And great people to add to the service and ambiance. This time we had the (1) Texas Strip steak, amazing baked potato and veggies. And, (2) a beautiful brisket Enchilada plate with a queso sauce on one and a sour cream sauce on the other, with steamed veggies and wild rice. All so very good! Dessert: American hot apple pie and vanilla ice cream on a skillet, with some amazing sauce drizzled over table side. See the photos for that steamy concoction of flavor party! I was originally planning to go to another famous burger place in town, but this American food…read morerestaurant looked and sounded really good from the photos and menu and was close to my hotel. I visited during lunch so I took advantage of the lunch burger special for $3 off. Horizon 76 turned out to be good for another entree I was craving 2 days later, so I returned a 2nd time. They sat us in the same table unknowingly and I even sat in the same seat. We also had the same waiter and he of course remembered us and our drink order from last time. How's that for customer service? On my first visit I ordered a tea and original horizon burger and added a cup of chili, which isn't really listed on the menu but they can addit to your burger for a few dollars more. I had wanted to try the bone-in burger, but they don't offer it anymore. My friend who lives in Ft Worth had not heard of this place that opened around 2020, but then again he doesn't get out much. Burger - this is a very good burger and I would put it up against the best burgers in town. I don't live here, but I bet it would be in the top 3 for any burger enthusiast that likes thick burgers. The sweet sourdough bun really makes this taste even better, not to mention when you have steak blends in your patty, it elevates it quite a bit. Fries - I've had several duck fries around the country and these were not that good. Not much seasoning at all. Tasted like typical frozen breaded fries flash fried in duck fat. Side of chili - small amounts of anything are usually tasty, this chili is no exception. Filled with beans and comes in like a shot glass. They don't give you much as a side. I guess they prefer you to order the $16 chili entree. On my second visit, my buddy and I were craving a good chicken fried steak. We decided to visit here since you rarely see filet / tenderloin as the protein in CFS, plus knowing the burger was awesome, we figured the CFS was probably good too. For my sides, I chose grilled veggies and loaded baked potato. CFS - This was a good version but I didn't really like the breading due to its color and high flour content. I prefer a darker greasier one. The meat was what I came for mainly and it was really good tenderloin pounded pretty dang thin. Not overly breaded, surprisingly. The veggie medley is truly a mix of about 8 different veggies, which you rarely see. Most grilled veggie sides are 3-4 at most. Overall, my best friend was super impressed and now he wants to return to their BBQ restaurant next door. I was also impressed, but I would come back for a burger or another entree next time.

They do serve gluten free and that was my wife's fav Thank God the coffee is always delicious! The only complaint (if that) was the price. A good breakfast for 2 with tip was over $40. Our steaks were cooked perfect to our order and very tender. Our waitresses were friendly and she was very good with us. The support staff seemed to want us out as soon as we finished our meal though. My biggest reason for the 3 star review is the menu change. No Qual and the devil eggs were not the same as before. This was very disappointing, especially since we hyped up the old version of the deviled eggs and Quail. Overall still worth visiting and still great food.

Unfortunately, it was a really disappointing visit. We stood at the entrance for about 5 minutes with no greeting or acknowledgment. Eventually, we seated ourselves and waited another 10-15 minutes, and still and no one came over, no check-in, nothing. We even tried to make eye contact and get someone's attention, but it felt like we were being completely ignored. What made it even more concerning was that another couple came in as we were walking out and was immediately helped. As a group of people of color, that didn't sit right with us at all. I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but the experience didn't feel welcoming, and that's something I can't overlook. Hopefully this was an off moment, but based on this visit, I wouldn't return.

This is our go-to when we come back from trips. Nothing says home like a country kitchen…read more We often get the breakfast chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes or homefries and eggs. Most recently we opted for some pancakes . Overall the quantity you get for the price is good but the overall quality is not always consistent. The first time we came my husband had piping hot mashed potatoes while mine were almost cold on one side. The next time we came the fries were no longer home fries but just your regular frozen variety. The time after that, one of the chicken fried steaks was a little gummy at the bottom, probably from an uneven fry. This is not to say everything else is bad, they just seem to have an inconsistent cook. Pancakes are good though. Service is typically okay, just like anywhere it depends on your server. If you happen to be seated in a... non assigned area... you may not get the most attentive service and flagging down a different server will just have to do. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating. They also serve pies, giant cookies, and brownies. I do recommend really looking at the pies since the servers don't always know what's in the fridge, so when they say "thats a lemon pie' you may end up with a Buttermilk slice like we did. The brownies are also... not good... so I really don't recommend them. They don't really taste like anything... Overall an okay country kitchen, not overly bad but also not the best. They could use some tweaks and better quality control.
