Most importantly the staff where very kind and being as attentive as possible with the limited staff they had. I'll post an update in 3/5 weeks when my suits come in.

This was, hands down, one of the worst retail experiences I've ever had. I went to the Men's…read moreWearhouse at Auburn Mall (MA) to pick up a rental, and from the second I walked in, it was clear that professionalism is not a priority at this location. No one greeted me. I had to walk to the back of the store to find four employees lounging around in jeans and t-shirts, glued to their phones, laughing, and joking like they were hanging out in a basement--not at work. One employee (Mike, I believe) half-heartedly handed me my suit and pointed to a fitting room, then went right back to the group with zero further assistance. But what truly crossed the line--and made me furious--was what happened while I was checking out. These employees were loudly making jokes about a friend or coworker "probably being gay," laughing and carrying on like it was comedy hour. As a gay man shopping with my partner, it was offensive, inappropriate, and honestly disgusting. We felt completely disrespected and unwelcome. To make it worse, I sent a formal complaint to Men's Wearhouse corporate and never received any response. Radio silence. If the suit hadn't already been paid for, I would've walked out. I'll never return to this location, and I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere if you want to be treated with even a shred of respect

Disclaimer: this is about to get emotional. I really struggle with body image. Because of this, I…read morehave about 3 pairs of pants and 3 shirts that I feel comfortable wearing in public. After losing a little bit of weight, I decided to treat myself to some new, nicer, better quality clothes from a place like Express. I, of course, walked into Express still battling myself and my selfconciousness, convinced I "wouldn't find anything anyway." Enter Rose, probably the best damned employee Express ever had. I explained to her my situation, and without batting an eye, she lead me around the store, asking me questions about my style, what I felt comfortable wearing, etc. The most genuine and helpful retail salesperson I've ever met. She showed me the Portofino Slim Fit shirts and picked out a few different patterns and colors to try. On our way back to the dressing room, she continued to pick up other pieces she thought I'd like. And I nearly liked everything she chose. She really had an eye for what style I'm into, but also what I would feel beautiful in! Some pieces-- like a thin-strapped halter-type soft pink and flower print-- I never ever would have dreamed to try on. But with a few well-placed accessories, all of a sudden it looked totally "me." Rose kept coming back to the fitting room with new items to try on, including an amazing pair of Columnist pants. By the time I changed back into my "old" clothes, I felt like a different person. Checkout was a bit scary-- I knew I was in this for several hundred dollars-- $400 to be exact. *Enter jaw drop.* But, for that, I got 4 Portofino Slim Fit shirts (in different colors/patterns), the soft pink and flower halter, another soft pink lacey tank top, the pair of Columnist pants, a long-sleeved flowy formal black blouse, and a short-sleeved blouse. Rose told me about an offer they had, helped me get it on my phone, and took a whopping $75 off my order. Much (?) more reasonable... I think? But let me tell you, it was so worth it. I immediately changed into one of the new Portofino shirts I bought and felt so much more confident and truthfully... beautiful. Jamie complimented me on the look later saying the shirt looked "just like me." Since then, I've worn several of the pieces and have always received praise for my look. This one shopping trip has truly, honestly, and maybe pathetically, changed the way I feel about the clothes I wear. So, thank you, Rose, for being one hell of an amazing retail employee, and helping one defeated woman feel alluring and self-assured with your words of confidence and your keen eye for fashion.

As for shirts, while they have many different colors and styles, none of them were to my liking recently. The dresses also come in many different cuts. There is a clearance section that affords for even more discounts. This is where I find the most value. There are also sale days that make it easier to buy decently cut clothes on a budget. The clothes are very well organized, even when they have a big sale. That is truly key, when you need to look for something. The sales people are also very helpful. If you need a particular size, they will help you find it.

On the moral compass, this company faces directly opposite to anything that could be considered socially conscious and sustainable. However, because it was for one of my dearest friend's weddings, I decided I had to bite the bullet and go make the purchase. My girlfriend and I entered the store with the exact description of what we were looking for - color, name, size, etc. We approached the counter and were immediately schooled on the difference between an "outlet" and a "store" and were told they didn't have the pants we wanted. By that time, all I could think about was indigenous people chained to machines and toxic waste being dumped into whatever the local river is where these clothes are mass produced.. We were very upset and it showed. But suddenly, another store employee took it on herself to help us. I wish I could remember her name so I could thank her in this review.. But she totally saved the whole experience for us. She emerged from the back with exactly the pants we had asked for, in exactly the color we needed, and even gave me three size options to try.. she was amazing! I was already planning on texting my friend and telling him I couldn't get my required groomsman attire.. ready to be "that guy" in all the wedding pictures. Instead, thanks to this wonderful girl, I was able to text him a picture with the hashtag mission accomplished.. Thank you retail angel! I have very strong opinions about companies like BR and their effect on the planet.. But I had to holster all my opinions and just allow a sincerely helpful and friendly store clerk to win the day! Four stars!
