Rob did a fantastic job doing a transmission rebuild on my Lexus SC430. After an inspection I was quoted several options (rebuild, replace), prices for each, warranty for work, and the pros and cons of each approach. Prices were better than seen elsewhere, about 15-20% less than other quotes. For a shop dedicated to transmission I was especially pleased to see such a competitive value. Two months in my Lexus works like new and am confident that it will continue for another 50-100k miles at this rate. If you're looking for dedicated, effective transmission work, look no further than Foothill Transmission. Thanks Rob! read more

My clutch went out on my 2016 Subaru Forester while on a work trip in Pasadena, and Foothill was recommended by a few local shops. I have never had such a good experience with an auto repair situation. Rob was straightforward, quick and no nonsense about the diagnosis and the cost. This clutch isn't the usual fare, and they replaced it in less time than Rob promised. This shop is also maybe the cleanest shop I have ever seen. The cost was fair, not inflated - and the service was exceptional. If you need any transmission work, THIS IS YOUR SHOP. 10/10. If I could give these guys more stars, I would. Seriously don't mess about with other places, just call them. read more

Your message is clear, but you might want to adjust the wording slightly for better clarity: "I had a TCM issue with my 2009 Mazda 5. I spoke with a couple of repair shops, but no one wanted to address the problem except Rob. He is a professional and trustworthy guy. I appreciate his work. Thanks again." read more

Robert is a pleasure to work with. He came highly recommended to me and he did not disappoint. He was incredibly accommodating and very transparent in his communication regarding the repair work needed and the fee to perform the repair. He was friendly and very professional. Most importantly, he was compassionate and clearly willing to work with customers on getting the needed repairs. read more

If you're in need of transmission repair or service.... Foothill Transmission Service is THE place. Superior service in every way. My beloved Toyota Sequoia had to be towed into the shop on a Friday night. Rob Greene and his team are professional, communicative (including sending pictures) and principled. From the moment I called to inquire about the repair I sensed I would be taken care of (which for me is enormous.....being a women and knowing little about cars.. let alone transmissions). In addition, to my transmission I had an issue with my rear lift gate locking and Rob didn't hesitate to look at it and repaired it. Thank you Rob and Foothill Transmission for the Topnotch, friendly and expert service!! I'm grateful and would not think twice about recommending you to anyone. read more

I came in today on a recommendation from my long time Pasadena mechanic- Robert helped me and I was greatly relieved my car simply had a code triggered and didn't need repairs. Had a wonderful experience with Rob at Foothill Trans. He is skilled & knowledgeable, honest, and overall just a kind human. He doesn't just try to rush you into a service you may not need, but takes the steps to make sure it is absolutely necessary after the diagnostic. I always feel enormous stress about getting work done in my car, but he made it truly an easy experience. Come here for your transmission needs- you won't be disappointed! read more

I had lights flashing on my 2011 Subaru. I went to another mechanic and paid a lot of money just to find out the lights were still flashing a few days later. I took it in here and within the day they found the problem which happened to be the valve. They gave me a very fair price and the lights have yet to come back on. Thanks guys! read more

I can only agree with all the great reviews this place has. If I could I would give them 10 stars. Robert has great knowledge of what your car really needs, even class action lawsuits and recalls that can cover the repairs. Honest, helpful, kind, efficient... don't hesitate bringing your car here. Didn't get work done (we're replacing the vehicle in a few months) but in the mean time Robert talked to me and gave me some friendly advice which made me want to review. He's very honest and was very easy to talk to. He didn't try to scare me into service in fact he wanted to save me money. Gonna keep this business in my back pocket for when the time comes for service. Hrant Auto Repair recommended them to me. read more

Robert at Foothill was a recommendation from Hrant. I am very pleased with their service and recommend their shop. They replaced the front driveshaft on my 2015 BMW X5. On time and for a fair price. read more

Robert was extremely accommodating and helpful. I must have called 50 places looking for someone able to work on a classic car. Shockingly most shops turned me away as they either didn't have the ability to store the vehicle or were unable to work on a manual transmission. Rob had a positive attitude right out of the gate which was a welcome change of pace. Though he didn't have space available at the time, he told me that they would in the days to come and he was more than happy to take the car. After dealing with so many transmission shops in the SGV and getting turned away I was thrilled to find Foothill Transmission Service. They diagnosed the problem and fixed the issue without any BS. Rob and the guys at foothill transmission service have met and exceeded all expectations, I am more than comfortable giving them my endorsement. read more

As a consumer law attorney, and a former certified arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau, I have first hand knowledge of what honesty and integrity looks like, and what it doesn't look like. Foothill transmission is, by far, one of the most reputable, honest and knowledgeable service shops that I've experienced. Super friendly, with small town prices and customer service, not often seen in the big city. I was really upset and stressed out when our transmission seized up on our beloved Roadtrek on the 210 off ramp, our local AAA tow driver suggested this place and I am so glad he did- thank you! read more

Refreshing to see that there are still good, honest mechanics out there. I brought my truck in to Robert for what I thought was a busted CV joint. Expecting the worst, Robert called me back after just a couple of hours to let me know that my misaligned front wheel was a result of a loose bolt. He replaced the bolt, fixed the problem, gave it a complete inspection, and DIDN'T charge me a dime. Robert, you have a new loyal customer and many referrals coming your way. Thank you! read more

Great customer service and transparent pricing! I was referred by Hrant's Auto Shop to contact Robert at Foothill Transmission in regard to changing the differential fluids on my Jeep. The gentleman that helped me (Rob Greene) was super patient with me and my warranty company. He kept me updated and did a great job! Hoping I never need to have a replacement transmission again but if I do, this is where I'm coming! Great service, honest, clean, and treated me like I mattered. Pleasant experience :) read more

Updated review. I took my Jeep back here for transmission issues after they did good, but very expensive work to my front axle. They said the the transmission was shot and needed to be rebuilt. He estimated $2800 to $3200, but "wouldn't know the exact until he got into it". He said that the Jeep was throwing three fault codes but wouldn't give them to me. I picked it up and took it to another place nearby (Classic Transmission). Turns out that two of the three codes weren't even transmission related but engine and transmission computer issues. They replaced the computers and a few solenoids. Thats a far cry from a trans rebuild. The whole bill was about $1,000. Will never go back. Beware. read more

Rob and his team are professional, patient and thorough. If he says a time, he meets it or beats it, and even in these strange times of masks, social distancing and people on edge, they find a way to give everyone their full attention. Top notch stuff. Superior service in every way. Communicative, timely, finished on time. After my super-old battery died while they were working on my car, dude drove to my house and gave me a jump! My car was making whining noise for a few minutes the first time I drove the car each day. Jean from Jerry's Tires assured me that based on the noise and the milage on my car, it was a transmission issue. Jean introduced me to Robert at Foothill Transmission Service and assured me that Robert would be able to identify the exact issue and make the necessary repairs at a reasonable rate. Jean popped up the car hood for Robert. I asked Robert to check the transmission fluid and he confirmed that there was plenty of fluid. I left the car for Robert to test drive the next morning and identify the issue. Next day, I got a call from Robert stating that the transmission was fine, but that I needed to have my mechanic replace the steering wheel pump and the engine mount. A couple of hours later, Jean from Jerry's Tires called and reiterated the same. When I was picking up my car, I told Robert that my car does not make any noise when making turns. He said that it made abnormal sounds when he made a right turn during the test drive. He also said that the problem was in the beginning stage and that the steering wheel pump definitely needed to be replaced. On the way home, I visited my neighbor, who happens to be a retired mechanic. He examined my car and pointed out that the steering wheel fluid was empty. He said there was no issue with the engine mount. Once the fluid was added, the whining noise disappeared. It has been 4 days and my car is running well. All the folks that I dealt with at Jerry's Tires & Auto Repairs and Foothill Transmission Service were very courteous, but I don't understand why none of them checked my steering wheel fluid level before recommending costly repairs. God bless my neighbor who was able to resolve the issue promptly. read more

I was referred here to get my transmission looked at and had a great experience. Robert was very knowledgeable and had my car in and out much faster than the 2 hours he originally promised. Turns out my potentially car-killing transmission problem were some misaligned gears and low transmission fluid. Came here on Hrant Auto Service's referral. I came here to get my Axle seal and Linkage seal replaced. It was easy to make an appointment and they were very accommodating when I had to delay my appointment time. Manny, the mechanic, is super nice and helpful!
