I had an old filling fall out of one of my molars while at work. I called for an emergency appointment, and they took me that day! I went to work today singing their praises! 10 out of 10, would HIGHLY recommend. I was a brand new patient with no dental coverage as of yet, and they spoke to me about costs before they even started working on me, making sure that whatever decision that was made was mine. They also explained their payment plans. The front desk staff, dental hygienists, and the dentist himself were all very welcoming and immediately made me feel like I was in good hands. Dr. Daniel was very informative on what had happened, what can be done, and what the next steps would be for my tooth. Dr. Mark and his staff are truly exceptional. I have been seeing Dr. Mark for some time now (had implants done with sinus lift, bridges) and I could not have better dentist. Every time Dr. Mark took time to explain the steps that we would take, took time to describe every step and showed pictures. The dental work that I had done was quite complicated, so of course I was afraid. Dr. Mark with his calm approach helped tremendously and the effects are great. Waste of time. Does not follow up with patients for their scheduled appointments on their 3rd party scheduler. Walked in for an appointment thay I made on their online appointment scheduler and they made excuses saying that it's not their fault because it's a 3rd party system. But it is their responsibility to check that and to follow up with patients and let them know that appointment is not available. Had to schedule my work meetings around appointment and manage child care around appointment that didn't happen. read more

Just have to leave another "Praise" for Forest Hills Dental! Dr. Mark has truly surpassed my expectations by being a man of integrity, skilled craftsmen/dental professional-- standing by his work. A crown that he had made for me a few years ago cracked, and so I called -- and they got me in that day. Not only that, Dr. Mark worked hard to remove the old and made me a new one right in the office. I walked out about 2 hours later with a new crown--no pain-- at no charge. I felt so grateful... brought tears to my eyes. Couldn't believe the kindness that was shown to me. I've only good things to say about Dr. Mark and his staff. They are caring, careful, professional, and responsive. Among the reasons I have been going to this practice for so many years are that Dr. Mark's first inclination is always to save the original tooth; he doesn't try to shame me into whitening or straightening my teeth, which every dentist I have seen before him has done, despite my express disinterest in either; he keeps up with the latest developments in dentistry; he takes pride in his work and is patient; and he is invested in his staff, which is reflected in how he trains and coaches them. I don't quite understand the complaints about the appointment reminders. Yes, there are multiple reminders over different mediums (phone, email and text) but isn't it helpful that you can choose your preferred means for communicating with the office? Also, I find it useful to get the reminders a few days ahead of time so that (a) I can reschedule early without incurring a charge and (b) someone else (probably with a dental emergency) can get in to see Dr. Mark a little sooner. read more

STAY AWAY They are a huge scam. I sat in the dentist chair on hold with my insurance company for 35 mins so the office manager could hear that my procedure was covered. He wanted me to shell out thousands of dollars and if the insurance company covered it he would give me a credit for future services. But I had no choice since the procedure already started and I was sitting in the chair. Finally I got my insurance on the phone and they proved they pay for the procedure. This place is a predator, money grubbing, scam and I strongly encourage anyone looking into this place to find a second opinion elsewhere. The five star reviews are obviously fake or written by friends/family of Dr. Mark. I went to this dentist years ago and have never forgotten them due to the trauma I experienced there. It's all true, the incessant calling to confirm appointments, the charging for procedures you probably don't need, the billing for hundreds of dollars that you have no choice but to pay because you are taking their word as professionals, but what I will never forget is being strapped to that chair with something in my mouth to keep it open and three guys standing over me peering into my mouth (maybe the other two guys were dental students I have no idea), being in pain and bleeding in my mouth while the suction tool was sucking a hole in my tongue. And then afterwards being slapped with a huge bill. I finally stopped going and developed a fear of dentists and didn't see another one for a long time. The procedure prices are normal and the dentist explains everything including the prices when setting up the plan of action. No hidden costs, not lying or cheating. Horrible. The receptionist was the only one that was nice. These people knew for a fact i had an limited amount of money from my insurance and proceeded to do work that would take all my money. I didn't appreciate it the way that dentist spoke to me it was uncalled for and rude. His diagnosis never matched up to the other dentist I've went to. His tone and his mannerism was unprofessional. This dentist is wonderful. I've read the other reviews and working within the health industry I know prices are never going to be as low as you would like them. Here you pay for what you get. There are cheaper dentist in Forest Hills but they are not thorough and do not give you all of the options. Every time I come here the staff treats me with respect and do a wonderful job. Like many others, I usually hate going to dentists. Dr. Friedman, however, made the whole process easy and painless. I got to see the dentist right away when I arrived and did not need to wait. Dr Friedman is very calming and funny. He makes the entire procedure enjoyable and interesting. He patiently takes the time to explain exactly why he does what he does and completes a very thorough job. No pain and clean teeth. Forest Hill's Dental prices are also very reasonable. Was reading another reviewer and it sounds so much like my own experience. They have turned into money gouging business, charging excessively for anything and for everything they possibly can. Be very careful where and what you sign and ask for printouts with your signature, and read your EOB statements from Insurance co. - you cant trust these guys. I asked for an earliest appointment and they tried to charge me $150 as emergency fee (what!!). When I was walking away, they agreed to not charge emergency. During my next visit, I learnt that they still billed as emergency and asked me to foot the bill. They will haunt you for appointment and chase you to your grave until you agree to an appointment. If you cancel your appointment, they will still make money by charging excessive cancellation fee. Stay away. read more

Went for a cleaning and xrays. As far as prices goes - this is the best in forest hills. Another office was going to charge me double what this place had charged me. I thought that the service would diminish because of the price but it did not! The front desk staff was great! My dental hygienist was phenomenal (Masiel - I think that was her name). And the dentist was also very nice and listened to me and addressed all my concerns. The only reason why I took one star off was because for about 2 minutes they left me with some lady to do my xrays and she didn't know what she was doing and was hurting my mouth. My hygienist came to save me - Thank God! Other than that my visit was perfect. No waiting with an appointment, hot coffee and cold water in cozy waiting room and tv was not blaring. These people are money grubbers plain and simple. I went there one time and they keep calling trying to get me to pay ...get this $15.62 that they say my insurance didn't cover. They extracted a tooth. They said the extraction was covered but the "exam" was not. How is that even possible? Are you telling me you can pull a tooth out but it costs extra to look at the tooth before you pull it out? Anyhow I paid them the day of my visit on my debit card $900 in ADDITION to what my insurance paid. But 3 months later they are threatening to send my case to a collection agency...for once again get this..$15.62. Stay away from these people. They worship money if you get my meaning. I was extremely impressed was this dental office in Forest Hills! The attention to patients is excellent and they really checked your teeth very deeply from X-rays to digital photos! He's a scam artist. He would have kept over $1200 of my money if I hadn't demanded it. He required payment upfront and I paid in full. He said that he would file the claims with my insurance and re-imburse any insurance payments he received. I have my own dental plan and my husband's as secondary. I got a notice from my plan that they sent him a check for over $300. After 3 weeks I called the office to find out where my money was. Marie told me the "accountant" wasn't in yet but she would get back to me after she spoke with him (What dentist has their accountant deal with reimbursement to patients???) She called me back and said they received the check but took it upon themselves to credit my account with them even though there was a zero balance. She said they weren't sure if I wanted the money now or when the second insurance payment came in. Really ? That's my money that should have been sent to me without question. When I got notice from my secondary insurance that they sent him a check for $900 I called immediately and said I would be there later that day to get my check. I was told that was impossible because the money gets wired directly into their bank account. Why? I did not owe them a dime. The check was made out to them because the office had me sign that all insurance money should go to them even though I had paid my bill in full. I eventually got my money because I hounded them. I have no doubt that if I had never demanded my money they would have kept it. Stay away!!! read more

Patients beware! Went to this dentist 5 months back since I was living in Queens at the time and was told I had nine cavities. I knew I had at least one cavity, as it was noticeable but 9? As a person who adheres to a strict diet and flosses / brushes / uses mouthwash , I was astonished to find out the news. Not to mention devastated, that I would have to shell out so much money. Recently, I went to a family dentist, who took x-rays and confirmed that I didn't have nine cavities. This man is a scam artist, who I am reporting to the BBB. Agree with the previous low score review. This place charges for things your insurance won't cover and are aggressive in having you pay them. Way over the top "reminders" ... 10 calls/text to confirm appointment and yes, god forbid you are late or cancel,.. Hefty fee. The dentist assistant is great, she is thorough, but you feel like a cash cattle after leaving the office. Double copy and membership fees and "oh, insurance doesn't cover antibiotics, that'll be $$$". Ridiculous. Sept 6 2014, I received a call from an unknown number, when I answered they told ME to hold on!!!??... Was put in hold for a minute until they came back on and identified themselves to hound me for appointment. I canceled and told them to lose my number. Found a nearby office that offers FREE whitening with a cleaning... FREE. When asked if they would match they said no and offered me a zoom for discounted price of $499 or to do Surgical "caps" for thousands of which again, the insurance won't cover most. I was trying to make an appointment as a new patient, in pain with a tooth. His assistant squeezed me in a 20 minutes window and called my insurance, Aetna. She got back to me saying that my benefits are OK but the insurance is not paying for my consultation; she asked $135.00 for that 20 minutes to just look at what needs to be done. I was shocked and very upset. I never heard such a think!. Over the years I so other dentists, in Manhattan and Queens, but I was NEVER asked by any of them to pay for the first visit (evaluation). I called the insurance myself and they explained that the plan doesn't cover "consultation", covers only "exam"-but this is what I wanted! When I explained the situation to the insurance company they said that in my case the dentist should have done an exam, but his assistant wanted to put consultation, to get the cash from me. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! Are they having any morals? I am in pain and I just wanted examination and treatment, but I couldn't get because of their gridlines! read more

They treat you like a cash cow. The dental assistants are SO nice, but as soon as the doctor walks in he makes it seem like you're seconds from losing all your teeth. Every time he would offer services that I did not need that of course were not covered by my insurance. Braces, but first have to get all my wisdom teeth removed, deep cleanings, more frequent visits. He told me I had to get a deep cleaning, but had to do it in 2 separate visits because it would be too painful to get done at once (not true!), which of course meant i had to pay for 2 separate visits and cleanings. During my first cleaning the woman working on my teeth literally said the deep cleaning was not necessary. Right after that I canceled my next deep cleaning and never went back. I found a new dentist who was so confused as to why I ever got a deep cleaning and that my teeth are in great shape. RIDICULOUS! This whole time I thought I had awful teeth only to find out they were just scamming me. read more

This has to be the worst dentist office I have ever experienced and not because of the dentists but because of the staff and how it is being operated. About 2 months ago I had an appointment for a general check up. I was running a few minutes late to my appointment and unable to call them since I was underground in the subway. As soon as I had service my phone was bombarded with messages from the staff stating that I was 15 minutes late (which I was not it was 10:13am when I received the message) and that I would now have to pay $150.00 for not canceling or rescheduling the appointment. First of all I find this amount of money to be ridiculous for anyone to have to pay for a cancellation fee. When I'm pretty sure not even a general consultation cost that. Second I did not cancel the appointment, I was running late something that can happen to anyone. When I was able to talk to one of the staff to inform him that I was on my way he proceeded to lecture me about the fact that I was running late and again threatened to charge me that ridiculous amount. So naturally after feeling attacked by this employee I responded back by telling him that, that was a ridiculous charge and that I was on my way but that I would never go back to that dentist office. His response was that I could not go anymore because I was not welcomed and that I would still have to pay their ridiculous fee. To top it off when I called the office to speak to the manager it turns out that the same asshole that I spoke to earlier is also the office manager. My point is these people are money grubbers they are not part of the Queens County Dental Society or BBB so they do whatever they want. This is an uncomfortable situation but I like to look at the positive side to everything, therefore I will take it as a learning experience. Next time I will do my research on the practice I chose to give my money to. I hope that this is helpful to others so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else by these people. read more
