My beef tostadas were quite good, with flavorful meat, crispy tortillas, and better-than-average guacamole. Quesadillas were also good, though not particularly exciting. Decided to try a new Mexican food place .... I mean in the town where we live it seems like that is all that is around ha ha We were greeted at the door and we asked to sit out on the patio. It was a very nice evening. They did have fans and TV's outside so a big plus. I got the Mexican martini which was very good and my friend got the pineapple margarita.... Which was even better. I decided to get the special which was brisket tacos, rice, and some kind of cheese corn which was out of this world. The brisket was tender and had very good flavor. I just wish that they could have had cheese, sour cream, and guac for it. My son got the fajitas which he said were way better than any fajitas he had eaten yet in Madisonville. He is on be a low carb diet so he just brought his own tortillas and he had a great meal. My friend got the enchiladas which she said were pretty average for Tex mex. Overall it was great. Let me preface by saying this was my second visit. Everyone has their good and bad nights. Our first visit, the steak was good and the service was decent. Tonight they missed the mark. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were the third group in line. At the front of the line was a group of at least six people. They left five minutes after we arrived because they said nobody would even speak to them. After that group left, the cashier told the rest of us to sit wherever we'd like in a certain section. The bus boy was on the ball and got us drinks right away. He also brought salsa and chips. The salsa was watery and bland. The chips were going stale. The service was hit and miss. We were never asked if we wanted drink refills because the servers never noticed we needed any, even when the glasses were empty. They were not busy, and the staff often gathered in pairs or trios and chatted. Not only does this cost the restaurant money in lost sales, but it's a turn-off for the customers. I got the ribeye special again. The steak was overcooked and dry. It had little flavor, even after I salted and pepperred it. They do enchiladas extremely well. Tonight, the enchilada was a beef fajita enchilada wrapped in a poblano pepper and then wrapped in a flour tortilla, all topped with chili and cheese. It was delicious, same as last time. My wife had a very generous bowl of tortilla soup, which she enjoyed very much. After a lengthy wait sitting at a table full of dirty dishes and empty glasses, we were asked if we'd like the check. The cashier also manned the drive-thru window, tried to seat people before they walked out, and took phone orders. Bottom line: Food and service are hit and miss. The cashier and the bus boy were the only people in the restaurant that had any sense of urgency about them. Even though they are not overly expensive, customers deserve more for their money. read more

We have tried to like this place and have given it several chances but it is a let down each time. The food is bland; rice, beans, enchiladas... Sirloin fajita are dry, taco salad less than average, queso is good. It seems like the recipes change each time we come but we have yet to really love something. The service is subpar; we've had multiple different waiters. We have had multiple issues within the same order/visit. We consistently have to ask for things because either our waiter is MIA or our waiter forgot something we ordered. The environment and atmosphere is nice; probably due to the size of the restaurant that we don't see in Madisonville. The only reason we have tried this place and stuck it out so many times is because of Rancho Viejo closing down. We've eaten here just about every week since then and it hasn't improved. My boyfriend and I come here very frequently. It's our go to spot in town. We've gone in and ordered take out numerous times. We've never had a bad experience. We love their margaritas, tres leches cake and have never had anything on their menu we didn't like. Customer service is always on point too! read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way back home to Dallas. Nice place, really spacious, and super clean. The service was disappointing and the food was okay. The sweet tea was watered down and just tasted like leftover watered tea from the night before. We ordered the menudo and it was more like a stew with no meat. I asked for extra meat twice and nothing was done about it. When asked about our experience I told them I was not satisfied and how the menudo was a waste of money. No additional meat was brought out and we still had to pay for it. Of course we just left it there and didn't eat it. For the price of the food it was not good and their was a great lack of communication with the serving staff. Will not be recommending this place to anyone. read more

The food and ambiance was EXCELLENT! My husband and I had chunky avocado as an appetizer and split the lunch platter of fajitas. Everything was so good! Tortillas were homemade and delicious. The service was spot on. We were seated and had drinks and chips within minutes. The server answered our questions about the menu and the manager checked on us, too. Traveling across Texas after doing a little deer hunting and came across this place on a Sunday afternoon. Yelp reviews were average but we didn't have many choices so we thought it was worth a try. Service: Our waitress and busboy were both very courteous and helpful. They would have been worth 4-5 stars. Food: I ordered the cowboy special. Two enchiladas and a taco. The taco came with no extra shell under it and was therefore soggy upon arrival. Could not pick it up so ate it with a fork. Flavor was ok. Not great. Enchiladas were decent and came with refried beans, rice and guacamole. Other info: Seems that there were lots of teens "working" here and therefore lots of hanging out ignoring customers or making things awkward. When I went to pay my bill at the register there were 4-5 hanging out around register counting tips and chatting. One bus boy was draped over the counter playing games on his phone and discussing teen stuff. The young lady who rang me up just put my receipt to sign under the kids arms - the one playing on his phone. I had to ask him to move to sign my receipt. I don't have a problem with teens - raised three of my own. But seems there was little management going on. Food was average - probably worth 3 stats. If you want a restaurant with good food and good service, this is not the place to go. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was gritty like there was dirt on my shrimp. As far as the service goes I had to ask multiple times for just a lemon for my tea and countless times for a refill. I have frequented this restaurant many times and love the food. I was excited to go to the new location and get lunch again. We placed an order and requested some extra chips and salsa since there were three of us. I went and picked up the food. I was very surprised at how large the bill was. I went over it and saw we were charged for the extra chips and salsa. I paid the bill and they brought the food and drinks out. I asked where the 3rd drink was and they said in the bag with the food. By the time I got to the office and we unloaded everything. The drink's lid came off and poured all over our food, totally saturating the lids and getting into our food. the salsa we were charged for, the cups were barely a quarter full as you can see in the picture. My tortillas were raw and not all the way cooked. We called and spoke to who we think was the owner and she was not sorry or sympathetic at all. She tried to turn it around on us. We were not even asking for a refund, we were just upset with how our food was. She did not say she was sorry or offer anything in return. She did not try to make it right. She just said our food was still okay to eat. I understand they are in a new place but that should have nothing to do with the quality of food or customer service. Went there today, ordered a fajita platter, when it was brought to the table, as the waiter went to sit it down a ROACH jumped from the hot platter onto the table then onto my leg. Fresh, good and will be coming back next time I travel through. Ordered their Mar Y Tierra (Surf and Turf), and the shrimp was sliced creatively and grilled perfectly. The fish was tender and moist. The chicken fajitas were kept warm under the fish blanket and the hot grill....perfect too The beef fajitas were good too. Avocados/guacamole was ripe and tender.
