1000/10 would recommend this place. Nothing short of a miracle that I found this place. Pulled up to this place 2 minutes after closing and it was raining. Todd was closing up and about to leave but was soooo kind and helped me out. !BEWARE! - They have No Integrity Don't usually make reviews but I hope this post saves someone. Took my car in for a coolant leak and so far it seems they repaired the leak! However, as soon as I paid and went to get in my car I immediately noticed a very large scratch to my rim and discoloration to the tire. Which is only on the tire after someone recently rubs a curb and scratches their rim/tire. You can see it in the picture. None of my rims have scratches and didn't before I took it in. I immediately brought this to the owners attention and he and his tech denied all responsibility and told me that I would have to pay to get it fixed. Technician even had the audacity to blame my wife and ask, "Does your wife ever drive the car?" Very disappointing, especially since I have no other scratches on my other 3 rims. Won't be back and will not recommend to anyone else after this experience. read more

During a recent desert/mountain road trip thru Nevada, Idaho and Utah from Southern California (Santa Monica) in my 1979 VW Camper Bus, I began to experience a gut-wrenching, sporadic hesitation problem at higher speeds. Why God is this happening to me? Oh, and great, I'm also in the middle of no where. Making my way out of southern Idaho, it got worst near the Bonneville Salt Flats. Will the vultures find my sun-bleached bones near the salt flats? Based on some frantic research, I located a respected shop "Vintage German" in Orem Utah. But after a call to them, they indicated they could not take me, having too much work. Really great. Instead, they recommended I call "Foreign Aid," also in Orem. And I'm glad I did. The head guy, Todd, took a quick interest in my plight - and immediately got under the Bus after barely arriving. He diagnosed the likely problem as a failing fuel pump, a potential clogged filter and perhaps a small electrical problem. Some parts took a day - the next morning, after a local hotel stay, the Bus was back in business. Todd also did a few other "let me improve upon this" fixes of things he saw that did not require his attention, but "bothered him" no matter. By that morning I was back on the road, with the Bus feeling at its very best. Todd is a classic Volkswagen guy, is extraordinarily knowledgeable, explained everything and charged a very fair price. He and his colleague Jim took personal interest in the vehicle. I could not have asked for more. His shop is now on my "go to first" list whenever I'm in the Salt Lake area again. Thanks Todd - your attention to detail got me home in fine shape and with no further "drama." Your time and attention are very much appreciated. read more

I've taken my different cars to them over the years. I live about 35 minutes away but I've only went to another shop because my car couldn't drive that far because of the problem or it was a very small repair. Foreign Aid is the ONLY shop I truly trust. I know a fair amount about BMW's as I've driven one most of my life. When I take my car there they only fix what I ask for, sometimes they find something wrong somewhere else but they don't try to upsell things that aren't urgent but suggest maybe fixing it later. There are three reasons I love these guys. 1. They are HONEST, nearly impossible to find these days. 2. They're excellent at what they do, great mechanics that know what they're doing. 3. Prices are very fair, I've been quoted over twice the price for the same repair by other shops, not the BMW dealer, just other shops. I hope they don't start charging more because of too many excellent reviews, I probably shouldn't be so honest, lol. Our whole family love these guys! We trust them with all of our cars. They are HONEST and capable mechanics. Quite literally, they cost about 1/3 of a dealership, and usually about 25-50 less than any other mechanic in town. They have always had the work done on time. I have never had to have something they have worked on fixed again. They are very upfront about what will be involved, and will COMMUNICATE with you if there is any type of surprise. I've been a customer since 1999, and unconditionally recommend them for any type of vehicle. I would also strongly suggest talking to them for a few minutes before buying a car (new or used) to get some insight into what to expect in terms of maintenance costs. If you are buying a used car, take it to them and let them give a quick look-see to find out what you are getting into. They be very straight up with you about it. read more

In May of 2013 I took my 1963 VW Beetle in for minor repairs. When I picked it up there was a dent on the fender which Todd and (Mike?) claimed to know nothing. Having just washed and polished the car the day before I knew the didn't have a dent when it was taken to the shop. The guys from Foreign Aid had a surprisingly well rehearsed story about how the dent was on the car when they accepted it. Interestingly, the story was offered in full at the first mention of the dent. This was a lie! Based on the odd location of the dent I have a very strong suspicion they either pushed the car into something in the shop or pushed an object into the car. Rather than taking responsibility for their mistake they chose to lie. Maybe they have problems with their insurance coverage? It makes me wonder. I'd used Foreign Aid for a couple of years based on recommendations from members the Utah County VW Club. Until the time of this incident, I was generally satisfied with the service but must admit they were sometimes condescending and didn't like explaining what they were doing. They also failed to confirm repairs prior to completing the work-as I'd repeatedly asked them to. I would NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! They cannot be trusted! read more

2004 BMW 330xi - engine noise. Price was a lot less than the dealer and I was provided with options for repair, the pros and cons of each as well as a price breakdown on parts and labor. When I picked up my car I was shown the worn parts and was provided more detailed explanation of the repair. I hope I do not have any further issues with my car but if I do I will take it back there for sure. read more

I took my 1999 Mercedes Benz E320 for a transmission service. An hour later after I picked up my car, the entire transmission oil pours out because the technician did not put the pan gasket correctly, and he knew it, letting me still take the car. They picked it up and took it back to the shop, next day I was told it was fixed. There has been a persistent leakage of the oil and as I went today, they refused to repair it and threatened me not leave the car there or it would be impounded. I will never go back to Foreign Aid in Orem because they are very dishonest and they misinform people about their knowledge of foreign cars. The owner, Todd, has no integrity whatsoever! read more

Foreign Aid aka Parts for Imports was excellent. I called to get some quotes prior to heading to the business. The first time I called, I did wait about 12 minutes before I got the quotes, but in the end I'm glad I waited. One of the parts I got quoted on was about $300-$400 more everywhere else. I talked to Todd both times and he was so helpful. When I went in per his recommendation he took a minute, came out, looked at my car. From the looks of it he felt it was best for me to make an appointment for his guys to do a diagnostic. I brought it back a few days later and after the diagnostic 2 of the most expensive things that needed to be fixed per the dealership, didn't even need to be fixed. He said he was also able to fix it in one day! (All other places said about 2 days) He told me what needed to be done, and what could wait. I felt he was personal in letting me know with one of the things if it were his wife's car he wouldn't let her drive long distances without getting it fixed first. Which I appreciated. He also gave me a quote then of what would need to be done. By the end of the day he called to let me know it was finished and the price was a little lower than the quote before they started doing the work. When picking it up he showed me the parts that were fixed which I felt was very helpful to see. I will 100% be going back in the future. Todd and his guys were awesome. read more
