I went to Dr Hwang a few years ago. Yesterday, I went to him for an emergency. The staff is always nice and caring. I had a broken crown over an implant. It was giving me an ulcer on my tongue. I went to a previous dentist and would not shave it down. Dr Hwang took care of it right away. Took the time to explain and fixed it for me. I visited Hwang Dental after my dentist of 20 years retired and recommended them. I am so happy he did since this is the most thorough exam and cleaning I have ever received. Dr. Hwang went over my mouth tooth by tooth, took pictures, did measurements, took notes and then he actually spoke to me about my teeth and oral health. Go figure? My cleaning was nothing short of delightful if you can believe that. I felt that my teeth had not been that clean and attended to in years. Hwang Dental was recommended to me by my friend and neighbor when I was looking for a new dentist. Honestly, I have no complaints and nothing but praise for Dr. Hwang and his staff. I have been with Hwang Dental for... I think two years now. The location is convenient to me, as I can just take the Q44 down Main st. and it stops right in front of the stop. Parking isn't difficult either as the area is mostly residential. The office itself is clean and equipped with modern equipment (even have TVs mounted on the ceilings so you're not bored waiting while you're staring up). The waiting room also has refreshments like bottled water/juice/tea/coffee available, which I think is convenient and mindful of patients, especially in this hot weather. Checkups and cleanings are painless and efficiently performed. I also did something similar to Invisalign (think it's called ClearCorrect?) with Dr. Hwang and I'm happy with my straight teeth. Dr. Hwang personally gave me a follow-up call after I had the first set of retainers fit in, and I heard similar experiences with my friend who went through some oral surgery with him. He tries to make himself available as much as possible to his patients, and it's a touch of hospitality that unfortunately, is lacking in today's healthcare services. I've always hated going to the dentist, but this was surprisingly an incredibly smooth and pain-free dental visit. My teeth feel soooo clean. I'm actually looking forward to my next visit. Here is a detailed review: Even though it's in the basement of a building, the office itself is pretty clean and new-ish. They have a beverage nook with coffee, water bottles, and juice, which is a nice touch. The receptionist is very pleasant, and it was fairly smooth to schedule an appointment. They were able to squeeze me in the very next day. When I arrived, I hardly had to wait at all to be seen (a medical office in Flushing that actually respects the appointment time? I found a gem, guys!). That said, it was a Friday afternoon so it was pretty empty. I found Dr Hwang to be really knowledgeable and helpful, and was patient when I asked endless questions. He gave me a detailed explanation about the health of my teeth without trying to scare me or be judgemental. He told me the facts and his suggestions in a very professional but friendly manner. Also, he didn't try to push me to get any procedures or treatments done. The cleaning itself was pretty quick (20minutes) while still being very thorough and the best part - completely pain free. I have sensitive teeth so I always hate getting cleanings but this lady did an amazing job. Overall, I had a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend this place for dental exams and cleanings. Came here for a regular dental exam and cleaning and I had such a pleasant experience. The front desk staff are very kind and prompt and Dr. Hwang himself is very thorough as well. Inquired about teeth whitening and instead of most other places that would push to get you to purchase these $500 treatments, Dr. Hwang gave me alternatives and actually told me to save my money! Dr. Hwang is awesome! My brother-in-law always raved about his dentist, but because I live in NJ I never felt the need to go all the way to Flushing for my dental care. However, at the end of last year my NJ dentist told me I probably needed a root canal and due to my insurance coverage, I rushed to find someone who could take me by year end. Enter Dr. Hwang. From the beginning my experience was wonderful, with polite and helpful staff greeting me. Dr. Hwang himself was very patient and took the time to answer all my questions (which I had a lot of!). Furthermore, instead of pushing me to get a root canal, he recommended that I wait a month to see if it was really necessary. Thank goodness for him, otherwise I would've had an unnecessary root canal done! I went back for a 1 month follow-up and all was good. No root canal needed. Both visits he was extremely personable, calling me the day after to make sure I was doing okay (I was unable to pick up both times and he left me voicemails following up and giving me a number to call in case I had any questions/concerns). What doctor in this day and age does that anymore?! Everyone knows that it is almost close to impossible to find good health professionals these days. Well I can whole heartedly recommend Dr. Hwang for all your dental needs as he is someone who will truly care about you. I went here for the first time for a routine check-up. After getting an X-ray, Mr.Hwang came in the room in a critical manner and told me I would need a tooth extraction, implant, wisdom tooth extraction, and CT scan. I don't have dental insurance and he said I would have to pay out of pocket. I had a tooth infection and asked for antibiotics but, Mr.Hwang said to come in the same day to extract the tooth, saying the antibiotics wouldn't help. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and was informed these procedures weren't necessary and that I should've been given antibiotics because I had an infection. The second dentist also was able to see the problem with my teeth with an x-ray, but Mr. Hwang insisted I needed to get a CT in order to see what was wrong. The CT had to be paid out of pocket and was not cheap. I felt taken advantage of to have unnecessary procedures done and be told to extract my tooth without good reason and the cost of all of these procedures without insurance. read more

Dr. Hwang personally called me to talk about my sister's dental problem for over 22 minutes. My sister and I have been visiting Hwang Dental for the past months ever since then and have decided to continue going there despite the fact that it no longer accepts our Medicaid. Dr. Hwang offers a reasonable market price for cleaning and checking and has a great team, especially the dental hygienist SooYoung and the front desk manager. I WISH I KNEW HOW LACK OF MORAL AND INCOMPETENT THIS DR HWANG PHILP IS, WHERE THE FUCK ARE OTHER GOOD REVIEWS COME FROM? but he's so fking polite and nice, On dec 2018, He wrongfully extracted my tooth, here is what happened, the tooth was decayed but not that much, i felt pain, since it was the most inner tooth, i thought it was a wisdom tooth, some people would extract their wisdom teeth for no reason, since it's decayed then why not, so i contacted this place to have my "decayed wisdom tooth" removed, after taking the x ray, i was informed it was not a wisdom tooth, it's the 2nd molar, my wisdom teeth are still in the gum, but he still advised me to pull it, since i was already there, so i did it, i was told it's all done, all good, at the moment, i thanked him for his service, just recently, i learned that if you have your teeth removed, u might need a dental implant to prevent bone loss and other side effects, BUT HE NEVER EVER MENTIONED ANY OF THIS BEFORE THE EXTRACTION, My aunt friend is also a Dentist in Flushing, we showed them my X ray and my removed tooth, they all told me it was outrageous to remove it, THE TOOTH SHOULD NEVER BEEN REMOVED IN THE FIRST PLACE, first of all, my tooth was not that decayed, the tooth was savable, I DID NOT EVEN NEED A ROOT CANEL LET ALONE EXTRACTING IT, i learned that if i just leave it there, take few vitamins, it will all heal by itself, TOOTH DECAY DOES HEAL BY ITSELF and ethical dentists do tell you that, MY EXTRACTED TOOTH WAS NOT EVEN THAT MUCH DECAYED AND THE REST OF MY TEETH ARE PERFECT, IT SHOULD NEVER BEEN EXTRACTED, THIS HAS ENRAGED ME SO MUCH, this so called dentist is willing to remove a good tooth for 400bucks profit, as of now i would pay double to have it back, THIS GUY DID NOT SPENT 8 YEARS IN COLLEGE LEARN HOW TO BE A DOCTOR AND HELP OTHER PEOPLE, HE SPENT 8YEARS IN COLELGE LEARNED HOW TO MAKE MONEY AND EARNED A LICENSE, i'm sure there are more incompetent and doctor-looking SCUMS like him, he is also not a big fan in stem cells, he's not at all interested in real science, people like him are money-makers, not scientists, they don't solve problems, they create problems, what a disgrace to humanity. read more
