I've been here quite a few times for lunch and it's really good. It's one of my favorite places to have lunch with a couple friends of mine. We all enjoy it. The atmosphere is welcoming in an old school southern way, the menu has something for everyone, the serving size is more than adequate, and you'll leave here content. While the Rueben or the pastrami sandwiches don't measure up to what you might be used to if you're from up north, you will still enjoy them. After all, this is the south and we aren't known for classic pastrami. I haven't found one yet in the years we've lived here. I've ordered a chopped salad a couple times and it's so big it is a challenge to finish! Quite tasty too. Soups, sandwiches, sweet (or unsweetened) tea... you can have the whole experience here. Servers are proficient and friendly. I might just stop in today for lunch! read more

My brother and his family from NJ were visiting for the week and I wanted to take him for New York Style deli food. We heard they opened this up on Sheridan Park recently. Their hours showed 12-7 online, but when we called, we learned they were open at 11 which worked best for us. There was a sign when we first arrived mentioning the possible delays of service based on staffing. We were seated right away for 6 of us. I ordered the New York Reuben which was stuffed with both corned beef and pastrami. I was stuffed after that and didn't bother with dinner. My brother ordered the Yankee Clipper which would remind most from the NY area of a Sloppy Joe. It wasn't exactly Katz's, Kartzmanns or Carnegie Deli, but for Bluffton it was almost as good. My wife had the matzo ball soup just to see how it measured. She mentioned the flavor was good. A bit light on salt. The mazto balls were a bit firm. The cole slaw was excellent. They do have a bar area and have good craft beers on draft. Our server was new, but did a great job. Overall it's a bit pricey, but worth it. read more

The food that came to the table I will say it probably was marginable. Terrible service 6 tables and 2 waitresses couldn't handle it. Long wait for waitress so we could order. Than another very long wait for sandwiches. My husband asked where his soup was when she delivered our sandwiches, she said "oh thought you wanted with your sandwiches!! "We cancelled soup! Won't be back for awhile as we tried to support them but last few times found service off. BTW there was a guy who was busing tables. Went to Grooby's II today for a late lunch. On the plus side: place is nice and clean Sandwiches are meaty, but for the price I would expect that Minus: had French fries that were very disappointing. Service was a bit disorganized during a relatively slow period. After being seated by the host, there was about a 10 minute wait before someone came over. The waitress didn't introduce herself and seemed frustrated. I ordered the open faced turkey sandwich which was ok. Basic turkey and gravy on a piece of bread. The fries were absolutely horrible. They were dark brown and had a cross between a charred and rubbery texture. They have a large menu so there is plenty to choose from. The waiter did provide the full menu being that it wasn't busy. Good move!! We ordered the open face roast beef and "lady liberty". Oh my! The roast beef was so tender, the brown gravy over rye bread was delicious! The other sandwich was turkey, corned beef, bacon, coleslaw and Russian dressing also on rye. Discovered this place after we got our SC drivers license! We thought it was a little sandwich shop but pleasantly surprised to see how nice and big it was inside. I got the homemade chicken soup with a matzo ball. Very authentic and delicious!! My husband had the pastrami on a roll with coleslaw. The sandwich was good but expected a bigger portion. It's hit or miss here. Have been in several times and though you will find a lot of NY style deli offerings, the quality just isn't there. Just had some bagels with lox... The lox was fine but the bagels were stale and chewy and served sandwich style rather than open face. Served with soupy cole slaw. Tasted OK, but crappy presentation. I tried the meatloaf special a few weeks ago and got a meager portion of meatloaf that was bland and had no texture like it went through a food processor. Sandwiches generally are good sized portions but just not the quality you'd get in the northeast. It just feels like they're phoning it in and not that concerned about putting out their best effort. For the price, you can do better. read more

We started coming here after they first opened. It was wonderful. Lately it has been hit and miss. I know at times they have had staffing issues as has every business. I do hope Stacey the owner succeeds. She is a very hard worker and always there. Many restaurant's fail and I think it is due to inconsistency, which we experience here. Sandwiches are usually hardy and good but they will skimp on the sides, or food is lukewarm. Potatoes are not that expensive, I'd make the meals hardy. The deserts are outstanding. Here in South Carolina about a month. Just finished furniture shopping a few doors down and stopped in for lunch. Didn't know what expect and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the door and were warmly greeted by the hostess. What we thought was a deli turned out to be a combination deli/restaurant with a sit down counter. I didn't get to check out the sit down counter and the open kitchen as I had my back to it. The waitress was very pleasant and turned out to be the proprietors daughter Regina,which we didn't learn until we were paying the check. My wife and I started by splitting a bowl of Matzo Ball soup. Pretty good, chicken celery carrots and of course a Matzo Ball, but the broth was a bit on the bland side. I chose a hot brisket on rye, but got a regular brisket sandwich on rye, not the end of the world. I was actually up in the air trying to decide between them so next time I will get the hot brisket for sure. BTW it was very good, having been born and raised in The Bronx I have some experience with brisket, pastrami and corned beef. The cole slaw that came with the brisket sandwich was very good and made me forget all about the French fries I didn't get with the hot brisket sandwich. My wife got a tuna/egg/chicken salad plate that was very good and so big it will also be her lunch tomorrow. Being from NY and noticing all the NY decor, I asked our waitress if the owners were from NY. She said as a matter of fact that they were. She then told me of there journey from Yonkers NY to The Bronx and finally South Carolina. We will definitely be back and suggest that anyone looking for good NY style deli in South Carolina give them a shot. You'll get some southern hospitality and great NY deli. read more

At a moments notice my wife and I decided to have lunch at Grooby's. It was our second visit there after a disappointing visit last month, but we decided to give it a try. Bad Decision. I ordered the corned beef on rye and she ordered the pastrami on rye. Her sandwich was lacking in meat although the taste was good. My corned beef had plenty of meat but the taste was kind of flat. Both sandwiches came with small and tasteless rye bread with hard crusts. I asked for some horseradish for my corned beef sandwich and after the hostess checked with the kitchen she came back and told us they do not carry horseradish at all. To me that is a pretty standard condiment to have for corned beef sandwiches, especially from a restaurant that claims they are comparable to a New York Deli. Both cole slaws were tasty but very wet and sparsely placed on a small flat bottomed dish. All in all, the service was good, but the check for 2 sandwiches and one iced tea + tip was $40. A little pricey, would you say? No more Grooby's for us. read more

Terrible service! Owner super rude! Dont go! Too many other places to go! I am totally understanding of worker shortages, but never should the owner or whoever she was be so rude! My only bad experience on my vacation! We came as a group of eight to get a quick bite before heading to an Escape room. Restaurant was empty (one other table of 4) and we figured sandwiches, this will be quick. Nope, took 15min just to get drinks, most were water! We let waiter know we were in a bit of a rush and asked politely if they could bring food out as it was done, no need to wait for everything to be done so we could get moving. Owner or whoever she was came over to our table, never said hello, but did ask "if we realized we were a table of eight". I was beyond excited when Gruby's in HHI opened up Grooby's Too in Bluffton. However, my lunch there today exceeded my expectations. My open face roast beef, chicken noodle soup and cucumber salad were to die for. I was hesitant about the cucumber salad bc it wasn't prepared how I'm used to, but it was so good. I highly recommend & Stephen is quite the mixologist behind the bar. We're so lucky to have this place in our own backyard! read more

Not only was is slow but the food was cold and all the orders were wrong. I will not coming back to this restaurant for a while if at all. Been here a few times and it was much better. I should probably stick with the deli dishes. Had meatloaf and found it very disappointing. Smaller helping much smaller than competitors. Baked potato was very small. Butter was foil wrapped and frozen. Service was fast and friendly. I would compare it to an airline meal. We were there for lunch. Wait staff was friendly. The food was good, but needs some improvement on portion size. I ordered a corned beef sandwich on rye. The bread size fell somewhere in between a British tea sandwich and a standard slice of American bread. It was filled with a generous amount of lean corned beef; but, again, the bread size was small. It was, however, quite delicious with mustard. This was a pretty pricey sandwich for its size ($13.99 + $1 for a slice of melted cheese). My friend ordered the stuffed cabbage. Except for the sauce, it was pretty tasteless. Kept having to add salt for flavor. For an appetizer, we ordered 3 potato pancakes for $8.99. The pancakes were a good size and quite delicious with some apple sauce on the side. They come with sour cream, too, but we preferred the apples sauce instead. Since this was our first time here, we will have to go back to try some of their other food items to be fair. But you know, sometimes a restaurant only has one shot to "WOW" its first time customers, or there may be no incentive to return. We won't give up. read more

I've been dining at Grooby's in Hilton Head for years - and love it. So, taking my daughter to the location in Bluffton - I was highly disappointed in the service and the food was not good. Reuben dry as toast (was toasted) - had to get up and go get sauce for it & napkins, since waitress never returned to table. Fries awful. Onion rings burnt to a crisp - hockey pucks! And should have known better, but ordered Oreo cake slice which was plated under cellophane at entrance - tasted like cardboard, probably sliced a week ago! $62.00 later (burger, Rueben & onion rings only) and never going back. No reason for poor service - there were 4 people at the bar and we were the only diners in the dining room. Waitress busy rolling silverware. Reading the reviews about Grooby's Too, we were concerned about how long we'd have to wait to get our dinner. But we like NY deli-type restaurants and we like to support our local community so we decided to give it a go. Well, our concerns were for naught! We had excellent service by a very friendly, professional staff and the food was excellent for its price point! My steak, broccoli and baked potato tasted just like my mother used to cook! My husband enjoyed his Chicken Parm. It's a great place to get a weeknight meal for a reasonable price! We'll for sure be back! read more
