This has been our place for family dinners for the past few years. I'm pretty sure they have a new staff that's trying to learn how to make a great pizza and they are not quite there yet. I've been frequenting Flying Pie Pizzeria since I was a little kiddo playing on their arcade games at their original location. I'm so excited they've expanded and made it easier to order their gargantuan sized topping pizzas. I normally get the combination pizza and am able to eat like one slice in a sitting because the pizza itself is beautifully overloaded. I even use a fork and nice because it's like that. What's nice is that the crust can support the enormous toppings and not get soggy or flimsy. Flying Pie is a childhood favorite. read more

Pizza is always loaded with tons of toppings, crust has a wonderful flavor. We arrived 40 minutes after placing our order, and the pizza was incorrect. They offered to remake it, after debating we decided we needed it remade since some of our party wouldn't eat it as is. We waiting another 25 minutes. This location is a little slower than other locations but it has the best pizza in Gresham! Home made, hand tossed, hand-rolled, real ingredients are piled high! If you're looking for fast food pizza, this place is not for you. If you're looking for a cheap coupon deal, this place is not for you. Ordered by phone: 1. I was confused and thought that the Miss Piggy was a ham and pineapple pizza - so was very disappointed when we got home and opened the box and found it to be a three meat pizza. But that is on me for not asking. 2. Took about 10 minutes longer than they projected which is not a huge deal, but they had plenty of time to get it ready so I was shocked it wasn't already sitting there waiting for me when I got there. 3. Main issue - we ordered a thin crust as our audience does not like a thick chewy crust - it had to be one of the soggiest pizzas I have ever had and the three meats (although most would say was put on generously which is a 'good' thing) made it so heavy with weight that the soggy pieces just flopped and the toppings fell off. In this case too much of a good thing was not good. There was so little cheese on it that my husband asked if I had ordered it with no cheese. Which made the soggy part even more confusing - as it wasn't caused by a bunch of oily cheese. Like lots of toppings? This is the place to come. My favorite is the Stromboli, pepperoni, Italian sausage, onions, peppers. I should just order the Italian sausage as it is my clear favorite above all else. Even the gluten-free is good which is rare. read more

2 stars for the pizza only. Customer service is always a total disappointment. Almost every time I call to order they act like it's an inconvenience to do their job. They charged us twice for a pizza and ended up putting it back on my boyfriends card a few days later which was good and they gave us a free pizza for the trouble which is awesome. But then my boyfriend was questioned when he came in like he never paid for it that day. There is a record of his card and my card paying that day, they should have know it was already paid for by phone. Lack of communication maybe? I asked for a salad also today and he said we could pick it up there, great, except the blonde gal apparently had a bad attitude and even after asking for the to go container for the salad she said we didn't order it. Ok well if it wasn't put on the order then ADD IT. She then proceeded to print the receipt without the salad on it still. My boyfriend was just over arguing with them and left without the salad. I don't understand why they can't hire decent people at this location, it's a pizza place people not like were curing cancer here. read more

Such a disappointment! I stopped in for a slice. The bored & distracted person at the counter informed me "no slices after 4 pm" and walked away. I should have just left then, instead I ordered a calzone. The entire transaction was nearly wordless, I felt as if I were somehow inconveniencing the employees. I sat at a table to begin my 50-minute wait. There were many dirty tables, a group of employees seemed uninterested. The rug was filthy, the salad bar looked like it was trying to crawl away with bits of everything all along the edge and on the floor all around as well. The old-school plastic grapes they used as decoration were coated with dust and grime. The food FINALLY got called (they don't deliver to your table, you go pick it up) and it was just awful. The pepperoni smelled like hot dogs, the red sauce was bland and watery, the ricotta was grainy and also watery, the crust was soaked in grease. For this and a glass of beer, I paid $15. Such amazing and friendly service. We ordered a 12inch super combo and wow do they pile on the toppings, layers and layers of pepperoni and salami! She was also very helpful with our order, making sure we got the best deal. Pizza took a bit longer than expected to come out, about 20 or 25 minutes but the wait was worth it. One of my favorite lunch spots in East county. Great salad bar, huge slice, drink. Bam. I'm sick all afternoon from eating too much though... As with both Flying pie locations: be careful with the toppings you order, they pile them on so high that it can be overwhelming. I have also had the pink sausage experience here and I don't care what anyone tells me, saugage should be cooked all the way. Big heavy hitting pizza is how I classify these guys. Another thought is you may want to order your pizza well done, they tend to undercook it a bit and the thick crust can be doughy sometimes. read more

Flying Pie Pizzeria is an ok choice for pizza if you are already in Gresham and don't have the gas money to drive further. It's the pizza you settle for, not the one you set out to get. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it will do in a pinch. As other reviewers have noted, they are very generous with toppings on their pizza, but I find that they are a little skimpy with the cheese. The calzones do a bit better as far as cheesiness goes, and their calzones are big enough that you can get 2 nice meals out of them. Still, both the pizza and the calzone that I got from here (on 2 separate occasions) could have benefited from an additional 5 minutes in the oven. I've only ever gotten takeout, but the counter staff is always courteous in person and on the phone when I place my order. It's an ok local pizza place. read more

Decent pizza. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and grabbed the unlimited salad while we waiting. The salad was kept stocked and was fresh. The salad dressings however were pretty thick therefore also tasted concentrated. We were told we got breadsticks with our salads. After waiting for them we asked and they pointed it was at the a salad bar- COLD & HARD. Pizza was very salty. Thought we'd give this place a try. As I geared, they really do put an INSANE amount of toppings. I couldn't eat all of it so I ended up picking most of it off. The reason your pie and toppings aren't so cooked thru? Bc it simply cannot cook thru that many toppings. I am fortunate enough to have a toaster oven so after some topping remival, I popped it in and toasted it to cook the top. It helped. On the bright side, for as greasy as it was, the crust bottom and sides were quite crispy and not falling apart. As others mentioned. The toppings taste of cheap quality. Wasn't horrid, just clearly not worth the extra you pay for "great pizza" I wouldn't rule it out as an option but to be honest, pizza Hut sounds better to me now lol. read more

We stopped by here because we've enjoyed their other locations. The pizza was still okay, but couldn't enjoy it because of the horrible service. It took 40 minutes to get our small pizza, which was surprising considering the many staff in the back and the very few customers in the restaurant. We overheard them mistaking an order to go in front of ours and saw them manhandling the pizza. We hoped that wouldn't happen to our order but what do ya know?? It sure did. The staff grabbing the entire pizza pulled it all apart. One staff member came to the tables immediately around us, both before AND after getting our food, cleaning, which felt invasive of our space, particularly as it was over three hours before their closing time. The first time around we ignored it but said something the second time when she came around vacuuming - loudly of course - bringing disappointed looks from us and other customers around us. When we asked if she could not vacuum around us while we ate she got defensive and simply went to the other side of the restaurant and vacuumed there. All around bad experience. Disappointing as we would have enjoyed being regular customers there. Won't be back! read more

A couple of things. First, this has a very traditional pizza place vibe. If you like watching the guys throw the pizzas, you enjoy a pitcher of beer, playing some video games in the corner while waiting, then this is your place. Quality of pizza is good. They put a lot of toppings on. I especially like their red sauces, which they have a couple of cans of out on display (stanislaus food products). They are very tasty, and they serve the sauce on the side for dipping with their cheesy bread. Prices are a little high compared to chains, but reasonable when compared to their peers (like bellagios down the street or main st. pizza). If you want a pizza in gresham, give Flying Pie a shot. read more
