layout of the zoo being so long and stretchy was a bit interesting and unique. I could see this being a real hassle on a more crowded day with the volume of double strollers in here. Crowded or no, this zoo is definitely worth the trip! I wouldn't rate it top in the country or anything, but it exceeded my expectations and was tons of fun and very affordable as far as zoos go. read more

A family remember recommended this zoo and stated it would be better than Dallas... they was not lying and so far Forth Worth Zoo is the best Zoo I've been to in Texas so far! The place is very forest like and it's so many nooks and cranny's it feels like an adventure. The landscaping is amazing. The best way I can describe it, it's like you're actually in the habitats of the animals, just with them in enclosures. It's super fun and interactive and they have a huge variety of animals, like I was so overwhelmed in a good way. So much to see! It was so many funny moments too with the animals. This has been by far the best out of three... Parking was a breeze and we did not have to park far. You feel secluded like you are on a mini safari/ rain forest. The Elephants are a site to see! The animals overall seemed happy, as they are a lot closer and engage with you. I was surprised by the mini Aquarium. I loved how the lions den and others were clean, neat and so peaceful. Wow! What an absolutely amazing zoo! I highly recommend you check it out. We visit the zoo on a Sunday morning in the summer. We arrived to the zoo around 10:30 am and had no issues finding parking in a shaded area. The day was hot but bearable as there is plenty of shade throughout the park. The zoo itself is immaculate and well maintained. The animal enclosures are large and beautiful. Many of them have running water features. They have a wide variety of animals and even have a few babies right now. We saw a few baby gorillas they were really cute. You can bring in food and drinks which is a major plus. Just make sure they aren't in glass containers as that is prohibited. They do have multiple food and drinks options within the zoo. read more

We had a fantastic time at the Fort Worth Zoo with our family! The animals were amazing--well cared for and active--and there was so much to see and do that it kept everyone engaged. The exhibits are thoughtfully laid out, and it's easy to spend several hours exploring. The only downside was that there was quite a bit of construction happening during our visit, which limited access to a few areas. That said, it didn't take away from the overall experience. I hadn't visited this zoo in many years but I wanted to check out the new "Predators of Asia and Africa" exhibit. We easily bought our tickets online off their website, for a $1 discount per ticket ($19 per adult instead of $20). This made it very easy to show the tickets on our phone at entry, although there was not a line to buy tickets when we arrived. We visited early on a warm, sunny Saturday morning in March. It was very crowded. The most frustrating part about our trip was the traffic near the zoo, which took a long time to navigate. There were people helping to guide traffic near the zoo and in the parking lots, but it was slow going to get there. We did not pay to park, despite the website saying it would be $5 per car - I don't know why our parking was free. Once we got to the actual zoo, we really enjoyed the visit. There are QR codes around for digital maps and we did see people using laminated paper maps. Lots of people with strollers and rolling carts. They do rent strollers there (we saw some). The entire zoo was accessible for strollers/carts/wheelchairs. There are also lots of places to buy food, snacks and merchandise. We didn't eat at the zoo but we saw people eating BBQ brisket lunches. You could also pay to feed the giraffes. There was lots to see. We did not do everything. We skipped the children's area with indoor exhibits and several of the walk-through areas (reptiles, aviary) since we wanted to be outdoors. The predators exhibit definitely ended up being a favorite. I also really enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful birds of prey up close. read more

What a phenomenal Sunday visit we recently experienced at the Fort Worth Zoo. We were enjoying an unseasonably warm February day in Texas. It was forecasted to be sunny and 80 degrees. We couldn't pass up a day like that to enjoy a day at the zoo. We arrived right when the zoo open at 10:00 discovering lots and lots of other folk decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather. My wife and I loved seeing so many children and families at the entrance. It was going to be a glorious day. The Ft. Worth Zoo is considered one of the world class zoos. Each and every time we visit, it is always so clean and well kept. We're members of the zoo so we "sailed" through the entrance line. The first exhibit, right inside the gate, is the gorilla habitat. The Ft. Worth Zoo as quite a "troop" of gorillas Including Elmo the silverback and Gracie the lead female. We learned at the gorilla briefing that Elmo wasn't in charge of the troop, Gracie, the female was, very interesting. What caught our eye was Bobo, the 2 year old. We couldn't take our eyes off of him. He was constantly doing somersaults throughout the habitat. He was SO cute and everyone was enthralled. We strolled through the zoo checking out all the new exhibits until finally we were hungry. We decided to head down to the Texas Wild where the Bluebonnet Cafe was located. It had 3 choices to dine at Dickey's BBQ. Pizza Hut and Ranch Grill. That would give us plenty of choices. It was such a gorgeous day, we took our time strolling to the Texas Wild area. With the crowds at the zoo, the lines for food were a bit long but the food service personnel were doing their best to take care of customers in a very efficient manner. The line was moving along swiftly. My wife decided to order a Pizza Hut Personal Sized Supreme Pan Pizza. I decided on a Cheeseburger and onion rings from the Ranch Grill. After a short wait, we headed out to the very clean and organized dining area. The burgers come "undressed" except for lettuce and tomato. Out in the dining area is an incredible condiment bar with everything the is needed to enjoy a well-dressed burger. The burger was seasoned perfectly and served at the perfect temp. The standout of my meal were the onion rings. I don't believe they breaded them on site, but they were some of the most incredible onion rings I've every had. They were panko breaded and fried to perfection, so crisp and tender. To top off our afternoon visit we stopped at the Blue Bell cream parlor for a treat before working our way back to the entrance. It doesn't get any better than Bleu Bell. What an awesome visit we had at the Ft. Worth Zoo. If you haven't visited this jewel, don't wait go and enjoy your experience with your family. read more

We were so grateful for the shaded walkways from each exhibit! We came with mother in law and she absolutely needed the free wheelchair that is offered here. Single and double strollers also available to rent for a small fee, if you needed it all day. We didn't bring in our packed lunch but you certainly can in a small cooler bag (not an ice chest) Pretty clean zoo and we just couldn't make it to the Safari splash but it sounded like lots of happy kids in there. The Fort Worth Zoo is always a fun way to spend a few hours. They have updated several exhibits and are in the process of updating even more. As several others have mentioned, weekdays are usually the best time to avoid crowds, although our most recent visit was on a Saturday and it wasn't too bad. It seems like they have installed a few more overhangs for viewers to be in the shade and the misters were going which was awesome! You can buy your tickets online and avoid the queue at the ticket office. That will save you 15-20 minutes usually. We arrived at 945a and the doors opened at 10a and there was already quite a few people lined up and waiting for the gates to open. Most of the concession stands were open, and prices are what one expects to pay in a theme park kind of place. Bottle of water is going to set you back about $5 so plan accordingly. It's a Top 10 US Zoo so if you are looking for a fun way to spend a day just kind of strolling around and enjoying someone's company, check them out! read more

My friend from Church had been wanting to come here and so did I. Columbus Day was a holiday so, I took the day off and we headed to the Fort Worth Zoo. It was crowded seems like everyone had the same idea as us but, it went smooth. Parking was free and there were several people guiding the way and showing you exactly where to park. There a designated trail to get to the zoo too. There were no ticket lines either! Most of the animals were asleep. The Zoo is large and it's filled with lots of shade and benches along the way to rest. They have added lots of sections for young children. Don't forget to walk across the Swinging Swamp Bridge! They have a train ride for $5.00 . However, you don't get to see any animals along the way and it takes you to the front of the zoo so, you can exit. Even though it was crowded it was a great experience. I highly recommend the First Worth Zoo. Tickets are $20.00 for Adults. Seniors are $16. I believe Children under two are free. The Fort Worth Zoo is absolutely beautiful. It is large with lots of beautiful landscaping and opportunities to engage with a variety of animals. There are plenty of bathrooms (in varied levels of cleanliness) and lots of places to eat a quick meal or snack. I visited on a Sunday morning. While I had the place to myself for the first 30ish minutes, it quickly became almost unbearably packed with people. You will definitely want to arrive early. I suggest purchasing your tickets online ahead of time. The tickets are a little pricey and parking is an additional fee. While I loved engaging with the zookeepers, many of the store and restaurant staff fell flat. I can't tell you how many employees I saw standing behind the counter looking at their phones with their earbuds in. Super unprofessional! Overall, I think the zoo is a fun place to visit and you should certainly visit once. I don't think it is someplace I would go back to over and over again, though. read more

Today our kids had a planned field trip! Come to find out, there was 46 school buses! It was insane, it looked like a concert. Parents all around were livid. Our kids had to actually turn their bus around because the zoo was so packed. To allow 46 buses and then not be closed to the public is insane. When we voiced our frustrations, we were met with complete attitudes from the workers. It was honestly so stressful. And then when I went to the counter to get my money back, they tried saying I couldn't get it back because I already entered the zoo, which they told us to do. Went to the Fort Worth Zoo yesterday with family since it was such a beautiful warm day for February. First time visitor for this particular zoo. Let me just say that this zoo is huge. You definitely get your money's worth. It's also very open and very well kept. There were an array of animals from elephants, giraffes, tigers, cheetahs, to penguins and flamingos. You can even ride the train which is a great way to rest at the end of your visit as it drops you off near the front of the entrance. Zookeepers were friendly and knowledgeable, and the animals looked healthy and well kept. This is definitely a place that you easily spend a couple of hours at with friends or family. read more

Meh. I would say that the San Antonio Zoo is way better than this one. Too many construction walls, not enough to do or see. There is more entertainment for the kids than there are enclosures for new animals. We walked more steps through trees, nature, and dead space than we saw animals. You got your typical gorillas, reptiles, birds, and Savannah or African animals, however, these were all the standard zoo animals you would normally see. Nothing special about them in this zoo. San Antonio had at least ten different types of the same animal. Here it was three different black rhinos in different enclosures...? Oh and like five places for flamingos around the zoo. We wanted to take fun photo booth pictures but the people in front of us were left with the machine breaking down mid photos. One booth was out of service and the next one over broke! Parking was easy, but we recommend you arrive at opening since it got super packed by 12. Not too much pedestrian traffic inside which was nice. It was our first time here, and we were left disappointed. I wish we could have received a full refund for our experience. We got some fun photos, but again, we don't feel super satisfied. The animals we wanted to see were either not in their exhibit, with signage saying they were taken out of their enclosure, or, they were all sleeping under the shade.....at 10 AM. If you want to kill two or three hours walking around and seeing a few cool animals this is the place for you. Expect typical overpriced refreshments and food. read more

Go on a Mon. if you can. There was barely anyone at the zoo today. It felt like it was deserted! there wasn't any trouble finding a parking spot. It felt like a Ghost Town. It was only on our ride down that the driver told us the zoo gets super packed, especially on the free days on Wednesday. We went too late in the afternoon, and most if the animals were sleeping. It's better to go either early in the morning when the zoo first opens and the animals are eating breakfast, or later in the evening when they are eating dinner, There's plenty of shade at the zoo. This is one of the top rated zoos in America. For $6 you can purchase lettuce leaves to feed the giraffes. It was a highlight of our experience. Two grown adults went with us, and we saw everything in about 2 1/2 hours. read more

I'll add myself to the list of endorsees and say the Fort Worth Zoo is immaculate and highly recommended. While I generally lean Dallas in the Dallas-Fort Worth rivalry, there's no question Fort Worth wins hands down in this competition. If it's an either-or question: Fort Worth Zoo? Yes. Dallas Zoo? Pass. Now, with that, going to both and comparing them is an interesting experiment. Dallas Zoo has plenty of attributes. So it is safe to say some of Texas' deep pockets should take a look at Dallas Zoo and help it reclaim its past glory. It's nice, but needs a fresh monied infusion. Our family went to celebrate the start of summer and all our graduates. The animals were beautiful, though I can't say the same about the great things we experienced. We were met with a few disgruntled park employees. The first made a mistake, which we brought to their attention, as no concessions are cheap. Despite the person making the order admitting they ran out and scraped the bottom of the barrel to fulfill it, resulting in an incomplete and seriously lacking double scoop, we were told to "purchase another one because they were not going to remake it." Even though the entire order of ice cream, minus a few pieces of waffle cone, was presented, we were met with a cashier unwilling to make things right. I asked her to contact her manager on the phone, and she did. After the call, she came back with a small cup containing a scoop, which we appreciated, even though it was a tense exchange. Lastly, the worker who runs the starfish and horseshoe crab petting station was downright rude, argumentative, and really unhelpful when adults and kids alike asked any questions about the animals. It was truly unfortunate that they allow someone so ill-equipped to fill a role that requires, at the very least, a pleasant demeanor. This was all sent in an email to guest relations, which has neglected to respond. We wanted to bring these shortcomings to the zoo's attention, so I'm left with uploading a review for them to DO BETTER! read more

I LOVE FORT WORTH ZOO!!!!! We have a pass so we take our daughter here all the time! She loves all the animals. She loves feeding the giraffe. She loves seeing the elephant and their new habitat. Her favorite of all is the flamingo habitat in the beginning of the park though. You can get so close to them, she can stare at those flamingos for hours if we let her lol. I love how you can bring your own ice chest here. But even if you chose to eat here their food pricing are so reasonable! No overpriced food so it's a good thing!
