Fon Lee is gone. It is now Kung Food, with new owners. Food was good, but Kung Food is too.

Been eating here for years. Have tried other Chinese restaurants, and no of them come close.

Grand Lake Chinese Restaurant has officially become my new favorite dine‑in spot in West Palm. Even…read morethough the restaurant was busy, our group was seated quickly and our drink orders were taken right away. There's plenty of seating, though the table layout does feel a bit cramped. The food was excellent. I ordered the egg drop soup, beef and Chinese broccoli, salt and pepper chicken wings, shrimp dim sum, and young chow fried rice. The standout dish was definitely the beef and Chinese broccoli -- it ended up being everyone's favorite. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly work hard to make sure every guest has a great experience. With the restaurant only about 15 minutes from home, I'll definitely be returning.

The staff is not knowledgeable about the menu, and we asked if they would make a pretty standard dish not listed and was told no without asking the kitchen. Within 2 minutes after ordering, they bring the chicken and eggplant dish which clearly isn't ours, we have to wait down another server as the kids just drops it on the table. 5 minutes later they bring another chicken and eggplant which we said we'd like put appetizers first, so they take it back once again. Eggroll: pretty small and ok Pan fried dumplings, well done: barely fried, the filling while tasty has so much filler you couldn't tell what type of meat was actually used as it was a pale light color! Chicken w/ eggplant in garlic sauce: we said no extra heat so it came out w more of a bland brown sauce, no garlic, not much flavor. Oh well...it's ok for American Chinese cuisine.

OK, so the poke tacos were not that bad but they don't do fried rice very well. I ventured here with some heffa that I don't even talk to anymore. But that's another story. The service was OK, they need to get their reservation system, right. I made reservations, but the heifer got there first. She said she used my name after they called me to inquire if I was still showing up. I had been there 45 minutes. The ambience is nice. It's dark. It was a Saturday. They were very busy. I'd return again well if they were open, but I would not be eating that again.

We only got drinks this time and we picked the lychee martini, yamazaki swinger, and the Lua Pele Scorpion Bowl. The vodka and the sake in the lychee martini didn't go to well or it was just a bad mix that day. But I was not a fan of the drink. The yamazaki swinger was very watered down and we barely tasted the whiskey. The Lua Pele Scorpion bowl wasn't much of a show and while the drink did taste good, it was mostly filled with decorations. It's supposed to serve 2-4 people but after we took all the decorations out and poured the drink into a cup, it was barely a full cup. I'll definitely give it a try again as I'm not sure how the food was and maybe it was just an off day for the bartender.
