Beware of this slick dental practice, which is more interested in racking up big bills with high pressure, but is loath to return money for work not completed. Yes, their office is gorgeous and straight out of Architectural Digest, and the staff is fawning, like overly needy friends (the word "Stepford" comes to mind) -- until the deal is closed. I went to Center for Smiles when my previous dentist, Dr. Kuncio, sold her practice to him. He turned out to be the opposite of Dr. Kuncio, who was honest and straightforward, and very mindful of what her patients could afford. To my knowledge, none of her staff who went to work at Center for Smiles is still employed there. Indeed, there seemed to be a high turnover of staff at Center for Smiles in the 15 months I was a patient there. Some highlights: 1. Vidya Sartorious, the office manager, collected $6,000 from Care Credit on my behalf when only $1,100 worth of work had been done. 2. Failed to file for preauthorization with my denta; insurance, as promised, so my claim was denied. 3. Vidya Sartorious (at the behest of Dr. Rallis) tried to rush me into completing this work, and pushed up demands for MORE money, directly contradicting Dr. Rallis' prior verbal agreements with me. 3. Dr. Rallis did not listen to my concerns, and failed to reconsider his treatment plan for a $23K bridge, even after I repeatedly expressed doubt because of underlying infections and pain in the affected teeth. ("We can take care of that infection afterwards, with an apicoectomy." But first we will put a $23K 10-tooth bridge on top? Umm,no.) 4. After I appealed to Care Credit, Dr. Rallis claimed to have done an additional $1645 worth of work, which, if true, was done without my knowledge, permission, or consent. I expressly withdrew my consent that very day, before this work was done, until my insurance preauthorization was worked out. I did not and would not have given permission for this work. I only agreed to a temporary bridge. 5. Did not file with my insurance company for this additional work, either, although it would have been denied for failure to get a preauthorization, the issue I confronted them with that very day. 6. Has yet to send me a copy of my x-rays after several months, and refused delivery of my second, certified mail request. This is just the tip of the iceberg of this very unfortunate experience, with further legal action pending. read more

My experience was the same as those who felt this practice's main aim was to take as much money as they could. My son who had no dental insurance needed root canal. He went to Dr. Ralis because his previous dentist retired and sold her practice to Dr. Ralis. His charge was $800 more than my dentist whom my son ultimately used. After Dr. Ralis assessed him for the root canal he suggested that even though my son was having no problems, that he have his wisdom teeth pulled and then Dr. Ralis would adjust his bite. When my son asked my dentist about this, he said that yes his bite was a little off but there was no negative impact and no reason to do the work if he wasn't having any issues. I can only imagine what Dr. Ralis would have charged. As another reviewer said , they are overly fawning. They try to act as if they are your best friends not your dentist. They also convinced me to buy an electric tooth brush from them for $150 that i could have gotten online for $110. Very sorry I was pressured and taken in my them for that but very happy they didn't do my son's root canal. My advice is to go elsewhere. I see Dr Michael Feldstein in Flushing. I have never seen a practice MORE MONEY HUNGRY than this one! Vidya Sartorious, in charge of billing, had told me my insurance covers everything I would pay for the day of my visit and I ended up paying over $300 out of my pocket. I then called after I was only reimbursed for $75 by insurance. She said she never said that I would be entirely reimbursed and then hung up the phone on me. I asked for a cleaning, she then charged me for x-rays, a comprehensive oral exam, and a cleaning. She made it very clear several times that I would not have to pay a penny out of pocket, and that my insurance covers everything. She just wants your money. This practice does not care about the patient at all. She also tried to get me to have a jaw exam, which costs $500 which I didn't find out until after I was in the dentist's chair, about to begin. Do not waste your time here! Save your money and go to a better practice that is friendlier and will not lie to their patients. I am the type of person whom never goes anywhere without checking reviews, so when I needed a new family dentist that's exactly what I did, I went on Google and searched Top rated dentist around me, The center for smiles came top one rated at 5 stars based on a 122 reviews, I made my fist call and from the moment Vidia picked up the phone I understood why they where highly rated. First of they picked up the phone at the few rings, a very nice lady picked up and answered each and everyone of my questions, when I told her I needed to call back she then suggested I asked for her personally since she already had asked me all the question she needed and was familiarized with my case, I called a few hours later and she answered the Phone with "good afternoon Mrs. Ramirez how are you " and kept on the case without me having to repeat anything at all... A few days after they called me because I had given some mistaken information about my insurance and she had already handle it with a few calls to the insurance company (something I would've found out at the moment of my appointment at any other place) they mailed me the forms I needed to do since we where new patients in order to have the information when we went and our wait didn't have to be long. The day of the appointment we actually where there almost an hour late, guess what we still did not have to wait over 20 minutes, it's like they have a meeting with every staff member, because every time anyone new came out that door would say hello Mrs. And mr Ramirez how are you, thank you for joining the family, like if they already knew us. The first one called in was my husband and a few minutes later I see this nice young lady come out with a treasure trunk with toys in it to start interacting with my 3 kids before taking them in, my 2yo baby got a little cranky because he is a little sick and the iPad he was watching lost wifi, she got him calm quickly with a new toy and gave me the password for the wifi, she then took my daughter in, and when I go in a few minutes later she is in a patient chair laying down with a warm blanket a stress ball just to relax a toy and finding the Disney Chanel on a TV she had in front of her, my son wich BTW is autistic was in another room with an amazing staff member being taken of for x-rays, she made up this little story about how it was going to be like a rocket ship and how he was going to get a awesome reward if he didn't move, was very patient with him and made him feel very comfortable before working on him, when it was my time this is all I'm going to say, I barely see a dentist ever unless I have such a pain and most of the time my tooth has no fixing, today I had a great experience and for the first time in my 33 years of life I can say I didn't feel anxiety or like crying at the end of my visit. They gave us goodie bags with a mug with snacks in it and the kids toothbrushes and toothpaste. 1-The place is beautiful 2-The staff is amazing 3-You are seen at your appointment time and are out rushed throught it. 4-State of the art updated equipment. 5-Take most insurance. 6-Best costumer service I've experienced. 7-A few more ppl took excellent care of us just suck at names, I'll make sure to write down their names next time we visit , they are worth the recognition! 8-Dr. Nicholas is awesome and great with kids as well. read more

Dr Rallis, Dr Chris, and Vidia have been heaven sent literally. I came to this office feeling defeated after visiting several dental offices who "specialized" in difficult cases, only to have them collect thier fee and refer me to another office. Determined yet expecting the worst I went to Center for smiles. My first point of contact was Vidia who assured me "We got you" meaning, I would be taken care of there and I am here to tell you she meant it. The experience I received from these doctors are comparable to none Dr Chris and Dr Rallis have a let's go attitude which I am all for. let me be clear it's not a rushed job where you feel pressured, it's a let's get it done attitude. And let me be brutally honest he couldn't finish the sentence before I was in the chair because I needed a dentist who was confident, experienced and motivated to match my energy. So I want to say thank you Dr Chris for rolling your sleeves up and taking that first step and assuming the responsibility of taking on someone elses failed work. Per my father Charles: My retiring Denist, Zenovia Kuncio recommended that for dental care, I use the local dentist, Dr. Nicholas Rallis. At first, I checked out a dental group out on LI, and was quoted very high (expensive!) for a procedure that would have been time consuming (over the course of several weeks). I was hesitant to move forward, and wanted a second opinion. I remembered that my old dentist recommended Dr. Rallis, so I went for a second opinion. I am glad I did! I realized that my retiring dentist recommendation had a lot of merit. Dr. Rallis is a valued professional, thorough, caring, and his staff is very comforting and put me at ease. He and his team reviewed the procedure, explained to me everything, and I was quoted significantly less, and the time frame was much shorter to get it done. With this coronavirus chaos it was very difficult to find a dentist willing to see me. I had severe tooth pain and could barely function. They saw me within a day and Dr. Rallis was able to determine that my tooth cracked in half from grinding in my sleep and had to be extracted. As you can imagine a tooth extraction is not pleasant but the Dr did his best to make it bearable and quick. I am out of pain and for that I'm totally grateful. read more

I was referred to this dentist after previously going to Dr. Kuncio in Bayside, NY. The staff is always so friendly and professional, especially Carmela and Diana. I almost never have to wait, and i am in and out to get on with my day! Scheduling is easy and they also are flexible with the way i need to submit dental expenses for work. Center For Smiles is a state of art dentistry offering premiere services that make all of their patients feel like VIPs. I discovered Center for Smiles when my mother needed to have emergency oral surgery. Dr. Rallis and the magnificent team at Center for Smiles saved the day. Subsequently, my sister and I became patients. Full disclosure: our collective oral hygiene is far from perfect (gross) but I can say that Dr. Rallis and his team are truly gifted. Personally, he has fixed my overbite and a host of other things from cavities to crowns. Most recently, I had an issue with a crown during the COVID19 crisis of all times! I called Center for Smiles and I was able to schedule an appointment. I am constantly impressed with how sleek and state of the art the facility is. In my opinion Dr Rallis and his staff are as about as professional as anyone can get in the entire state of New York. He takes pride in his patient care, expects nothing but the best from his personal staff that great you as you enter the door and escort you to the chair. Moreover, the office itself is hygenically, aesthetically and professionally clean. Meticulously adorned all the way down to the fresh flowers he personally orders for his office waiting area . There you can also find a keurig ready to brew your daily cup of Joe or a tea selection to relax you before treatment. The equipment is all state of the art, no expense spared to ensure top notch patient care. Dr. Rallis takes the time to explain the plan of care, future things to watch out for if your not ready to treat that issue right them and will explain how to maintain a healthy mouth and a great smile. I stumbled upon his office Googling a periodontist for my mom he not only saved her gums from periodontal disease but he created a masterpiece inside her mouth that she is forever grateful for. Her pain is gone and she can wear dentures that don't hurt!!! His administrative billing staff can work you in the schedule for routine and emergency visits and the office is open from 8 a.m. in the morning. I am so glad that I found the center for smiles and Dr. Rallis. The drive coming from Brooklyn to Bayside Queens is only 30 minutes and worth the time and energy of dealing with am and early afternoon traffic which isn't too bad between 8am -1pm. I decided to visit center for smiles after I saw all the wonderful reviews and because a friend of mine recommended it as she had a really good job done on her teeth and honestly it was the best thing I've ever done for myself! I had really bad teeth and every other dentist that I visited advised me to do veneers which is extremely expensive! After my consultation with Dr. Rallis he advised me to do Invisalign which is like wearing braces but invisible! They are clear cases that you change every two weeks and they straighten your teeth without anybody knowing! I had to wear mine for almost two years but that depends on each patient.
