Dined here over the weekend with family in town, after a great dining experience a few months ago. The food was overall very good, as expected. The meatballs seemed overly salty this time, as each bite left big grains of salt in my mouth. The gochujang octopus we got to share was tasty as well. The margarita pizza with pepperoni was delicious. Since many of the pasta dishes are smaller portions, this pizza won't leave you hungry. Others in our party for the snapper and swordfish, which were very good. While the food was very good (not quite as stellar as our first experience), 4 stars for service. The place was pretty busy but our waiter seemed a bit distracted and inattentive as to when we were ready to order our next course. Super cool vibe here and have been meaning to get here so many times. Glad we made it in. Power hour is no joke. Only 5-6 at the bar and the regulars know it. We missed that but we're seated at a high top with four chairs. Not the most comfortable and very awkward seating. Table also not big enough if you are sharing. Food was good. Nothing over the top. The one standout was actually the swordfish. Nice portion and excellent flavors. Pizza was meh (got a white with pepperoni and hot honey). Chicken parm good. Not crispy but flavors excellent. Spaghetti was perfectly cooked and enjoyed. All else underwhelming. Our server was excellent and super attentive. The room is designed in an industrial way with high ceilings and can get noisy. Near a wall, it's a bit quieter. We had an early dinner so it wasn't too noisy. Bread is available for a fee. It arrived warm and delicious. The oysters are served like escargot. They were good, but I like oysters and the sauce and breadcrumbs covered up the taste. The mushroom and cheese pizza was yummy. We ordered it as another appetizer for 4 to share. Note: There is no tomatoe sauce on this pie. My friend loved her fennel salad. She added chicken. My partner and I shared the lobster pasta. The food was about a 4/5. My partner ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, which was tasty, and the chips it came with were good. I shared a prime burger with our child and added fries for a surcharge, but unfortunately the fries were very soggy. Service was more of a 2/5. Things started off well with a warm greeting and smile from our server, Socrates, but after that it became very difficult to get their attention. They disappeared for long stretches, and oddly enough, while they brought glasses of water for my partner and me, they didn't bring one for our child until nearly the end of the meal. When we finally asked, they gave us an empty plastic cup with nothing inside. We'd heard dessert was a highlight, so we asked for the dessert menu--but it took quite a while for it to arrive, despite the restaurant being nearly empty (only two other tables). When we did order dessert, we specifically asked for the bill to be brought at the same time because service had been so slow. Unfortunately, the bill never came, and once again we had to track down our server after finishing dessert. Overall, the food was solid, but the service left a lot to be desired, especially given how quiet the restaurant was during our visit. We came for Sunday brunch and everything was lovely. We had the bottomless mimosas and proseccos. For our meals we had the mushroom pizza with prosciutto added on, a meatball sandwich with fries and the tuna sandwich with chips. We tried some of the happy hour menu which was a meatball sub and a chicken parm sandwich- both delicious. Perfect trying size. The rolls were delicious and tasted so fresh. The pasta was very good. We didn't see him for over 10 mins. Then asked for what we wanted to drink. We ordered our food at that point. He left, didn't see him again until we were almost done. Our first time here and what a great place. So many different people from different places. Just a really trendy, great place for people watching. We've been loyal patrons of Grato since it opened--our go-to spot for a reliably great meal without the formality of dressing up for its sister restaurant, Buccan. Sadly, something has changed--and not for the better. The new manager, new waitstaff, and revamped menu have drastically altered the experience, and not in a good way. The food quality has plummeted. The rotolo tasted no better than something from Olive Garden, the snapper was virtually inedible, and the chicken parm resembled a frozen, pre-packaged meal. Service was equally disappointing--slow, inattentive, and lacking any sense of hospitality. When we shared our feedback with the manager, the response was indifferent at best. Grato once stood out for its thoughtful dishes and welcoming atmosphere. Now, it feels like a shadow of its former self. We hope they course-correct soon, but for now, we'll be dining elsewhere. read more

A friend of ours had gone to grotto and recommended it to us so we had to give it a try. Very charming place on Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. The places incredibly well decorated with all kinds of interesting things and the bar is rather elegant. We were there for happy hour so we ordered drinks and the one that seems to stand out the most is called the frozen Moscow Mule. If you haven't had one it's like having a lime popsicle in a cup. Everybody likes them. We ordered both off of the happy hour menu, small plates and the dinner menu. We had a variety of things come to our table. I had the happy hour meatballs served with polenta, extremely creamy and delicious. The meatballs were wonderful. I also had the house salad and an order of french fries. The house salad was delicious. My wife had the arugula pizza and it certainly lived up to its name. A friend of ours that was with us ordered a pizza that was gluten-free. It was like a deep dish, thick crusted pizza and the crust was really good. Anybody could order that. Our dessert was very special. Grato has joined my weekly rotation- along with the Buccan Sandwhich Shop on its side street (another review for that joint coming soon). I sit at either the bar near the door or the one by the pizza ovens- the food has been so delicious on a consistent basis. My go to's are: the Tuna Tartare- Crispy Rice over Avocado (it's to die for), with Spicy Aioli and Cucumber, the Meatballs over Creamy Polenta, and the Brussel Sprout Salad- please bring that back!!!, the Mushroom or Motor City Pizza, the Grato Double Cheeseburger (especially delicious for $5.00 at Happy Hour) the French Fries, the Butternut Squash Pasta- please bring that back too! 2 stars for grato. As of July 2025 they have a NEW MENU. They have taken pasta away from the chicken parm so you have to get the $19.00 side of pasta to have normal chicken parm. ( the side portion was not large at all and the pasta was stuck together like they didn't stir it ) Also, the chicken parm came with a disturbing amount of lettuce and such on top of the chicken. This was odd I don't know why the chef would do this. I did ask our fabulous waiter alex for a new one without which he did no problem. My friend had the broccolini and said it would have been better sautéed with butter she also stated that it was spicy so watch out for that! We had the meatballs for an app. ( 3 come in the app) they were OKAY nothing special - and came with lots of cheese. I would like to note that they have valet parking as well as street parking. Booths and high tops are both an option. I used the restroom before I left and would also like to note that someone had puked in the sink. Overall I am giving. Love this place but their summer menu was written as if they don't want the regulars to come back. I get seasonal menus but this is not that. Change for change sake seems like and the menu is not inspired in any way at this point. I'll go back once they realize they've screwed up. The happy hour feast! These sliders weren't anything special. Everything was just okay. The best thing on these plates were the chicken sliders. They were crispy, juicy, and the Nashville hot sauce gave it the perfect kick. The coleslaw was the perfect sweet touch to balance the dish. The service was great. One of my favorite meals during our visit to West Palm Beach was at Grato. I couldn't believe that Grato was able to accommodate our group of 11 the day before Thanksgiving! I was able to secure the reservation just four days in advance. The restaurant doesn't offer a children's menu, but they are family friendly and offered crayons and coloring pages to my toddlers. There are plenty of kid friendly dishes on the menu, including pizza and half portions of any of the pasta dishes. My five year old ate all of the half portion of pasta as well as several slices of pizza so I would only suggest the smaller pasta dish as an appetizer or for a very young child. I ordered a glass of chianti and the bucatini carbonara. The bucatini was absolutely delicious!!! The rich and creamy sauce was very filling, but had this been a less hearty sauce I would recommend pairing the pasta with an appetizer or salad. Will definitely be making a reservation at Grato next time I visit West Palm Beach! read more

Once seated, we decided to go with the LOCAL MUSHROOM pizza which was around $23. The food wasn't up to par for me but edible. The sauce had no type of flavor. I requested a side of some type of sauce and the waiter looked at me with a blank look. Then arrogantly "tried" to make a joke about me to the table I was with. Before he could open his mouth to even lift his tongue, I had to tell him your pizza is flavorless & it's better if I correct it then send it back. Nothing on this menu looked extremely appetizing to begin with. I ended up getting marinara sauce on the side and after that showdown he apologized. I forgot his name but he was a black male, pretty average height, and he wore earrings. He was closing out the night as well (night staff). That experience did throw me off because immature workers shouldn't be working in hospitality ESPECIALLY when they're talking to someone that has experience with VARIOUS types of foods from DIFFERENT cultures.
