We were visiting from out of town and a friend recommended this place. It has an interesting menu and the food was okay but the service was awful. Took twenty minutes to get a bowl of soup and the waitress was incredibly rude. She acted as if taking our order was an unreasonable request and never came back either to ask about food or even bring the check. We've eaten at restaurants all over the country and in Europe and could remember a similar experience. Won't be going back and will be sure to tell our friends about this. read more

I went for brunch and was thoroughly impressed by the fried green tomato sandwich with bacon and pimento cheese. The tomato was savory and delicious! The strawberry and banana waffles came with a generous and delicious mound of dense whipped cream that made the dish outstanding. Our waitress was prompt, professional and friendly. She never let my water or coffee sit half empty. I will definitely make this one of my Macon brunch restaurants along with Dovetail and Bears Den. However, I sat near the kitchen and was subjected to overhearing the owner scold her kitchen staff for three minutes. Part of the conversation included chastising them because it cost her money when they put bacon on their grilled cheese sandwiches. As you may imagine, I was shocked at the AUDACITY of her lowly plebs in the kitchen... greedily filling their tummies with pilfered breakfast meat! She was petty and very rude. It definitely put a damper on my enjoyment of the restaurant to overhear someone so obnoxiously scold employees who are obviously doing such great work. The burger with grilled onions was very flavourful, but unfortunately dry. They were really busy and must have made a mistake on my order for a med burger and gave me a well done burger. Oh well, it was still good. Loved the mixed french and sweet potato shoestring fries. The candied bacon was beyond yummy and my daughters salmon caesar wrap was excellent. The first time I ate here was the only time I had a good experience. I have come back three times since then and will never return. I don't know if there is a problem with me not being the right hue of light or whatever, but I am tired of receiving no service at all. The first time was amazing. If I had gotten that on return visits, I would have no problem giving this five stars for sure. The last two times were horrible and that includes today. My second visit, I ordered the same burger and there were elements missing from it and my fries were cold. I had to wait a long time to be waited on and then I got no service when my food finally arrived. Not even so much as a refill. The third time, I ordered a salad and the upstream dream just to try it. It looked nothing like the upstream dream I saw when I came the first time with a dining companion. Theirs was lovely with a beautiful sauce on it. I practically got nothing but salmon and bread. Same type of lackluster service. Today was the final straw. I know the waitress I had wasn't busy because she attentively waited on everyone else around me. I watched her. I got ignored the entire time except when my order was taken and when my food was dropped off and that's it. I got no refills on my drink or anything. She came back to ask me if I wanted a cup of tea to go at the end of my meal. When she brought me my first, and only, cup of green tea she tried her best to put it on my table to make sure she made no contact with me as if I had cooties or something. She almost dropped it trying to avoid me. If that is how I'm going to be treated, I shall never patronize this restaurant ever again. I loved it the first time and I wish I remembered who waited on me then (a nice gentleman and I haven't had an experience like that ever since). I am done with this place. 2 stars only for the impeccable food and service the first time I came. Otherwise, I'd gladly give it 1 and wish I could give it none. Wow. Just wow. Exactly what I was looking for in a restaurant today. On way home from south Florida vacation and this was such a nice treat. We eat pescatarian minus dairy and eggs and this place made it easy. I had a quinoa asparagus kale butternut squash lentil bowl plus salmon and it was absolutely perfect. Salmon was seared nicely. Veggies just required stirring them up. It was served with a balsamic on the side but it did not need it due to the absolute freshness. Husband had a salad with a citrus vinegarette with salmon and it too was nicely done. They also had wines and beers! Service was okay. Maybe a bit slow but I think our server might have been new. Also waited a bit to get a table although there was no line at all. Maybe we were ignored for a moment. Food made up for it read more

Had the "macho burger" and it was a tasty, hearty delight. Cooked just right with fresh toppings and some sort of yummy sauce. Wow it was good. Their fries are a combination of potato and sweet potato fries. Colorful and tasty. They don't serve regular tea but sweet green tea in mason jars and it's a nice touch. This is a lunch place, so no linen place settings. It's not elegant, but it is very good, and usually pretty busy (because it's good). You have to look for this place. Not very visible from the road. It's in a small shopping center (called The Prado) across Forsyth Road from the Macon museum. It's always good and worth every penny. read more

Ate here for lunch after hearing great things about the restaurant. I got a Cali Club with fries, which was just ok. My wife got a roast beef on Ciabatta, which was much more flavorable. The wait staff was good and very attentive. The lunch was a bit pricy. We had the two sandwiches, shared a great banana pudding/cake for dessert and both drank water. Driving from Florida to Tennessee we were looking for a place to eat dinner. So glad we made the journey through the other side of the railroad tracks to 'foj'. I ordered the roasted chicken salad with goat cheese and seasonal fruit. The greens are locally sourced and very delicious. My husband ordered the chicken chebela sandwich and he said it was very good! Looks like they have a private room for functions and I saw them carry out catering trays. Local Maconions are spoiled to have a place like Fountain of Juice. We hope to stop by again on one of our journeys. read more

The food is decent, but for the price I would expect great service. I have eaten at this restaurant many times and the service is always mediocre, but today it was awful. Our waiter took our order and the food was delivered 30 minutes later by someone from the kitchen. Seemed a long time to wait for a simple lunch. We never saw the waiter again until we "asked" for the check. We waited another 20 minutes for him to bring the check only to find it was incorrect. I was so frustrated with all the waiting at this point that we got up and went to register to pay ourselves. I told the gentleman at register that our service was not good. He said he was sorry in an unconcerned way and clearly didn't care. Won't be going back! read more

The sandwiches looked great, and if you're wanting something alcoholic, they have an extensive wine and beer menu. This is a healthy change of pace for Macon, and I'll return again. This is a cute little spot in a strip mall with a contemporary menu at reasonable prices. The service was fine but I was a little disappointed with the execution. For instance, we started with Parmesan Truffle Fries but they were very average frozen fries with a little truffle flavoring and some mediocre Parmesan cheese. FOJ is a delightful find in Macon. It is usally busy around lunch times due to it being so close to the hospital. You see sales reps, MDs, and nurses everywhere when you go in. It is worth the wait! Their dill chicken salad is great. I'm not a big dill fan, but it was the perfect balance. Also try their smoothies. One of them even has protein powder in it. Well they had zero juice available and the juice they sell is pre-juiced when they have it so it's not fresh nor can you choose what you put in it. (When I say not fresh I mean it's not made after you order it or while you are there). They really should change their name.... The food was fine but nothing special. Very slow service. No one ever apologized or thought it was inappropriate to sit and wait to place an order for 45 min. Then when I did finally place the order it took a hour to get the food. I lived in Macon for nearly 20 years but now live back in Atlanta. Every time I come to Macon I try to eat here. My body just feels better after eating at this place! The salmon Niçoise salad (thanks, autocorrect lol) is my absolute favorite and they make a flourless, fudgey, decadent brownie that is to die for. In fact, their pastries are a highlight for me because they're always rotating and trying new things. The staff is sweet (if you haven't met Brittany at the front counter, you will and she's fabulous) and it's just an all around good experience that leaves me warm inside! read more

My family stopped on our way from Florida to Illinois for dinner. We were looking for something that wasn't fast food. Nicely decorated and everything was delicious! My personal favorite was the Shrimp Nachos. All their food was great, and generous portions. The staff was very nice and extremely hospitable. My son wanted lemonade which they didnt have, so he used some lemons to squeeze juice and sugar into water for him... above and beyond! Their sweet green tea was also tasty! I have got to warn people about Fountain of Juice in Macon. I took my mom there yesterday for lunch and we both ordered quiche and a salad.....the quiche was so hard on top that there was no way to cut through it with the provided butter knife. I turned mine over and ate from the bottom. My mom tried to pick it up and bite into it. Horrible! Then my mom was eating her salad and a long hair was in there. At that point I'd had enough. I told her to quit eating and called over the manager who proceeded to argue with me about the quiche being too hard. When I tried to tap my fork against it to demonstrate she replied "well now it's hard...most people don't complain and just cut into it". I then went on to explain about the hair in my moms salad and to add insult to injury she said, "where's the hair? I need to see it... our cook wears a full hairnet and she's the only one back there...". (Implying I was lying). She did not offer to comp our meals. She gave us take home salads and quiche (as if I want any more of their food)! I did find the hair for her, but I was angry and offended! $37 we left and I will NOT be returning! This has become one of my favorite places to eat in Macon. Where else can you get a Caesar salad with candied bacon?! It is amazing! The turkey apple Brie wrap is my favorite for lunch as well as the Cali. And their brownies.. YES PLEASE! Their chicken salad has also become my favorite in town too. Highly recommend FOJ.
