Ate here early on a Friday evening and had a great meal. Chips were generic, but the salsa won points for flavor and some heat. Entrees were also winners, and service was friendly. Nice little spot -- we'll be back. NOTE for those with a hankering for a frozen marg with your green enchiladas -- Leon County is dry. The best thing on the menu is the street nachos! Grilled onions, poblanos with bacon -- so good! We also love their queso.

Better of the two Mexican food options in Centerville- their hours are a mystery tho. Sometimes they are open , sometimes closed lol. But worth a stop and good food. read more

This is a very small Mexican restaurant on the square in downtown Centervile. We recently purchased some property in Centerville and often find ourselves passing by (hungry) on the way to that property on a Friday evening. We love stopping in locally owned, small "hole-in-the-wall" type restaurants. We were not disappointed that we chose to stop. We thought the food was quite good and the salsa was particularly to our liking - fresh, a bit chunky with some kick! The service was excellent as well - we were quickly seated with drinks and chips / salsa served. The meal came out quickly as well. Just had a very tasty meal. We wanted something light to eat. I ordered two cheese enchiladas and guacamole. We were serve chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. The chips were fresh and the warm salsa was delicious. Our meals arrived while we still had chips left. This is a great place to stop when ever you can. read more

A hole in the wall, but that is the charm. Great food! Warm chips and warm salsa. I just had our waitress recommend from the lunch menu and both of our orders were delicious and authentic. We both had A cheese enchilada come with our order, best enchilada I've had. My husband had the carne asada and it was marinated and so tender. Delicious! Our road trip for the next few days is "no chain restaurants" and this set the bar high! read more

Love going here for Taco Tuesday or any other day!! It's a quaint little place with music playing in one corner and the TV on in another. Locals go here on Sundays after church. Stumbled onto this place by accident, like another reviewer said, we were just driving through from Houston to Dallas on a business trip. My colleague was skeptical, as it's just a hole in the wall, but I thought we should take a chance. Totally paid off. The decor is simple and the tables and chairs are cheap, but the salsa is great, the guacamole is great, my tamales were amazing and my colleague (who is a native Texan) said the chile relleno was the best he's had in a long time. Even the rice and beans were delicious and better than you get at most places. Quick, polite service. Clean restroom. Reasonable prices. A hidden gem! read more

It was ok. Service was slow, space is tiny. Salsa was decent, food was only warm and not hot. In a town this small it was better than the super busy Jack n the Box and Woodys Smokehouse for the parking situation alone. Lettuce could have been fresher - I tried this place (met up with my Dad from East Tx and I live in Central Tx) to give him my children to spend time with over spring break. I was yelping things around and it seemed there was a pretty decent mexican restaurant down the road in Madisonville - however one of the yelpers there reported a roach in her food and I wasn't taking any chances. So - food was sort of passable for a small town, and there weren't any bugs in my food - kind of my highlight. read more

I feel like because of the location, this place doesn't get as much business, other than from locals or people who happen to stumble upon it. However, as a local, this place is always my first choice. The food is great, staff is polite and professional, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I love Fonda. The staff is awesome and super nice. I was leery when I first moved here but decided to give it a shot. The food is yumm-o. I like the salsa, it has a good flavor.... I don't dig it being warm but that seems to be an east TX thing. If you're in C-ville looking for Mexican food, skip that place up by the freeway, come down into town (its only a 1/2mi or so from the freeway) and give Fonda a try. read more

Real good Mexican food. The salsa is served hot. He also marinates his steak fajita meat overnight and you can tell the difference.
