Environment was uncomfortable as a Michigander, a lovely 67° outside with the heater cranked up inside. We ordered take out so I waited outside. Also, lots of religious and political stuff around. No question whose side they're on, but we are in Texas. That said, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. Excellent food and service! Did not disappoint. My husband had the steak fingers--they were freshly breaded and delicious--and I had a cheeseburger that was just as good. Excellent on the road stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's across the street from the Hampton Inn so we thought we'd try it out while overnighting there. We were greeted by Anthony Jr. with a smile and a handshake. Anthony let us know everything is made fresh with nothing frozen. I got a simple grilled cheese and baked potato and hubby got Philly cheese steak. All was fresh, hot and done perfectly. We went back for breakfast the next morning and I had a pancake, which was very fluffy and tasty and hubby had ham eggs and homefries. Again, everything was perfect. Such a pleasant dining experience! Stopped here on a whim while passing through. I ordered off of buffet while hubby and son ordered chicken fried steak from menu. All was cooked to perfection. Our waitress Nikki was very attentive and made sure the chicken fried steak was cooked to our liking. A pleasant surprise mid way between Dallas and Houston. We stopped here for lunch first time today. The food is delicious. My companion had the buffet lunch. The selections are large and all tasted very fresh and good. I ordered breakfast pancake with egg and bacon. The pancake is to die for. Stopped here after being on the Polar Express in Palestine. The grandkids were starving so we pulled up Yelp to find best diners in Buffalo on Hwy 79 and Anthony's popped up. It was the best choice for the whole clan. Great-grandma had the burger with a side order of small onion rings. She loved it and said that's the largest small order of rings she's ever had. Daughter and one granddaughter had the chicken strips which the 6 yo devoured the strips with her favorite, creamy white gravy. My other granddaughter and I enjoyed the pancake special with over easy eggs which were cooked perfectly. Saw only 2 servers but they were exceptional and worked in tango with the full diner to serve all promptly. Excellent service, food, location and value. We meet as a halfway point because my mom was visiting and wanted to give the great grandkids their Christmas gifts in person (she lives in Virginia). So I went on maps to find a place then check Yelp reviews and this seemed like a good fit. Well it was perfect and will definitely be used more by us in the future. Definitely bring your appetite because you get lots of food. The staff was beyond nice and treated us like we were regulars there, like family. It's an older building but it is very clean. I can't wait to go back because the food was so good and salad bar so fresh, the lettuce was crispy it crunched when you bit into the salad. The salad bar was fresh and had a nice variety of items. The chicken fried steak was excellent with a nice crunchy crust. Good fried okra and mashed potatoes. Oh my. This was our first visit to Anthony's and from now on, we will always make this a stop for a meal when we are traveling between Dallas and Houston. We had read the 5 star reviews before we stopped, very hopeful the ratings were for real. And they were! We had the chicken fried steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The CFS was the best I have ever had! I'm not a big eater, but I couldn't stop eating it. It was that good. The crust was perfect, the meat was tender, and the flavor was outstanding.
