The manager was more than just nice - she was warm, friendly, patient, and kind. She was BUSY. Phone calls, long line, deliveries, and she handled them with ease and without a drop of sweat. She was kind to every person she spoke to, including her staff, and I love that leadership. The women who brought out our food and snagged our dishes were also kind, funny, and they just knew how to best make that restaurant sing. People smiled at them because they've come here 100 times, and each time they were treated with kindness and familiarity. The FOOD. The value for dollar is HIGH here. $10.99 for a monster meatball sub with delicious meatballs and plenty of tomato sauce and cheese just melting all over this delicious sandwich. Every cheesy melty bite was amazing, per my kiddo, and when he couldn't finish it, my husband happily finished the sandwich down to the last bite. We got the Philly sandwich on a great gluten free bun and the Power Bowl with shrimp. Both were WONDERFUL! The Philly y'all. ALL DAY. The peppers, the deliciously seasoned beef, the great bun, all fabulous! The Power Bowl was filling, fresh, and I loved all the plump shrimp! I also appreciated that they put the dressing on the side! Cappy's Allergen Friendly Bakery sells their cookies here, and do NOT sleep on the Iced Oatmeal cookie. Some may hesitate because it is soy, dairy, nut, and gluten free, but that may have been one of the best cookies I've eaten ever. Perfectly balanced and chewy, not overiced, and the cinnamon in there was perfect. I savored that cookie for as long as possible. Cap all this off with some unsweet mint tea, and perfection! We will absolutely come here again - I am so impressed by the people and the food, and I cannot wait to see their continued success!

The bread they use is similar to an airy pizza crust, and topped with their three blends of cheese that are melted onto the bread before the meats and toppings are added. I've had almost the entire menu over the years, but my favorite is the simple sliced turkey, with lettuce, tomato (which I opt out of sometimes just because I'm not a huge tomato on a sandwich guy, unless it's an actual tomato sandwich...), onion, and then I ask to add their garlic mayo and banana peppers, and sometimes jalapeños. Their turkey club is a second favorite if I'm craving bacon on my sandwich (they also have a jalapeño bacon!). Their other deli sandwiches are great, like the original with a mix of luncheon and other deli meats. I love their lesser known meatball sandwich and cheeseburger. My wife's favorite is the pastrami. The staff at Alvin Ord's are some of the nicest folks I've met in the restaurant industry, and they're always super helpful to new and old customers alike. The vibe of the shop is like a little beachside surf shop, super casual and comfy, with indoor seating at mismatched tables, along with two screened in porches--one that's dog friendly. I can't recommend this place enough. I'd eat here every other day if I could--and that's only because I usually turn my regular sized sandwich into two days of lunch.

It really isn't a turkey club. It's more of a turkey sandwich with the fixings of a club. What I did not like at all was the bread. It totally killed the sandwich for me. It left a bad after taste. I can't really explain it. It just wasn't good. The turkey was ok. For the price of the sandwich though, I would have expected more turkey on it. There is a much better option across the street. Try Downtown Deli. It is superior to this establishment. Again, just my opinion. Try it for your self.

The restaurant feels clean, inviting, and well thought out. One area that could use improvement is signage. The property has a drive-thru lane and drive-thru windows, which naturally led me to assume there was drive-thru service available. After circling the building, I realizing it wasn't operational, not a major issue, but clearer signage would help eliminate confusion for first-time visitors. Once inside, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which is exactly what I've come to expect from Island Bagel. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the standard I've experienced at their other locations. I ordered the Lowcountry Breakfast Sandwich. The bagel was under-toasted, and the eggs were overcooked. While "stale" may not be the perfect word, the eggs gave the impression that they had been sitting for a while rather than being freshly prepared. The fresh, made-to-order quality I've come to associate with Island Bagel simply wasn't there during this visit. I'm hopeful this experience was an exception rather than the norm. Based on my past experiences with the company, I know they're capable of delivering much better. While this particular visit fell short of my expectations, I would still encourage people to give Island Bagel a try, whether at this location or one of their others. My hope is that this was simply an off day and that future visits better reflect the quality I've come to expect from the brand. Disclaimer: This review is based solely on my first visit to Island Bagel & Deli's new location. It is not necessarily representative of every experience I've had with the company. I've visited other Island Bagel locations in the past and have generally been very impressed. I believe reviews should be honest reflections of a specific experience while also providing constructive feedback that helps both future customers and the business itself.p

The change is really weird and not for the better. The new concept is Phillys Tiki Shack. Because of course you get daiquiris and rum punch at your Philly spot. What? There's bamboo everywhere and tiki masks and a full bar. I'm sure that's fun at night but again, odd concept for a Philly place. But the food has actually slipped. I ordered a Broad Street (steak, grilled onion, provolone). Bread was fresh but the meat was dry as hell, onions undercooked (still a big crisp) and with only a smattering of cheese. The fillings didn't actually go to both ends of the bun. I ended up added mayo which seems like the wrong thing to do but it was hella dry and really lacking in flavor. I'm bummed because I had such high hopes. Unfortunately, whatever this is, still ain't it.
