Since moving this Publix is closer to the house, so I end up here most weeks. I enjoy shopping at Publix for most of the veggies, fruits, meats, deli, bakery, and BOGOs. If they had a salad bar, I wouldn't have to cheat on them and go to the Lowe's Foods! But they don't. So I do. This Publix is just ok to me mainly because of the layout. The produce section is on the opposite side of the store from the bakery and deli. Makes no sense to me. The one on D Road that I e been shopping at for 20 years, and still use for my prescriptions, has the correct layout. Bakery, deli, produce. All aisle 1. The other thing that I'm not a fan of, and I believe this is all Publix, the self checkout doesn't take cash. Cash is still king in my world! But hey, we can't always get what we want. Located in a safe part of town, Publix can cater to and elevate most of your grocery needs. I must admit as a former chef then afterwards living in Kansas City and Austin TX for 25 years and frequenting large grocery stores with almost all of the things I've needed under one roof; I've been very disappointed with almost all the grocery stores here. Publix is about as good as it gets for most of their products but for the more adventurous tastes, it falls a bit short. Lets start with the food service area. I recall my love for their Boar's Head roast beef sandwiches, they were phenomenal! So, when I moved back I made it a priority, big mistake. The veggies were a bit older and the bread very hard. The meat was ok but overall it was lacking. The fried chicken was extremely salty while the "home fries" were cold. Also, the baked chicken as of 11am seemed to be sitting for a LONG time. I understand this is hard to gage but just reporting. I believe a better selection would have been nice. As for the bakery, some of their products are suspect. For instance, the cream cheese Danish had a funky flavor while the "fresh made" CC cookies were extremely dry. Next their selection of cakes and/or pies is limited as well. Moving into the meat selection, I was expecting more. Their options for ribeye were disappointing to say the least. I'm talking about in the display case, not from the butcher. Now I will say the butcher was extremely nice when I wanted some Osso Bucco, even taking some out the freezer and cutting it for me! Customer service is important to them. Publix is also pretty far behind on seasonal or promotional products. So, if you like the "monster cereals" like Booberry, I'm still waiting for it while 2 other chains already have it. New Dorito chips and Mt Dew flavors face the same challenges. That said they do have a good display for suggestive sales and the shelves are well stocked. As for the produce, they have a somewhat large and diverse selection. The mushroom selection is sparse. Want to pick up some woodear, loose shiitake, Oyster, Enoki, etc? Not here my dear, although they do have shitake packaged. I've hunted for exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, Buddha's hand, Star fruit etc but they don't carry it. Otherwise they carry the standard fair which is more in bulk than variety. My overall assessment of Publix is it works well for it's target group, middle class SC families looking for good prices on food that is pretty standard with having some "elegances" spread out enough to allow those who are adventurous to try something new. The shelves are well stocked, the environment clean and safe, and house made items such as breads, tortillas, soups, etc are decent. Publix is a good grocery store for the masses. read more

Very clean store. Everything is always so organized. Employees are extremely helpful! This location has self checkouts, which can be faster sometimes. Great variety of international foods, meats, cheeses, and seafood. The colossal shrimp were so good and fresh! Didn't have a fishy taste at all. Crab cakes are also great. I honestly love coming to this Publix. The store is always spotless, but it's the people who make the difference. Every staff member is so genuinely friendly and always wearing a smile. As an Instacart shopper, I really appreciate that the managers actually take the time to check in and see if I need help finding anything--it makes a huge difference in my day! Publix is usually my first choice when it comes to fresh cut deli meat, I figured that what came with the premium price of their meats comes service and cleanliness. Not today, when I was having my meat cut for sandwiches I was observing a swarm of flies all over the meat cutting stations, I mean they weren't just flying around, they were crawling all over the cutters and scales. Even swatting them from my own face. The person cutting the meat did not seem to be to concerned about what I was seeing, I did not want to appear to make a scene so I went to the customer service desk and the young woman just told me that it was to be fixed and they were aware of it. I love this store and have shopped here for over twenty years. Was very disappointed to learn they wouldn't hire me because of my age. Not all seniors are alike and I can work circles around most of the kids they hired. I also notice the senior cashiers don't work much either, but maybe they don't want to. Waited 20+ extra minutes to pickup an online meat order that said it was already ready. There were others waiting into the 30 minutes to get pre-paid subs. It was a Wednesday and seemed to be only {retired aged} people back there and I watched the lady slice 2lbs of meat and it took over 12 minutes to slice only the 2 meats. Like the sloth on Zootopia in real life so that was fun to watch. Another evening, i was watching a lady make one sub for me, it took over 15 minutes for an Italian sub. She did not have any other subs to make either. She said that her lunch was supposed to be 2 hrs ago.. and was struggling. She was also out of olives and asked if I wanted lettuce instead... but they're not the same. I normally avoid the deli here. The store is nice and usually stocked. I'm sure it's good, but prepare to wait, maybe bring a book or a switch to play it's going to be a while. Also, prefer self checkout. There is not a time I've gone through and not re-bagged my orders to look nice and neat for my customers, I guess they think since I'm younger it's not a big deal.. that's most stores these days. Slow down, cold with cold. Meat products with meat. Raw meat by itself. Eggs and bread separate. That's how I rebag it anyway. Love the staff but this store is severely lacking when it comes to stocking and bagging. They're too worried about pulling to the front which really only needs to be done on the top and lower shelves. Stock clerk told me there are many, many pallets of inventory that needs to be stocked. And letting children bag groceries is ridiculous. Most of the people that bag have no clue what they're doing. Do better. read more

I have shopped at Publix in Oakbrook since it opened. I have easy access to other competitive grocery stores within easy distance. This Publix has friendly, helpful folks working there. Product selections and prices are competitive. Pharmacy is superb for this area. These are why I kept going there. Unfortunately, there is a sound system in the store that is used for announcements and "music". This system is loud, screeching, and irritating to many folks I asked. Each time I have asked I am told it is controlled by corporate. This is not the "normal enjoy your shopping" music of any genre. It seems designed to clear the store of customers to make sure no one lingers. "Buy and get out" is what it does. Until this changes I would not recommend shopping there except for a couple of items and quickly leave saving your hearing and nerves. read more

I have hurt myself twice in the store Austin and Jenn to the rescue I had a stroke and I forget to pay attention to my left arm the first time using the electric cart I forgot to slide the check writing table continued through like wasn't there roped a silver dollar sized piece of skin Austin rushed to patch me up I've still got photos of that mess on my phone today in an electric cart again I was too close to the cart next to be my left elbow stuck out and I scraped it good the entire length of the other basket ripping another chunk of skin Austin was there and he jumped on repairs Jenn a former Navy corps women hasn't forgotten a thing GO NAVY!! Friendly staff and frequent Buy one Get one free coupons. However, the best part is their sandwich/deli counter. This is the only place yet where I can get a vegan cheesesteak. This Publix has top-notch customer service. The cashiers are always really friendly. My kids love getting free cookies in the bakery and I love when they're cooking up yummy meals to sample as you walk in the door. I also love the buy one get one free deals they have here weekly and the pre-sliced fruit in the produce section. Tip: park on the side of the building closest to Midland Pkwy- much easier to get in and out that way! read more

In fairness, this is the closest full grocery store to my house, so I do pop into here frequently. It is a higher end grocery store, so prices reflect that. They do have some good sales, definitely recommend signing up for their online flyer / app / digital coupons. From time to time they offer you specials on items because you are signed up on the digital app. The shopping experience in itself is good here, no complaints. They have rearranged the bread and card section to where the vegetables are. I have never had a 'horrible' experience here from the staff, they are always pretty friendly and upbeat. Store is clean and well lit, plenty of space in the aisles. Shopping here is a pleasant experience. I like the fresh produce and fruits offered here, and my son likes the parfaits and the subs. We definitely like the chicken family pack with sides as a last minute dinner plan. I do not see a lot of the shortages of things that some other stores are suffering through, if they do have a shortage, its few and far between from what I have seen. read more

Publix on Old Trolley Road in Summerville is one of my favorite groceries to shop at for all of my grocery, food, and deli needs. This store is very efficient, clean, and well run. I have always had a really great experience here throughout the years and they have been consistently excellent across the board here at this Publix. The staff and managers here are super friendly, caring, warm and nice and do everything in their power to make sure that you are taken care of as a customer and that shopping truly is a pleasure. The checkout lines are really fast here and there always seems to be plenty of cashiers and baggers to make sure that everything runs smoothly. I ordered a cake for my daughter's first Birthday and let them know the smash cake was going to look like a watermelon had to order from somewhere else due to my daughter's Allergies so they made the sheet cake look just like a watermelon! I was very happy with it! They did a great job! The girl that took my order was so nice and it was ready when I went to pick it up! The ladies in the bakery have great customer service! This location has really fresh produce and an awesome bakery, it is the only place that I order special occasion cakes for myself or family members, the cakes always taste freshly prepared and moist. The frosting... well don't get me started on how good it is. I've tried other grocery store bakeries, even other Publix locations and they always seem to fall short. I appreciate the service that I receive at the check out line, the baggers specifically go out of their way to assist (sometimes even unloading my items out of my cart onto the counter for check out. I find that very courteous and the first time it happened I was very surprised, I mean at what grocery store does that happen??? I love the BOGO deals, some weeks they have better deals than others but if you shop correctly you can definitely stock up on the things that you need/utilize most often. There have been one or two occasions that I found an item past it's expiration date but this seems to be something that happens at many of the grocery stores in the area, I would say it's always a good practice to check the date on your items regardless of where you shop. Literally some of the best fruit compared to other grocery stores. Picked up a few sides from the hot bar for the first time. This grocery store is fantastic! Being new this area of the country, I had never shopped at a Publix until moving here and starting to frequent this store. I have to say, I absolutely love this Publix! It's clean, well organized, usually has great deals and, above all, the staff is amazing! Everyone here is so kind, friendly and happy to be helpful. While it is the most conveniently located grocery store to me, I would definitely still shop here even if it wasn't so close to home. This store is hit or miss for me. Some days the service is great and others not so much. today was one of those days, stopped in to grab some items that were in sale. I had a coupon and the cashier couldn't figure out how to use it, she then responded that it wasn't a valid coupon. It was a Publix coupon that I had just received at the customer service counter. She called over another employee who told her how to ring up the coupon, the cashier looked at me and then said "I guess it was valid." I told her that I knew it was and then she gave me my total, somehow she accidentally erased the coupon and had to go through the entire process again. read more

I've never really been a huge fan of Publix as I've always thought they were overpriced on a lot of their items. However, their staff is always super friendly and helpful. Publix generally has a reputation for being expensive, but if you shop generic products and take advantage of sale items you end up saving a lot of money. One of the best things about publix is that if they are having a sale that is 2 for $5.00 you don't have to buy 2 of the product to get the sale price. When you buy one it rings up as $2.50. Most grocery stores don't offer this. I'm pretty happy with their meat department, you can special order a whole pig with no problem. read more

Great hot food on the go, Deli sections subs are the best. Cashiers and baggers are very friendly and will take your cart out to your car if you'd like. I normally don't do a lot of shopping so I just take my one bag and go lol. But when I go have a cart full it is nice to not worry about the loading process, they take care of that. read more

Publix is a great grocery, the people are friendly and actually do their jobs. They are the reason i go here as opposed to the other groceries. The publix has about 50% more options as well, a nice layout and modern look. Actually the main reason i go here is for their bakery breads, it's real bread which i have had a hard time finding anywhere else here. read more
