I visited a different Foodland everyday on my visit to Maui. At this location, I grabbed a beet poke bowl for my plane ride home and I also tried the by the pound breakfast. I tried the rice, egg, and Portuguese sausage. It was average tasting, but I like the by the pound price as my breakfast was around $4.00 and I didn't have to worry about having left overs. Good service and easy parking. Please come and create your own adventure.

This Foodland is historic for me, as it marked my 100th grocery store rotisserie chicken of the year. It just worked out that we took a family vacation right when I was set to hit the century mark. I could sit here and gush about this whole journey and how much it has meant to me, how it took me from 2k IG followers to 111k, and how it genuinely did change my life, but I've done that enough on other reviews. I'm going to let it rest. A whole tissi ran $12.29 and it ended up landing at 8.8/10, which ranks it a respectable 16th out of 100 grocery store tissis I've tried. I also got the poke from here, which was PHENOMENAL. The spicy garlic ahi went insane. I never thought I'd be using these adjectives to describe grocery store fish, but Hawaii is built different. On my 3rd trip to Foodland in 10 days, I ended up trying every musubi they had as I've never seen another grocery store that sells musubis. It got me thinking about how much I love a regional grocery store, as they give you a granular look into the local culture. I learned a lot. I learned that spam musubis are so popular in Hawaii because during WWII, fresh meat was scarce as Hawaiian shipping lines were disrupted and the US Military brought in large quantities of spam. Hawaiians began creatively incorporating it into local cuisine... interesting facts like these always send me down the craziest rabbit holes. Anyways, shoutout to Foodland. They are running a great operation in here. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

This review is for corporate not the stor's employees. I deliver for Instacart, this store does not have public wifi ( like Safeway, Costco, Target...etc) it is very hard to get online reception in order to scan the product's plu for Instacart so I avoid this store when im delivering, otherwise everyone is very professional and helpful.

Honestly the best poke I've ever had hands down. I tried it twice here and the 2nd time was even better. The scallops are amongst the freshest and tastiest I've had. I also thoroughly enjoyed everything else such as the ahi and octopus. We tried it both with rice and some wonton chips and I preferred it with rice, but the chips were a nice change.

Loved Foodland in Kihei back in July 2015, and definitely over multiple visits late August 2025 a decade later. Nice, well stocked store and used by locals and visitors alike. Pleasant staff too! The Homie and I liked the deli/hot food section, cold beverages, and items available to supplement what's needed at the condo. Pro tip: join the MaiKai membership program. Purchases add up to significant savings and freebies.

If your in Maui, please try the poke from foodland!!! I went to a few other places and i kept wishing I just went back to foodland instead. During my one week trip I had to of come here Atleast 3 or 4 times. Everytime I got something different and there was nothing i didn't like. Oh and go enjoy it on the beach. Makes it 10 times better!

Such a neat grocery store and I love the variety of baked goods and hot food choices. Definitely stocked up on some treats for my time in Maui! I prefer the hot foods here compared to the ABC store. Friendly staff. I had to get some of the Ube crinkle cookies. Would highly recommend to check out. Prices wont break the bank and yes they have masubi and a cool poke bar!

Easter to find off s Kihei road. Private parking lot which is nice. Be sure to grab a cart outside if you need one. Sign up for their rewards program there are bargains for being a member. They have a great poke bar in the back with helpful clerks to help you make a decision. On Fridays they have $6 specials-if you're a member of their rewards program. Great deals in the deli that day also, clerks there are super helpful if you have any questions. They charge for bags so you need to bring your own if you want to save a few cents. Happy shopping

    Spicy mayo and Hawaiian specialty

I came here 4 times before finally getting my poke!!! The first time, being tourists, we didn't know the poke was located in the back so I only looked in the front. The second time, the couple in front of us took the last pound of poke. The third time, it was too early and they didn't have the poke ready yet. But finally the fourth time we got it!! The spicy mayo poke is the BEST I've ever had. The Hawaiian specialty was ok since the texture was a little too much for us. It's also in bigger chunks so the mouthfeel is off. Would come back just for the spicy mayo.

Foodland has the best poke ever. It's a market and inside they have very fresh poke available. We had so many different kinds everyday and everything was so good. Foodland was closeby to our hotel so we probably tried about 6 different types of poke. The poke is perfection with the Ono giant shrimp chips. They sell it at Costco or Foodland. The POG juice is sold at Foodland and it was so good. I was obsessed and the Hawaiian Sun drinks. I loved Foodland when I went to Oahu too and it's everywhere around Hawaii.

If you're looking for a quick groceries or some hot deli food, this is the place to go as the prices are very affordable, especially the items that were unreduced pricing. I got a very well seasoned chicken and a spam musubi for 2.99. There's a poke spread, but we couldn't have any unfortunately for our trip, but it looked absolutely amazing.

Great grocery store to find anything you need. They have a lot of fun items/flavors that you can only find in Hawaii. I picked up Ube butter mochi & lilikoi butter mochi. The butter mochi is soft, squishy & melts in your mouth. It's so easy to eat the whole container in one sitting. Parking- big parking lot

I've been avoiding this review for a long time. I'm hoping that this message will actually land in…read morethe hands of the corporate management team. I live on Maui. I shop at this Safeway constantly. I also shop at the two other Safeway stores in Kahului. There's a glaring issue at this store which is often noticed by several shoppers as we all search the: Entrances, self-checkout, every checkout line, back to the self-checkout and then... Back outside to get a cart because there's absolutely zero hand baskets to grab a few items. None. Chronically. I shop at odd hours. Tonight, 12:30 in the morning? There were none, anywhere. A few weeks ago? Stacks of them. They suddenly disappeared. I shop there daily. I do not buy a cart full of groceries. I live alone and do not dare fill my fridge. A bag of groceries at a time is sufficient. Having to use a cart causes gathering more items than will fit in a bag, which I want to be able to carry in one trip from my parking area to my second floor apartment. Stacks of these baskets just disappear from this store, suddenly. No other nearby grocery stores apparently have this problem. Times? Always a stack by the entrance. Foodland? Always a stack by the entrance. The other Safeway locations? So many it makes me wonder what's actually happening. The employee I spoke to says 'people just take them to their cars and drive away with them.' Ok, sure. Then why not the Times and Foodland baskets? Why not the Safeway location that has two homeless camps nearby? That store has more hand baskets than parking spots! Recently they started charging 15 cents for bags. Maybe I'm just old school but isn't that what the food we pay a lot for is already supposed to cover the costs of? I pay $5 a pound for 5 apples and then I have to pay 15 cents to avoid juggling them? But with any phone number there's an always sale on most items. They will discount items for me sometimes in dollars but if I want to buy enough I can't carry them it's 15 cents more. Oh, and then they also eliminated the bags with carry handles so paying for bags decreased the quality of each bag I have to buy. And I have to use a cart to make my selections, pushing the cart around looking so empty. It's a psychological trick - remove the hand baskets that carry exactly one bag of groceries, make customera use a cart that is easy to impulsively add a few items too many for a bag, charge for bags and decrease the quality of the bags so they're more difficult to carry. Oh, and once you walked all over hoping to find a convenient hand baskets you have to walk back out to the parking lot to get a cart with self-locking wheels that sometimes activate automatically by one of the two entrances. It's the ONLY grocery store on Maui that can't seem to keep track of their hand baskets. Two stars because this problem is isolated to this store and that needs upper management to intervene. Oh, and while I'm getting management on the line - your new flavors of always on sale buy 2 get 1 free items don't ring up correctly - that's a $4.99 sleight of hand, I mean, false advertising that has tricked me a few times until I figured out what the problem is: the new UPC flavor isn't tied to the sale price that the other 7 flavors of same brand and size beverages are displayed with. An entire beverage cooler with every item marked buy 2 get 1 free should have all the prices marked correctly. I have mentioned it to each store 'management' and every cashier corrects it manually because that's the right price. I'll change my rating to 3 stars if you fix the false advertising on the new flavor beverages. I'll make it 4 stars when the hand basket problem gets solved. If the store manager can't figure it out maybe they could ask the management at Times or Foodland just down the road a bit how they are able to keep their baskets - baskets that appear like they have had them for awhile.
