Giving them 2 stars because I enjoy their coffee, but don't appreciate them not addressing a question I asked on a photo on Instagram regarding one of their staff members serving coffee to patrons with his COVID-19 mask pulled down and handing the coffee off, touching his gloved fingers with a patrons un-gloved fingers. Instead they felt the need to delete the question...twice. It's bad customer service and shady, and that's how people get sick. Update: Rather than address the issue, I was blocked from their account. Horrible customer service. read more

Located on a main street in Arlington is this cute cafe that roasts their own coffee. Originally from NYC, for five has opened a handful of locations all over! They are also known for their cookies (but i don't think they are any vegan/dairy free/gluten free options). Anyway, good coffee! read more

I might (and that is definitely a might) choose this over Starbucks. The good: They have cookies that are pretty tasty. Not sure how expensive, since I got one for free on my first visit. Based on the rest of the menu, they are probably not cheap, though. The caveat: They just opened, so maybe some of this other stuff will get fixed. Everything else: The cappuccino was literally one of the worst I've ever had. It was both over-extracted and watery and the milk was not steamed correctly. It was closer to a latte than a cappuccino, which is probably good because the extra milk, even though it wasn't steamed well, covered up for the truly forgettable coffee. Actually, it is a little hard to forget about the coffee since there were copious grounds in the cup at the end as well. My buddy got a cold brew and his take was that it was probably brewed from beans that came from Australia... during the forest fire. Why, you ask? Because the main takeaway was that the coffee tasted like smoke. The food is very expensive, at least relative to what I want to spend for lunch. A great sandwich place down the street (Earl's) sells nothing over $11. Almost everything here was in the $13-$15 range for lunch. I haven't tried anything yet, so maybe it is worth that, but those prices are a bit off-putting to me. Even the wine bar right across the street is cheaper. Plus they have wine. A coworker ate here yesterday and there was a snafu during prep, so he ended up waiting 30 minutes for lunch. Again, the place is brand new, so maybe as the kinks get worked out that will improve. Still, I'd say avoid lunch until they've been open awhile or until you have some time to kill. I'll likely give them another try because they are very convenient and you have to expect hiccups from a brand new place. However, I can't imagine them ever serving a better cup of coffee than 'This is Fine Coffee' down the street. And, I'd rather give most of my business to a local company anyway. read more

I don't know who these people think they are but this place (and its offshoots) are way overpriced. If you want to be ripped off this is the place to go. It is a fine location but nothing on the menu is worth its cost. For comparison you can go to Georgetown and get lunch sandwiches at Green Almond Pantry and La Bonne vache for cheaper. They are obviously taking advantage of their proximity to some office buildings. Dont go here unless you have an expense account. I won't be going ever again unless they reduce prices. read more

First I must say the customer service was amazing! And they have a really good desert and sweets collection. I ordered the Bibimbap and it tasted good! I will say the soy sauce (not sure what the actual name is) was a little overpowering so I had to scoop some of it to the side. Besides that, it tasted really good. read more

Overrated... ordered the koulouri and poached eggs (for $19) and the bread tasted stale and the egg yolks were overcooked.. might as well have been a boiled egg. Would not recommend. The coffee was good, but also the most expensive latte I've ever paid for. I can get good lattes in plenty of other places read more

I love the atmosphere here. Inside is very cute, cute little cafe where you can bring your laptop here and do some work. They offer coffee and food which means you can stay there forever.. ha - jk! The coffee tasted really good and strong. The food is a little bit on the pricey side of things, about 11+ .. my favorite was the trout toast. Their cookies are bomb - strawberry cream is my favorite so far. This place is also clean .. I wish I had this coffee shop near me! I'd definitely be coming back. read more

Stopped here for coffee, stayed for lunch. Nice ambiance and coffee is great. Creative options for lunch. Only surprise was paying NYC prices in northern Virginia. read more

Way overpriced...$6.25 for a small cappacino (and they charged an extra $1 for decaf). There are better options nearby.

Ordered a small soy mocha with a chocolate scone and paid $16. Their breakfast menu ranges from $16-$22 per entree. It just seems very overpriced. Definitely not a place to visit every day, unless you got it like that ;) read more

I've been coming to For Five for the past few months. I'm a big fan of espresso drinks and they are *outstanding* here. What is particularly great is the baristas' skill at the foaming. They are all good at it, but Sean is exceptional. He manages to create microfoam on cappunicos/lattes that is perfect. The baristas are what differentiate For Five and it's why I walk past other coffee shops to come here. read more

Came here and ordered a flat white, which tasted as expected! The interior is pretty cute and very calm/tranquil perfect for working or studying. They also have a cute little outdoor seating space if that is covered, if you want to sit outside. read more

I've been coming here for my morning coffee 2-3/wk at a minimum for the past year. I love their coffee, it's smooth and bold and I've enjoyed each of the food items I've tried. Their morning crew recently changed though and I'm really disappointed. When I'm I paying $8 (including tip) for a small cup of coffee, I'm expecting to not be met with a poor attitude and an eye roll. There's inconsistency in the way drinks are made and I find it's no longer worth the money. read more

The staff who made my coffee today was cleaning the floor before she ordered for me. She didn't wash her hands or remove her black gloves before making my coffee. It felt terrible to watch those black gloves touching my cup. Besides, I only came to realize that I forgot to ask her to punch on my reward card when I ordered, so, before I left, I asked her if she could punch for me. She stared at me for a few seconds and said " I think I already did that for you. " I was so confused why would she think that I would lie to her just for that 1/8 cup of coffee ???? She pretended that she couldn't remember therefore she needed to ask me to make sure. However, she could have asked " Have I punched for you already " but she didn't. She did apologize in the end. It's a shame because I loved for five and enjoyed spending my afternoon there. But she ruined my experience from the beginning to the end. read more

Holy cow. I ordered from them because I knew they opened amidst this covid craziness. But unexpectedly got an amazingly delicious cookie. Seriously, the cookies are pricier than you expect a single cookie to be, but irs because they are much bigger than a regular cookie, are warm, and delicious. Thank you for bringing these into my life! read more

Sunday afternoon, stopped by for a cortado. Plenty of seating areas even with social distancing, and clean atmosphere. Service is friendly and set me up with a loyalty card before I could even ask. Delicious Cortado seals the deal! read more

It's fine, the food is very good but. It's expensive and it's made to order all fresh and it takes a long time. Order a head. The bathroom was very clean. The coffee is good but not great. read more

We stopped in for coffee and cookies on a Saturday afternoon. The American cookie was AMAZING. Sweet, crunchy sugar cookie on the outside and warm, melty, chocolate chip cookie on the inside. YUM! We also tried a caramel apple cookie, which was great as well. I loved the delicious drip coffee, too. Thanks, For Five Coffee! We'll be back! read more

I've been here a few times and this place is way underrated. The food is as good as It sounds. It can take a while to make but it was well worth it. The cookies are amazing too. Patiently waiting for places to open back up so I can come back more regularly. read more

$65 for terrible breakfast for 2! Tasteless omelet- lots of bread no taste of ham and eggs Benedict that had one slice of bacon hidden under 2 lbs of arugula one egg overcooked one undercooked and both meals served cold! Way overpriced and found plastic in my salad. I ordered one of the cheapest breakfast items on the menu, which, with coffee and tip, came to $27. For that amount, I at least expected the food to be good. It was not. I also found plastic wrapping in my salad. Extremely disappointing, will definitely never be going back. read more

Pleasant for sure, but a tad expensive. Digital nomads are always on the look out for a new a perch. Every item on the menu is 14.95-19.95. We are not talking fine dining, either, though the portions are indeed large. The only exception is the soup and the breakfast sandwich, which are tasty. I wish they had better pastries. The ambience is calm except that the people in charge sometimes blare music. The staff is terrific, though! Mongolian, Russian and Latino mix. A real international feel to the place. read more

Three stars because their coffee and pastries variety is really great, better than a regular/chain coffee shops. However, it's a very expensive coffee shop, I can't afford to go there regularly. A croissant and a coffee can be over $13 and If you add a muffin it goes over $20 in a heartbeat. Prices can be better. read more

One of my favorite places to go. Good coffee, nice stuff, and super clean. However, I've recently noticed ONE major problem of this place. It was a busy Sunday morning, crowded as usual. BUT there was only one barista/cashier. She was overwhelmed and tired. Of course, she is! One person doing multiple things at the same time! Running back and forth, taking orders, making them and also packing take out! Bad management! She def needs someone to help her bc it's getting busier. I'm a regular here and everytime I come, she works all by herself and whole place looks unmanageable by only ONE person! read more

6.75 for a latte - this place is nothing short of a rip-off. If you're looking for Instagram coffee at average quality, this is the spot.

The cookie I tried was quite good -- buttery and clearly homemade. The pastry and food options had a "previously frozen" flavor that was not commensurate with the price tag. The coffee was decent. read more

Went to explore my lovely new neighborhood and came across this coffee shop. Planned coffee but went with the chai! So very tasty ! And they have so many alternative milk options. And I can't say enough about the pastry. I had the cheese pie (not what it sounds like). It was so flaky and delicious. The service was delightful and it was nice and clean. I'll definitely be back! read more

Great cappuccino and latte and nice service. I enjoy the oatmeal and those delicious cookies as well.

This is a great spot for coffee, food (baked goods and some surprisingly healthy/nourishing meal options), and has a lovely environment to work or meet up w friends. My internet was down for a week so I can vouch for many of the baked goods/dishes and drinks, as well as the wonderful service! They really made me feel welcome. Grateful and lucky to have such a good cafe nearby! read more

Got lured in by the sandwich board promoting their pretty cookies. I soon found that "expensive" belonged between "pretty" and "cookies". When I looked at my receipt, I saw I had paid $6.25 for one cookie!! Like $4 wouldn't have been excessive. The Americano was one shot in a full cup of hot water with ice. Yuck. Quality should go up, and orices should moderate. read more

If you like European-style coffee, this is the place for you. If not, you might go elsewhere. I ordered a caramel macchiato, having had them several times at Starbucks, and was surprised to receive a shot of espresso - very bitter espresso - with caramel syrup in it. Have not tried their baked goods, but they certainly look good! read more

We got coffee and croissants from them this morning. Both were so delicious! My husband and I love croissants and are so excited that we now have a place where we can get them + good coffee! I had to wait a little bit longer for my order because I guess they ran out of croissants and were making a fresh batch. They gave me a free coffee card for my wait. Thought that was very nice gesture and much appreciated. I can't wait until we're fully open again and we can actually sit in the coffee shop--very nice decor and atmosphere. read more

I can't believe I didn't discover this cute little coffee shop until just now! So adorable, so clean. Perfect ambiance. The coffee is delicious and the pastries are the best thing about this place. This place is consistently great, the manhasset sandwich is delicious! The bread is always fresh and they use fresh leafy spinach - yum. Their cookies are also very tasty. At first, I thought the food was overpriced but it's worth it. Highly recommend! read more

I just hate to give a mediocre review of this place. The coffee has always been just great. The service is as well. I've had a pastry or two and those have been fine. However, I looked forward to a breakfast sandwich today and just can't describe how awful it was. How do you ruin a breakfast sandwich? The bread was okay, if a bit dry. The bacon jam was way too rich, especially combined with the huge amount of avocado slathered on to such an extent that the sandwich was an ungodly mess and very hard to eat politely. The egg was fried and also kind of rich and messy. I left half of this on the plate, unable to finish and not wanting to take it home. Why would I? This all said, I will continue to get coffee and a pastry now and again while this place brushes up on the culinary end of things. read more

Busy Sunday morning with 1 person working the front who seemed overwhelmed. Service and the food was cold but presentation was pretty.
