Waited 20+ extra minutes to pickup an online meat order that said it was already ready. There were others waiting into the 30 minutes to get pre-paid subs. It was a Wednesday and seemed to be only {retired aged} people back there and I watched the lady slice 2lbs of meat and it took over 12 minutes to slice only the 2 meats. Like the sloth on Zootopia in real life so that was fun to watch. Another evening, i was watching a lady make one sub for me, it took over 15 minutes for an Italian sub. She did not have any other subs to make either. She said that her lunch was supposed to be 2 hrs ago.. and was struggling. She was also out of olives and asked if I wanted lettuce instead... but they're not the same. I normally avoid the deli here. The store is nice and usually stocked. I'm sure it's good, but prepare to wait, maybe bring a book or a switch to play it's going to be a while. Also, prefer self checkout. There is not a time I've gone through and not re-bagged my orders to look nice and neat for my customers, I guess they think since I'm younger it's not a big deal.. that's most stores these days. Slow down, cold with cold. Meat products with meat. Raw meat by itself. Eggs and bread separate. That's how I rebag it anyway. Please no deodorant or chemical products with food... probably ever for anybody

The only reason they aren't 5 stars is due to price....but then again, you get what you pay for. Always good quality and excellent service. You can't go wrong with their deli, bakery, sushi, or subs. Order your subs ahead of time online because they stay super busy especially around lunch time rush!!

Not enough stars for Austin in customer service! We left a bag when leaving and he made retrieving them a breeze!

Publix on Old Trolley Road in Summerville is one of my favorite groceries to shop at for all of my grocery, food, and deli needs. This store is very efficient, clean, and well run. I have always had a really great experience here throughout the years and they have been consistently excellent across the board here at this Publix. The staff and managers here are super friendly, caring, warm and nice and do everything in their power to make sure that you are taken care of as a customer and that shopping truly is a pleasure. The checkout lines are really fast here and there always seems to be plenty of cashiers and baggers to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Overall this is a really awesome grocery store.

I ordered a cake for my daughter's first Birthday and let them know the smash cake was going to look like a watermelon had to order from somewhere else due to my daughter's Allergies so they made the sheet cake look just like a watermelon! I was very happy with it! They did a great job! The girl that took my order was so nice and it was ready when I went to pick it up! The ladies in the bakery have great customer service! The other staff members throughout the store were friendly too! I will definitely be going here again for our cake needs in the future :)

Always have great beer selection and discounts on em! However, I think the rest of their grocery items are overpriced.

Stopping in to Earth Fare I was curious what the place had in store (sorry for the bad pun) to…read moresatisfy my curiosity. I will say there's plenty of parking outside with a very clean parking lot. There isn't too much inventory spilling out into the front of the store, which is oh so trendy, but it's tastefully done. Walking in the place is extremely clean, after some of the places I've been recently, this is very refreshing. I'll get this out of the way up front. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. Now then I do love their house made foods. Cooking pizzas to order? Come on that's awesome! Desserts and cheeses are ok although I was a little down on their sliced meats and the variety. Their butcher was ho-hum and not very impressive. But... I spotted something I didn't anticipate Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison to name a few oddities. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. If you haven't been here before and are reading this be prepared for a slight price increase. To reiterate they do have an interesting variety of items greatly depending on specific products. I'm sure if you drop by you wont leave empty handed especially with the quality of people there to help.

Who comes to a grocery store and doesn't buy groceries? Me!…read more I love Lowe's Boxcar Coffee and Beer Den. Tucked into a corner, it's a great place to relax with your favorite beverage. The booths are comfy, plenty of high tops, and a few seats at the bar. The coffee is excellent. I'm a purist, but flavor fanciers will love the available options. I'm going to try the beer, because I can buy in recyclable growlers - and it's tasty. But the attribute I like best is that while it's not silent, there's the usual hubbub, it's quiet enough to have a normal volume conversation with a friend or a group. How nice to have a cuppa with friends, and catch up, without shouting over the TVs, blaring music, and arcade games of most places. Plus, there's fresh pastries just down the aisle...

Located at the intersection of not 1, not 2 but 3, three roads... ha haha ha... (A little Lebron /…read moreThe Count mashup humor there) Lowes can cater to and elevate all of your grocery needs. I must admit as a former chef then afterwards living in Kansas City and Austin TX for 25 years and frequenting large grocery stores with almost all of the things I've needed under one roof; I've been very disappointed with almost all the grocery stores here. So, after my mother convinced me to stop by Lowes I was pleasantly surprised with a chain that "gets it" here in town. Walking in I found the place to be extremely clean with some of the nicest employees I've come across since being back in town. Moreover, they're rather smart; strategically placing fresh baked focaccia bread close to the entrance, enticing one's stomach to influence the power of the purse. Next, I challenge anyone to resist their smoked foods as the air is heavy with the sweet perfume. Please note that Lowes carries a LOT of items customers will NOT find at other stores. From the towns best selection of cheeses, rack of lamb, watermelon radish and on the list continues, I encourage all those reading this to shop this store for those harder to find items. As for instore made items, I've tried a few and would like to report my limited findings. First, I bought a loaf of olive focaccia bread a noted weakness of mine. I found it be pillow-y moistness, bouncing back to the touch with a good fragrance however the amount of rosemary in it will repel even the most persistent of demons (odd refence). I bought another loaf of parmesan and I had the same issue, just way to rosemary which I happen to enjoy. I wish they had an alternative without the herb but other than that it's awesome. Another success in the bakery was the Bavarian donuts which I highly advise not buying as they're downright addictive. Soft, moist and a perfect chocolate to cream ratio these things are illegal in 5 surrounding counties! As for protein, I broke down and got the smoked chicken wings and macaroni salad for lunch. Again, this would be a resounding success if it weren't for one overwhelming ingredient; in this case salt. I'm of the belief they marinated these wings in the dead sea as it tasted as if the cap to the salt shaker fell off when seasoning these wings. Otherwise, these wings hit on all notes as they were moist and had the perfect amount of smoke. As for the mac salad, everyone has their version of what are perfect ingredients so I'll just add this, they perfectly cooked the pasta. That is to say the noodles weren't soggy or cooked to death; rather al dente which is perfect for the summertime favorite. As for addins I think they're ok but that's very subjective. Again, a certified hit. I did grab the sushi one day but I'm not a fan of grocery store sushi for the simple fact that the rice needs to be warm and the fish cold as it creates a contrast in the mouth. That said I got the fried shrimp sushi and it was just like any other store, not great. Nothing taken away as I realize most people are happy with this. My point is if I'm craving sushi a grocery store isn't the first thing that comes to mind as a true restaurant has better quality fish and a more diverse menu. To summarize Lowes is a great place to obtain those harder to find ingredients with the best in store created foods among all the competitors out there. The people here are very nice and willing to help however please note you'll need to obtain a card to get the discounts, the one down side of Lowes, is they're a little more expensive. However, "it's a small price to pay" for leveling up on the quality meter. This is my favorite grocery store in town and it's not even close.

Tons of parking, of course, it is a large grocery chain. Parking is shared with other businesses in the area. The store parking lot and inside were extremely clean and well laid out. Granted, this is a new location, but you can see the hard work that the team put in to keep the store looking fantastic. Don't you love it when a business team member goes out of their way to make things right? That's exactly what the very nice lady at the bakery did this morning (I did not catch her name). She went out of her way to find me some bran muffins, and cracked open a package that had already been sealed from their bakery, Just so that I could have that Muffin! How cool is that?! Walking around at the store, I was asked by three different team members if I needed help. Awesome and appreciated! The deli and hot food service is the bomb! Fresh and hot and great selection. The fresh produce department was beautiful as always, seems to be the case with Harris Teeter. We will be coming back to this store specifically because of this interaction and experience.

I ordered groceries online and it was raining when I went to pick them up. She told me just to pull my car in the front and she put all of them in the back for me in the pouring rain. On top of that she sensed that I had been going through something. She reached in her pocket and gave me a little good luck charm. It was a cute little rubber frog. She gave me a big hug and told me that I was loved and she didn't know what I was going through but that it was going to be OK. Not what you expect when you go to the grocery store. The kindness is so touching and overwhelming. Located in a relatively easy to get in and out of location, depending on the time of day and…read moredirection, this Food Lion is a condensed grocery store. I'll be up front I've been twice, once in 2012 as I used to live half way across the US and last week as I recently moved back "home". After living in Texas and Kansas City I've grown accustom to larger and more robust stores with plenty of options like: full-service restaurants, different service stations like Chinese made to order, subs, desserts, you get the idea. Thus, it's somewhat hard for me to change my desired mindset as when I go the grocery store, I like to be able to get everything. For some reason this place depressed me walking in as if the ambiance is muted and dull; devoid of life. Psychologically this can and will affect shopping habits as normally I like to slowly wonder around and engage in impulse buying. No music, lack of interesting displays such as beverage displays stacked up like a castle, food I'm not familiar with and so on. After moving through to the produce section, I was unable to get things such as dragon fruit, the chives were old and decrepit, but at least the most of the other limited options were fresh. Moving down the bakery and dessert isle I was searching for something interesting to grab on the go. Needless to say, a lack of selection meant I wasn't swayed to buy anything as I thought "been there, done that." Curiosity did strike my fancy as I looked over the meat selection and my heart sank as I didn't see a great selection of ribeye with a more generous cap, no lamb, limited pork and poultry options. I found myself wanting to speed through just to be done with the experience. I did zip through the chips and little Debby isles as they had new items that came out at the beginning of the month, alas they weren't available. Checking out the clerk was extremely nice however she hit me with "do you have our card?" I don't like having to sign up for a card b/c just have the prices discounted up front instead of baiting the customer to become a member unless you're those uber big places. Finally, I tried to leave the way I entered and it's a one way. This irritated me as it's an inconvenience to walk around (I know I'm being petty walking another 15 or so yards, but still, it's the principal of the matter). As of writing this, I asked my mother if she liked the place and her opinion was completely different as she likes the size b/c she can get in and out quicker, the one-way door apparently was made b/c of shop lifting and she has a member's card. This is why yelp reviews are beneficial as we're all wired differently and no one experience fits all. For me I wasn't impressed and the only way I'd return is if I was in a rush and the item is common enough to know they would have it. This Food Lion isn't for me, but that's not to say it won't serve others well.
