Confirmed that they didn't have most of the shoes I was looking for in any size lower than a women's 8. She then put in an order for the one brand in my size. She then left the service area. 20 minutes later no shoes had come out so I used the tech system to put the order in again. Lots of sales people bringing shoes to others so finally I stopped one to try to get help (25 minutes in) and he rudely told me I need to be patient. Better prices of these brands of shoe are also certainly available online. If there's no decent customer service or ability to try on shoes in common sizes, why visit this store? I won't be back!

Tonquin didn't have size 16 either-- but the super, super helpful guy working there understood our dilemma, and gave us a recommendation of where we COULD find a size 16, in exactly the type/brand of shoe we were looking for. He saved us from driving around all day to every Famous Footwear trying to find something that might work. So. Although I didn't end up buying anything at Tonquin, I was really impressed (and grateful!) by their "can't-get-it-at-Macy's-get-it-at-Gimbels" attitude, which saved our vacation. If I go back (and I loved the area...I'm already planning my next trip), I'd totally patronize Tonquin with my outdoorsy needs!

The store is huge, has many departments - swim, camping, women's, men's and children's apparel, hiking, biking, hats and accessories, fitness items, winter coats, rain gear and more. But within some areas, there is hardly any merchandise. For example, the Swim section was minimal. There was a big sign and display, but turns out that was it. Literally just a handful of swimsuits, one or two rash guards, no goggles, fins or gear. Did I mention just a handful of swimsuits? Was highly disappointed but since I was there, decided to walk the aisles. The vast majority of the store is filled with clothing. Racks and racks of clothing. Like it's sister store and neighbor, Marshall's, they must get leftover clothing from other stores and sell at a discount. There are definitely good finds among the racks, but I wasn't shopping for clothing and didn't have the patience. Ended up buying a wide brimmed sun hat with SPF of 50 for just $16.99. There were only three customers at the checkout but it still seemed to take forever. Of course this area is filled with a plethora of spontaneous purchases - trail mix, gadgets of every kind, hiking books, flashlights, etc. For me, Sierra will never be a destination like Marshall's where I will go far out of my way to visit. But for those who want outdoorsy clothing, this could be your Marshall's.

There is plenty of room for the various departments - backpacking, camping, sleeping gear, camp kitchen, dog gear, sunglasses, women's, men's and kids clothing and shoes. The store is clean, well lit, and wide aisles So easy to navigate. Today I stopped in to get a new pair of Hokas and another pair of Oofos slides for the pool. The person working in the sandal department was so helpful and was able to locate the right size when I couldn't find one. There is tons of parking out front. Super convenient in every way.
