Grilled tenderloin sandwich on a toasted bun--good!
    Crystal M.

Folkies is a warm, friendly bar in downtown Marion. We came there for lunch and ordered sandwiches. I had a cheeseburger with all the fixings and French fries. A nice touch was that the cook toasts the bun on the grill which makes it crispy and tasty. Fries were crispy on the outside and just right. My lunch date had a grilled tenderloin sandwich with fries and a beer, which he really liked. It's a full bar with typical bar fare and obviously has been here for awhile with paneling. The staff and owner are friendly and do not seem to know a stranger. They have TVs and a jukebox, plus a daily password for internet. Summertime has outdoor seating and they're right in the heart of the monthly First Fridays street fair so it would be a good place to stop in for a bite and to listen to the bands. Would be glad to go back! P.S. Someone said cash only but they now accept credit cards.

Walked in and walked out due to the cigarette smoke. Not interested in smelling that during my meal!

We ordered carry out. We got the cranberry bogg salad (with…read morethe bacon and chicken on the side because, I'm super picky), the garlic cheese bread, the super olive pie, and a sausage pie. We would've also ordered a meatball sub but they were out of meatballs. The only real negative I experienced was the bacon on the bogg salad, it was real bacon, but not crispy. I don't like that congealed fat taste on my tongue. I know it's "cooked", but it's not good. The chicken was very tasty. I was glad I ordered the bacon on the side. The ranch and blue cheese dressings seemed to be homemade and were super yummy! The pizzas were both excellent, I can't wait to order again. This thin crust is my husband's favorite, and the crust stayed crispy even for carry out. The garlic cheese bread and marinara were also excellent! You can tell they use real quality ingredients, and I really appreciate that. No need to order extra cheese, they don't skimp. It would be so easy to give this place 5 stars if it weren't for that bacon. ;)

The restaurant was a lot more kitschy than I was expecting, which I loved. Our waitress had a wonderful energy. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had several unique items. I ordered a Scottish soda called IRN BRU. I love trying food and drinks from around the world. It tasted like an Orange Crush soda. Our waitress said they were known for their Cauliflower soup. It was cold outside so soup sounded perfect. I also got a pepper jack grilled cheese. The soup came in a huge bowl. The combo of the soup and grilled cheese was very filling. My friends ordered the sticky pudding. I had a bite and it was delicious. I cant believe it's taken me so long to eat here. I throughly enjoyed it and cant wait for my next road trip.

It's a few minutes off the highway, but certainly doesn't feel like you're in Gas City, IN. It looks like they added on an outdoor space recently. Nothing too extravagant, but nice enough for lunch. A nice younger man took care of us on the patio. The menu was quite eclectic and unique. The tortilla chips and cold bean dip was a great way to start. Both our soups were fantastic....cheddar cheese for one and leek soup the other. Fish and chips hit the spot and apparently a fan favorite. My wife had the club sandwich of GF bread. Great little local spot if you're ever in the area.

Allegedly, in 1933, Dillinger robbed the near by police station of guns and ammo. Hence the name...Dillinger's Bar & Grill. Dillinger's is a smaller but wide open restaurant. An inviting bar is centrally located. The wooden floors, ceilings and hand-hued beams are probably original to 1880's business structure. The facility is simple and sports a lot of Dillinger references like the table tops. I found the team here to be very friendly and willing to serve. The menu is fairly large with lots of Dillinger coded menu items to choose from. The prices were very reasonable with decent portion sizes (i.e. no highway robbery here lol). We started with the onion rings. They had a thick piece of onion and equally thick batter. The batter had a bit of a beer seasoning, slight oily taste and a moderately crunch. Really good tasting ring! The side salad was small with a nice mix of simple side ingredients - tomatoes, onions and cheese. My wife had the Wheelman wrap. She said it was loaded with tasty turkey and bacon flavors. She liked the fresh taste. The fries were thinner and crispy. I ordered the Silent Shot breaded tenderloin. It was very thick and juicy. The pork taste really came out nicely. The breading was thick like the onion rings - slight crunch and slightly oily. The sandwich came with all the usual toppings. The Cole slaw was also very tasty. The small slaw pieces were almost diced. The mayo base was slightly sweet with a hint of vinegar. It stuck to the slaw pieces without being soupy. Overall another interesting, out of the way place, with good drops and service... to dine and experience some Americana.
