Tuff -all buckled in for his ride home :(
Dawn S.

My friends lost their fur baby and used this place for him. I'm giving four stars as I didn't use this place; I picked up their sweet boy as a favor. This place was so hard to find. I missed it the first time and had to drive around the block again. There are store fronts parallel to the road. I didn't see the sign on any stores so I thought I missed it. There are a bunch of buildings BEHIND those stores that are perpendicular to the road. Phew! The office itself is very small. I don't know if they cremate on site or somewhere else. RIP Tuff. You were the goodest boy. We miss you! :(

Our dog Eli fought his battle with kidney disease and unfortunately, he stopped eating so we knew the end was near. We scheduled the appt to have the vet come by two days ahead of time and they definitely made the experience as good as is possible in difficult circumstances. The vet was on-time and greeted us and immediately, showed empathy for what we were going through. She also pet Eli and walked us through the process. Basically, she gives them a shot to put them under and then you wait 5-10 minutes for that to kick-in and then she gives the final dose which ends their suffering. Everything went as it should and afterward, she let us hold our sweet boy and also take some pawprints since he hated us touching his feet when he was alive. When we were done with that, she took him in a dog bed to the car and reassured us that we did the right thing for him. They contacted us about 10 days later to come pick up his remains from their location on Lamar. They were in a blue gift bag along with a note. Overall, this one of the hardest experiences I've had to go through and the support and service provided by Fond Memories was definitely the right choice.

I picked my baby angel up from fond memories today. Everything and everyone from there is top notch from my experience. Thank you guys for taking such good care of my girl. She's home now and resting in peace

Sadly, this is our second occasion to choose Fond Memories - this time for our sweet girl's cremation. Our first occasion was 2 years ago last June when they took care of our cancer riddled Golden. Everything happened so fast- a blessing for our dear 4 pawed children but leaving us reeling in grief. At a time like that it's critical to be able to trust that a facility is going to do what they say. We chose individual cremation for our fur babies with their cremains return in a simple wooden box. We also get a paw print. They have many service options at all price ranges. Because of the size of our dogs, we opted for them to come to our home to take them to the crematory. In both situations our pets were treated with dignity and respect. Harley was so large they had 2 attendees and with Nani- she had lost a lot of weight so Dr Maggie helped the attendant get her situated on the stretcher and covered with a blanket. The young man from Fond Memories didn't seem surprised that I was blubbering away and he expressed his sympathy. They leave your sweet pets face uncovered and you can have as much time as you need with them. Then they carefully place them in their transport vehicle on the stretcher, and drive them away. Dr. Maggie assured us Nani would be treated in a dignified manner throughout the entire process and that we would be called when her cremains were ready to come home. We feel confident in that part of the process. We recommend them should you need their services. They have a cemetery available too.

I stopped by their open house on Saturday because they were donating $ to the local pet facility of your choice. I did not expect the amazing offerings they have for celebrating the life of pets. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by owner Coleen Ellis. She gave me a huge hug and started to tell me all about their facilities and proceeded to take me on a full tour. I was blown away but all the thought and care put into the cherishing the life of your pets. When you first walk in you see a bookshelf with a display of urns, jewelry, and other beautiful and unique memorials. There are even glass beads with ashes blown into them. I was amazed by the creativity. On another wall hangs a group of fantastic pet portraits. Off of the main room are two ceremony rooms where you can hold a service for your pet. One even has an area for children to mourn their pets. They do the cremations on site and have individual cremation chambers so your pets ashes are kept separate. I was very impressed by the whole setup and passion Coleen and her team has for memorializing your pets.

Inside the packet is a seed pad that you plant and it will bloom!! How sweet is that!!

Losing Dakota to Cancer was the worst thing I've ever witnessed and the most heartbreak I've ever felt. We made the most of it but even when we knew it was time, it was still the worst day of my life yet. Considering what a hard time it was, the pet loss center made the whole experience easy. And it felt like a ceremony/funeral. 1) the van was outside, waiting, never interacting with us until we waved them into the house to help load her. We did not feel cramped and pressured during our last moments. It was just family, like you would want it to be. 2) the young man that came into the house to help load my baby, brought a straw basket with blankets. He helped load her and allowed us to pet her and walk with her. It was a sweet way to transport her. 3) the way we loaded her into the back, he didn't close the doors until we covered her with blankets and said goodbye and obviously were ready for him to take off. Nothing was rushed. 4) yeah they never called me, but when I called, their phones were ringing off the hook. Once I called, a woman collected Dakota's things and packaged them nicely. So once I stated that I was going to be coming in an hour, they were ready. I highly suggest calling and letting them know when you are ready. 5) it is obviously my baby's paw print and fur. And the generic option for the wooden box is actually really nice. They are really busy, keep that in mind. There are not a lot of private pet cremation options in Austin. They do a nice job making it seem like a service! If you are looking for the best vet, look for Compassionate pet vet. The doctor did an amazing job with the whole thing, as awful as it is to go thru it.

I'm writing this so you know what to expect in advance as the Internet is full of contradictory and…read moresometimes alarming information about pet cremations. I've had a pet cremated before, by a third party outsourcer, when he was put down at the vet's. Since it was a swift decision, everything was handled by the vet and I didn't get a choice of pet cremation vendors. I was never sure whether I really got my pet's remains back. Anyway, when you are grieving, you're just not able to think straight, right? So, when I had to face another pet funeral, I was prepared. I did a lot of online research to see what pet cremation options Austin had to offer. There are only a handful. The big ones are very corporate and are a multi-state franchise. Then there are some which are mom-and-pop, but they are just a storefront - they outsource the actual cremation work elsewhere (and you don't know where). Mission Pet Memorials was the only place that didn't get their business from vet clinics - they are "stand-alone" and are part of a licensed funeral home for humans that has been around since 1959. They say they own their own crematory, which they use to handle both human and pet burials. I inquired where it was and drove to the address they provided. I really saw the building. To me, this is as legitimate as I can get in this town, so I was satisfied. When I knew my pet was weakening, I called their number and was greeted by Michelle. She was incredibly compassionate. We even joked a little as she seemed to know I needed cheering up. She said I can call 24/7 and she'll be there. (Note that if you call after 4.30 pm however there is an extra charge - it's all disclosed on their website). Finally, that night, my pet passed away peacefully. In the morning I called them again, set up an appointment right away, and brought his body. A staff member of at the (human) funeral home met me at the pet annex next door and handled everything very tactfully, as if I was burying a human relative. Here is what to expect: they will lay your animal on a table, and show you the cardboard box he will go in. They will let you stay as long as you need. Then, you just pay with a credit card and fill in a very brief form with his date of birth, etc. They pride themselves on a "chain of custody" so that neither your human relative, nor your companion animal, would ever be left alone, or handled by an outsider. I was told the names of all the staff who would be involved in the process, and even, at the end, received a sheet with their names. By the next business day, I was able to pick up his ashes, which was in a tasteful engraved box. Inside, there is a plastic bag with his ashes and a small cloth pouch with a fur clipping (it's not much, so if you want more, you should take a clipping yourself beforehand). The ashes were dark gray chips. My other pet's ashes (done somewhere else) were pale white, fine like sand. I read that the color has something to do with the temperature of the crematory. I'm not complaining - in fact, I think the dark gray chips look more like the real thing. When I picked up his ashes, I also received a death certificate, and, separately, a cremation certificate signed by the funeral home director, plus other printouts to help with companion animal loss. It's a devastating affair, for sure. But what I found most hopeful about this experience is that they took care of my long-time companion animal exactly like a member of my human family, which is the way it should be. For this reason, I am taking the time to post this review in appreciation of their handling. If you are experiencing loss of your companion animal, I'd like to share with you what someone said to me when I lost my first pet. The naturalist Henry Beston said in 1928 about animals: "They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth."

Almost two weeks passed with no update so I reached out to Pet meadows to inquire about the status of our pet's remains on 8-14-2026. I was told that our pet was processed and ready to ship via Fed Ex, but the driver didn't pick up the shipment they were supposed to that day. I asked for my pet to be returned to Aves, because I rather not ship him through FedEx. The gentleman on the phone was very pleasant and said he updated everything and our pet would be returned to Aves on Monday 8-17-2026. He stated that AVES would give me a call and I would receive a text from Pet Meadow. I waited until late afternoon on Tuesday (8-18-2026) and still did not hear from AVES or Pet Meadow. I called Pet Meadow and left a voicemail inquiring on the status of my pet. I received a voicemail from Michael at Pet Meadow which left me confused and concerned. I'm currently under the impression that my pet was already cremated and should have been returned to AVES by now. This voicemail (transcription attached) stated that they were behind on processing remains due to their AC being out for the last couple of weeks and that they did final quality control yesterday (8-17-2026). This does not match what I was told on 8-14-2026. I was told that my pet would arrive 8-19-2026 to AVES. At this point I'm concerned that something happened to my pet's remains. That brings us to today Friday 8-21-2026. I still have no updates. I contacted Pet Meadow and was rudely addressed by a woman there for wanting answers. She blamed AVES and hung up on me. I called Pet Meadow back and asked that this issue be escalated. Thankfully my pet was returned late in the day 8-19-2026. AVES did not get a chance to call, but Pet Meadows did not text me as promised. Where this leaves me... with the lack of accountability and the stories that don't match up... is what I received back my pet's remains? An AC being out for weeks in a crematorium in Houston, Texas, how were my pets remains handled during that time? I am waiting to hear back from Pet Meadow for a legal contact for my attorney to reach out requesting all records related to the care and handling of my pet's remains. I also need them to prove the remains returned to me are indeed my pet.

Either way it is extremely disheartening that they had the audacity to return my beloved pet back to me in that condition. All they did was offer a new one, refund on that item alone, and keep saying "I am sorry". Do better Pet Meadow.. to some.. animals are our children.
