The reason I gave it 3 stars and not 4 is because of the quite apparent overpricing just so that the "sale" price seems reasonable. When, in fact, the so called "sale" price is likely the base retail price to begin with. For instance, charging $75 for a basic shirt....and then marking it down to $25 on sale. So you think you are getting a deal...when you are actually paying exactly what the shirt is worth. Anyway, I like much of what I saw and the pants fit perfectly, so I would shop here again....but I don't buy the pricing scheme. That's pretty lame.

The other afternoon, my mate and I had the day to kill and the Sunny weather inspired a nice walk about Astoria. It was fun stopping in to some of the little shops that we have only seen from behind closed and locked doors or from the road as we drive by en route to other pressing matters. Many of the places that we strolled into, gave us the sad, but usual coastal customer service treatment of ignoring / half-assed enthusiasm / or annoyance that we dare disturb their lack of working. I am proud to report that none of those places made a penny from us just on principal. Posey-Reed was a totally different story indeed. The wonderful lady that owns the shop was friendly, talkative, personable, intelligent, and really enjoys her business. We spent almost an hour in there just chatting and though we didn't "need" anything at all, we were sure to make a few purchases to be good neighbours and reward a business that cares. She obviously isn't going to retire on our $50 dollar contribution, but at least we know it is going to a good place. Nice and deceptively large selection of collectables, antiques, decor, furniture, vintage clothing, and art work. Many toys, books, and even sheet music await you, ALL at modest prices. She will bargain with you on some of the items as well. For those of you into vintage clothing, I highly recommend checking out her selection that is very well organized, eclectic, and at decent prices. I still had sticker shock from another vintage clothing place in town, but Posey-Reed restored my faith in quality and pricing. Do the community a favour and give some business locally. My friend is a customer there. This was the opposite at this store. After being passed off to the manager by a sales associate, she asked us if "we were there to buy shoes". Is this store a front for something else? What did she think we were in there for? I felt like we had to apologize for walking into the store. We were made to feel as if we were bothering them. Perhaps the employees could be taught to act happy or glad that we walked in. Perhaps they could engage in friendly conversation with customers. Suggest something! This could and should start with the manager. Who knows, with a little different attitude by these store employees, we might have bought something in this store. This piece wasn't available to try out on their floor & the salesperson was not forthcoming about this problem, if she even aware there could be a problem. Stanton is supposed to be a quality furniture company, but obviously they can't design a recliner that will operate correctly. They, at least, should stand behind their product!

(Okay, you called my bluff! Yes, we did.) Firstly, Center Diamond has a fabulous selection of fabrics and the prices are more reasonable than you'd expect. The fabric is sorted into themes and by color-- a feast for the senses! Maybe it's because I've spent most of my time at Joanns (R.I.P.) I was delightedly surprised that they carry flour sack towel fabric. It had never occurred to me to make my own kitchen towels! They have an extensive variety of tools and notions as well as fun vinyl decals to showcase one's sewing love. There's a great selection of patterns with finished samples for inspiration and several kits and a mahoosive selection of stackers, fat quarters, and jelly rolls. The staff was wonderful here! They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and fun. We bought a pattern and they even printed it out for us. My daughter and I can't wait to return! There are so many goodies packed into this charming shop! I got there a bit late in the afternoon but the shopkeeper was very welcoming and encouraged me to take my time as she was doing inventory.
