I'm a sucker for great customer service, and High Cotton does that well. Ryan, the owner, is great to talk to and took his time to tell me and my spouse where to eat and what to do in Memphis. Thanks to him I had the best oyster po'boy I've had to date, on his suggestion of Soul Fish. High Cotton is more of a bar than a brewery however. Granted the brews are made in house, but the environment gives off more a bar feel. This isn't a place you come in and can get a souvenir glass and tasting for a flat price. Instead you can get any beer for $5 or $12, and a flight of beer will run you $8 for 4. Also, don't come looking for cornhole or darts. This is strictly a place to come to sit, chill, and shoot the breeze with a friend. Beer wise there isn't a large selection to choose from, and the majority of the beers are full-bodied. I like beer, but I'm not a full-bodied girl. I like mine on the lighter, floral, and slightly citrusy side. For me the only beer worth a second pour here is the EBR. It had a great color, smell, and taste. I don't not recommend coming here for the beer alone, but if you want to chill at a nice spot with friends for the low this place would work. read more

Good beer, good service, good food trucks! I don't love all of High Cotton's beers, but I do love a couple and the tap room has good atmosphere. They have trivia on Fridays, and always have great food trucks. Biggest problem is that there's never anywhere to sit inside! read more

If you come from Tampa or Detroit just not enough variety and too much from the same vein, not that crafty, but it wasn't bad. Porters were absent in our visit. read more

Not a big drinker but I had a great time and the owner was very cool and personable. They had an Girl Scout event which was for a good cause

Nice place. Knowledgeable bar tenders and a good selection of beers. Recommend the rye ipa. Adjoining resturant has good food. read more

I like High Cotton! It has a pretty welcoming atmosphere and there are some new places (a Cafe restaurant and vintage store) right through the door. You can play games in the back room! I am sure it would be good for events. read more

Tasting room near downtown in "The Edge" district which is about 1 mile from the river. Love the place and the beer. read more

Love the beers here. Love the space. Great break after a tour to Graceland and then Sun Studios. Not sure what was going on with the beer-tender but he was having a bad day or, if not, needs to find different employment. read more

Liked this place much better than Wiseacre. They had flights and happy hour drafts even on Saturdays. The area of town seemed sketch to my out of town eyes, but I could be wrong. They have board games you can play while drinking beer. Few outdoor tables but mostly indoors. read more

Great date night! Ordered a flight and especially liked the "Razz". Great night spot with an eats placate next door called Edge Alley.

This was great. Just tried to squeeze one other brewery in and glad we stopped. Nice selections and good staff!

I've been here for four years and extensively been to all the breweries in town, this one is the best!!! The beer is top notch, the seasonals and the main-stays, the staff are excellent and can always make a great recommendation. The location is good, close to Downtown but also right next to Sun Studio with ample parking. They have great live music and excellent food and coffee next door, which they easily synchronize. It's also just a chill location to hang out for a pint or two. They are a non-smoking bar, but they have a patio in the summer and a covered area semi-indoors where you can have a cigar in the winter. Highly recommended for tourists and locals alike! read more

Awesome brewery. Tried the milk stout, raspberry wheat, and scotch ale. All very solid brews. It felt comfortable inside, well designed. Cool open air seating to the left. The bartender was the real star. We said that we were visiting from out of town and she was beyond hospitable. This would have been a 4 star review (still great!) if it weren't for her. We will definitely be back to visit read more

Nice industrial setting in a great historic area of Memphis just down the street from Sun Records and a few blocks from the Downtown scene...so it's a convenient locale to include in making the rounds! Good People and helpful Barkeeps in my experience. Would be cool to easily view or include the Brew Room when hanging out, so be sure to wander back there for sure! Oh, the only reason my review didn't provide 5-stars is the lack of food substance...gotta have my munchies. read more

Ive been here twice in two weeks. Great atmosphere, friendly quick service. The food truck outside is amazing. Highly recommend and will be going here again soon! read more

High cotton gets 2 stars because of the beer only. Staff here were not very friendly or helpful. Served beer if you went up to the bar but that was about it. It's more of a yuppie neighborhood bar than a microbrewery. Skip the stop and head to other local breweries instead. read more

Superb quality and selection of beers. Customer service is top notch. Great teamwork among the staff. A pleasurable atmosphere.

Great brewery! All the beers I tried in two flights were good. Atmosphere was casual and it wasn't too crowded. As of October the restaurant next door provides food til 8 pm since the brewery doesn't make their own food. Came here to pass the time between a scheduled museum tour and dinner and it was exactly what we were looking for. A 15 minute walk from downtown and it's worth it to get away from the Beale St tourist traps. read more

The beer was great, I enjoyed their Summer Saison Ale which is a dark red because of it being made from beets and cherries. It's refreshing. I loved the space, although it is small. I recommend going on a Thursday night because the weekend will be packed. read more

Nice place with good beer. The main room is kind of small - I guess intimate is more like it - and a little too bright for my taste (with the afternoon sun streaming in the tall windows). The side room looked really cool but it was reserved for a private party that was yet to arrive so I only got to look in. Next time I'll definitely want to hang out in there though. The only negative thing I can say - and this will be a positive to others - is that the place is evidently family friendly. There were two different groups there with their kids - three kids in total, ranging from 4 to 7 years old. They were well-behaved and quiet. And I was only there for about 30-45 minutes while the kids were there. But kids in a bar is just not my scene. (side note - later I went to Wiseacre and a couple had their tiny infant baby there and that place was packed and LOUD - I felt so bad for that baby. What's up with hipsters taking their babies to bars?) Stick-em food truck was there but I didn't get any food. Plenty of street parking is available and evidently you can also use the lot at Kudzu's. read more

Great place! We had a few brews and played cards at a table in the tap room and had a great relaxing afternoon!

We drove by at 1:50pm and there were staff outside setting up tables. We asked if they were open and they gestured to the "open during" signs. They open at 2pm Saturday's. That meant 10 mins away... There was a group of us waiting outside ... And they did not invite us in beforehand despite staff (or friends) sitting inside. There were lots of tourists and locals walking in. The bartender was nice but felt like the manager or owner ???? There originally cared less. Meh. read more

Good microbrewery with great atmosphere and lots of space. Decent IPA's although they do not stack up against West Coast IPA's in complexity or intensity. read more

We stopped by High Cotton Brewing Co., while visiting Memphis on a Friday afternoon and had a great experience. Chuck was tending the tap room and told us about there establishment. He was extremely friendly and helpful and made some good suggestions on which beers to try. We tried several and everyone of them were tasty. The ambience is rustic at this place as it is located in an older downtown area of Memphis. Be sure and give them a try as you will be happy you did so. read more

Very cool place to go and try some great flavor local beer. The setting is very clean and inviting the owners are great people and Memphis graduates to top it off. Large selection of beers and souvenirs that all need to be tried with a nice flight of beers. Highly recommend this place for local flavor read more

Seriously one of the best ESBs and Scotch Ales (oh the caramel) I've ever had. The saison was my home brewer husband's favorite!

This was definitely something I was eagerly waiting for, and it did not not disappoint! The facility looks absolutely gorgeous, the prices are reasonable, and they serve damn good beer! And it's local; I am so glad to see the local craft beer market growing! They also serve food from a food truck located right outside, which is nice. I strongly recommend the ESB! read more

Great place to have a beer. They offer flights so you can try every beer on tap without going all out. Had a great conversation with the owner and female bar tender. Both people are very knowledgeable when it come to their product. I am a craft beer type of guy and this is my type of place. Will plan of come back many times over. read more

Came here with my boyfriend the night after Christmas. The beer is great, the atmosphere is great, and the people that work there are great. Loved the tour and tour guide (sadly can't remember the guy's name!) will come back to visit again next time I'm in the Memphis area! Cheers! read more

**this is not a review for the beer** i dont drink beer, so really this review has nothing to do with what they're actually known for, but i do come visit their establishment ALL the time. mostly due to the fact that they host food trucks here all the time, and they're SUPER local/community oriented so i attend all those events! some notable ones: they threw an amazing event for streetdog foundation the other day! there were 3-4 food trucks there, a silent auction indoors, they had beer available on site for us, water, water for the streetdog pups and everyone's pups that come, and more! they also host many of our school's events like our happy hours and stuff like that. definitely appreciate them opening up their spaces for a bunch of socially awkward unless around beer mid to later 20 year olds! PROTIP: this place is DOG FRIENDLY normally so bring your puppy and dont leave him at home!!! read more

Fun but relatively laid-back atmosphere. Their ESB is a unique offering for the Memphis craft beer scene (which is expanding rapidly). IPA is good too. It's a good place to sit with a group and chat----there are some larger tables in the side room. The only issue we ever had was with a lack of efficient air conditioning on a warm night. But we had fun anyway! read more

Stopped in for a beer after a freezing night of football and dinner elsewhere. We just wanted to lounge over good beers but the only tables left were high tops with backless chairs. The inside of the brewery was chilly. We would've stayed for a few more but weren't that comfortable- they need a couch or something! And a space heater! I give 3 stars because of course their beer is awesome. 1 star for a clean bar, friendly bartenders, and patient service. read more

Fantastic little tasting room with solid local Memphis beers. Love the loading dock that is the patio - stays cool in the summer heat. Good food truck support most evenings for nibbles or go across the street to Kudzus. Only negative for me is the beer temp could be colder. read more

Really nice brewery. The beer I had was recommended to us and it was quite good. I believe it was called Scottish ale. It was good enough the last night we had pizza at Memphis pizza cafe which served High Cotton Brewery and I had another there. Kudos to the tasty brew. read more

Had a private event at high cotton and had an awesome time! The staff is awesome and so personable!! Come here!!! You won't regret it!

Great taproom! Excellent beer! Totally worthwhile trip out of my way to check it out. Highly recommend.

Loved it -- I was faced with the dilemma of wanting to visit multiple breweries butt having only time for one... I sought guidance from fellow Yelpers and, with some triangulation related to my next stop, landed in the High Cotton. Great space with a cool vibe. And, the beer was outstanding. Flights available, and when I had difficulty choosing between two offerings for my final sample, the beertender made a return customer by offering a "taste" that was no less than an additional sample. Turns out that sample (an Oatmeal IPA I was ambivalent about) was the belle of the ball. Overall -- great spot in the Edge district. read more

Great tasting room, service, selection and most importantly, beer. This is a mandatory stop next time I'm in town.
