Poorly stocked. Spoke to the manager, he was unconcerned and quit listening after 30 seconds. Food was past expiration dates (meat).

Smaller store. Convenient location. Helpful staff. I wish more lines were open but this store has all the necessities.

Stopping in to Earth Fare I was curious what the place had in store (sorry for the bad pun) to…read moresatisfy my curiosity. I will say there's plenty of parking outside with a very clean parking lot. There isn't too much inventory spilling out into the front of the store, which is oh so trendy, but it's tastefully done. Walking in the place is extremely clean, after some of the places I've been recently, this is very refreshing. I'll get this out of the way up front. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. Now then I do love their house made foods. Cooking pizzas to order? Come on that's awesome! Desserts and cheeses are ok although I was a little down on their sliced meats and the variety. Their butcher was ho-hum and not very impressive. But... I spotted something I didn't anticipate Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison to name a few oddities. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. If you haven't been here before and are reading this be prepared for a slight price increase. To reiterate they do have an interesting variety of items greatly depending on specific products. I'm sure if you drop by you wont leave empty handed especially with the quality of people there to help.

A great place for fresh salads, exotic meat like bison and elk, and tons of sea food.read more

Since moving this Publix is closer to the house, so I end up here most weeks. I enjoy shopping at…read morePublix for most of the veggies, fruits, meats, deli, bakery, and BOGOs. If they had a salad bar, I wouldn't have to cheat on them and go to the Lowe's Foods! But they don't. So I do. This Publix is just ok to me mainly because of the layout. The produce section is on the opposite side of the store from the bakery and deli. Makes no sense to me. The one on D Road that I e been shopping at for 20 years, and still use for my prescriptions, has the correct layout. Bakery, deli, produce. All aisle 1. The other thing that I'm not a fan of, and I believe this is all Publix, the self checkout doesn't take cash. Cash is still king in my world! But hey, we can't always get what we want. See you tomorrow Publix!

Located in a safe part of town, Publix can cater to and elevate most of your grocery needs. I must…read moreadmit as a former chef then afterwards living in Kansas City and Austin TX for 25 years and frequenting large grocery stores with almost all of the things I've needed under one roof; I've been very disappointed with almost all the grocery stores here. Publix is about as good as it gets for most of their products but for the more adventurous tastes, it falls a bit short. Lets start with the food service area. I recall my love for their Boar's Head roast beef sandwiches, they were phenomenal! So, when I moved back I made it a priority, big mistake. The veggies were a bit older and the bread very hard. The meat was ok but overall it was lacking. The fried chicken was extremely salty while the "home fries" were cold. Also, the baked chicken as of 11am seemed to be sitting for a LONG time. I understand this is hard to gage but just reporting. I believe a better selection would have been nice. As for the bakery, some of their products are suspect. For instance, the cream cheese Danish had a funky flavor while the "fresh made" CC cookies were extremely dry. Next their selection of cakes and/or pies is limited as well. Moving into the meat selection, I was expecting more. Their options for ribeye were disappointing to say the least. I'm talking about in the display case, not from the butcher. Now I will say the butcher was extremely nice when I wanted some Osso Bucco, even taking some out the freezer and cutting it for me! Customer service is important to them. Publix is also pretty far behind on seasonal or promotional products. So, if you like the "monster cereals" like Booberry, I'm still waiting for it while 2 other chains already have it. New Dorito chips and Mt Dew flavors face the same challenges. That said they do have a good display for suggestive sales and the shelves are well stocked. As for the produce, they have a somewhat large and diverse selection. The mushroom selection is sparse. Want to pick up some woodear, loose shiitake, Oyster, Enoki, etc? Not here my dear, although they do have shitake packaged. I've hunted for exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, Buddha's hand, Star fruit etc but they don't carry it. Otherwise they carry the standard fair which is more in bulk than variety. My overall assessment of Publix is it works well for it's target group, middle class SC families looking for good prices on food that is pretty standard with having some "elegances" spread out enough to allow those who are adventurous to try something new. The shelves are well stocked, the environment clean and safe, and house made items such as breads, tortillas, soups, etc are decent. Publix is a good grocery store for the masses.

Parking is shared with other businesses in the area. The store parking lot and inside were extremely clean and well laid out. Granted, this is a new location, but you can see the hard work that the team put in to keep the store looking fantastic. Don't you love it when a business team member goes out of their way to make things right? That's exactly what the very nice lady at the bakery did this morning (I did not catch her name). She went out of her way to find me some bran muffins, and cracked open a package that had already been sealed from their bakery, Just so that I could have that Muffin! How cool is that?! Walking around at the store, I was asked by three different team members if I needed help. Awesome and appreciated! The deli and hot food service is the bomb! Fresh and hot and great selection. The fresh produce department was beautiful as always, seems to be the case with Harris Teeter. We will be coming back to this store specifically because of this interaction and experience.

You get what you pay for! and I get it! it is my fault not theirs but I also blame management for using poor quality ingredients and for the bait and switch factor. Had to throw most of the pizza to the trash, I should have not paid attention to what my friend said about the Monday pizza. About the only thing I like about this store is the bar with live music some days but makes me think what kind of wine am I getting. They are in the business of selling groceries and you would think that the deli and the bar side are just a convenience for the customers but I am not sure I will buy any prepared food or wine from a brand I am not familiar with
