I'm not sure why this place does not have 5 stars!! I came here all 3 mornings that I visited Philly and did not have a single bad bite. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was crispy, and you can get a side of oatmeal with your breakfast for only a couple of dollars more!! The server was lovely and kept my coffee full during all my breakfasts there, which is more than a girl could ask for. I came here on a Saturday morning on my way to the convention center. It's a pretty standard diner and feels homey, but maybe a touch more pricey than I'd expect. I had the egg and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll, which came with some Philly style home fries. The home fries were savory and crispy, and I could have eaten twice the portion I received. The egg and cheese sandwich was good and came out piping hot. However, the bread was somewhat disappointing it could have used a bit of a toast to it. That being said, the staff was prompt and friendly, and I wouldn't think twice about going the next time I visit Philly. read more

First visit to Philly and this was the first restaurant of the trip, chosen based on positive reviews. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette, and halfway through the meal I found hair in the food. The dish was returned immediately, and I declined a replacement. My son ordered a waffle, but we were served French toast instead. We chose to keep it rather than send it back. The waitress then asked if we wanted strawberries or berries on the waffle, to which we agreed -- only to later find out we were charged extra for the strawberries without any notice or explanation. The waitress was noticeably dry -- no friendliness, no engagement, and no attempt to recover the situation. The ambience was fine but nothing memorable. After reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to a great breakfast, but this experience completely missed the mark. I won't be returning and do not recommend this place. There is a sign over the front door that says something about enter as a stranger leave as a friend which perfectly sums up the experience!! Every single member of the staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is great too. We went in for breakfast. We all ordered a side of the fresh fruit. Even though there was an up charge because it was fresh, it was absolutely worth it. Actual fresh fruit in a diner! We all ordered different things and everyone was happy with their order. I especially loved the grits I got with my omelette. The coffee was good too! The appearance is nothing special, just local diner which is exactly what we wanted. My husband is a career restaurant guy and was really struck by the great staff. He ended up chatting up the owner to let him know how pleased we were. The owner was so friendly, we actually felt like friends when we left. We sent other people we were traveling with there the next day! Doesn't look like much from the outside and they only take cash (they have lots of signage to that effect and yet I saw two customers try to pay with a credit card) . It doesn't look like much once you walk in, either. I almost turned around and left because it looked tight, grungy, and dicey. And yet there were so many locals that I had to try it. And boy, was I glad I stayed. Tables were clean, silverware, napkins, cups, plates, etc. were all as they should be. I saw staff dutifully wiping down after other customers left. I was in town for business and stopped in for breakfast to go. The portions were substantial and very tasty! I got an egg white omelet with fruit on the side. Slightly expensive, but it's downtown so I think it's to be expected. The owner took my order and I loved that he knew almost every person who came in while I was waiting. He chatted with me and made me feel at home. You can tell he loves his restaurant and his community. Solid three star experience, their rating is spot on. I was staying at a hotel around the corner and found this spot on Yelp after waking up rather hangry due to a late night the night before. My boyfriend and I headed over around 10am and were seated at a table right away. From the start we could tell that the customer service was lacking a bit. Being that we were hungover and didn't want to be bothered it was ok. After looking over the menu I went with a basic breakfast of two eggs over medium with potatoes and toast. It didn't take long to come out from the kitchen but I was bummed to be served over cooked eggs. The yolks were solid, nothing to dip the plethora of toast I received. My breakfast companion said his meal was just ok as well. I can say that I loved the "hashbrowns" that I got. They weren't shredded but rather chunks of potato with a dark crispy crust. After paying our bill the waitress just tossed our receipt on the table and walked away. No thank you or have a nice day. Located just a 1/2 block from Love Park. It was Thanksgiving and with everything shut down due to COVID (and the holiday), we were desperate to find someplace serving breakfast. Then we came upon this gem. No open seating inside but they were running takeout. We ordered. We took our food around the corner and sat at some tables outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center. I had no intention in going here initially but I'm happy we stopped by. They're across the street from love park so it's a super convenient spot to grab and quick bite to eat especially if you're in a rush like I was. My only issue is the price. I paid $38 for 3 breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg, and cheese) and 3 drinks. Lololol ordered it from the park and in about 15 minutes it was done. Oh and they're cash only another issue I had with the place. But the breakfast sandwiches were good, fresh, and hot so we don't have any complaints about that. They just seem a little money hungry. For $40 I could have went a brunch with bottomless mimosas just saying. Lol read more

MENU: Breakfast selections, soups, salads, diner-style apps, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, burgers, desserts, breakfast & brunch catering menu. FOOD: Western Omelette - $8.99 Standard fillers were ham and green peppers. I added mushrooms and spinach for just $1 and substituted onions for mushrooms with home fries as my side. Everything was delish, including the rough-chopped home fries with nicely seared parts. SERVICE: They weren't very busy even for a Wednesday morning so we got seated immediately. Our female server was super friendly with very nice personality. Thanks! TIPS: Paying with a credit card generates a processing fee of 40 cents. They're open early 7-days a week but close at 5pm. Visually, the restaurant was so unappealing yet overwhelming. I wouldn't recommend the burgers, omelettes, or oatmeal. 1.7/10 experience and that's generous. To get to the bathroom, you have to go down the steepest stairs imaginable. Filthy bathrooms and generally just an unfriendly staff. The food marketed through advertisement is complete hogwash. False advertisement at its finest. If you're hungry and you're near this place, you're better off sucking your thumb and walking past this diner. Granddaughter found this place on our way to court, menu looks great and sound great. We had everything bagel with cream cheese toasted it was toasted the way I love it. This was a very wet Cheesesteak and I could tell we were going to have a roll problem. There was a good amount of good meat. It was a little thicker slice so you could really taste the meat. The cheese is almost non-existent. What really made this Cheesesteak was the extras. I got the sweet peppers versus the hot. The extras spent a very good amount of time on the grill getting to know each other and mixing their flavors together very well. I ordered a veggie omelet and they put ham pieces in the omelet, so if you're vegetarian, be careful. It was a flat omelet rolled up into thirds, and not fluffy. A night and day experience from my last visit. Today my mom and I came back for lunch, and I don't know what happened, but overall it was the opposite of last time. Our waitress was fine, but not like our last. That really wasn't a huge deal, but the food was just not on point as it was last time either. My mom's chicken cutlet on her panini was thin and apparently overcooked. My panini was edible but stuffed with lettuce and pieces of chicken were falling out; it wasn't neatly assembled like before, and made for a sloppy dining experience. Also the pita bread was dark and almost too crispy this time around. One of the biggest issues we had with lunch was the inability to order ala carte. You would have thought we were asking for something impossible. What is so difficult? My mom did not want a bean salad or french fries with her panini, which is the traditional combo. She wanted a soup instead. They eventually gave into her request, but it was as if it was a painstaking ordeal. I never have gone anywhere where a swap or ala carte purchase was considered agonizing. The second issue was with the soup she ordered itself. I don't know how you can go wrong with chicken noodle soup, but they somehow did. The first visible sign that it wouldn't be good was the lack of egg noodle. Instead it was made with macaroni? Chicken Macaroni soup? I mean this is an offense to chicken noodle soup. To make things worse, there was only one shred of chicken floating around. Frankly, the soup itself tasted like watered down broth and no amount of seasoning, which my mother added in herself helped. It's a shame, because out first experience was great, and this one left a bad taste literally. read more

Looks like a dive from the outside, but it's a very clean, well-kept place with friendly, prompt service. And like most all diners, a large menu with lots of choices. As a visitor from out of state, I was looking for scrapple. Just can't get that anywhere else. As a visitor from the south, I was surprised to see grits on the menu (but didn't try them). They have Tabasco sauce, too. A great addition to any breakfast. In my humble, Louisiana influenced opinion. The scrapple was fried super crispy and piping hot. It's sliced pretty thin and almost all crust. Could be a little thicker. Everything was hot and fresh cooked. Eggs in the omelette were just a little overdone, but not yet rubbery. "Home fries" are good, with a crispy crust, but more a pile of potatoes somewhere between mashed and small chunks. But still pretty good. The only distraction here is the bickering among the staff. With an open kitchen, there's just no place to hide. Overall, a good, standard diner with a good breakfast. Unless you are looking for yogurt and fruit. None of that nonsense on the menu here. read more
