Two things originally brought me to flying pie number one. My little sister worked there when we first moved up here in Portland and got that nepotism hook up. The second thing that brought me there was when I was big into checking out food challenges. I heard that they had a single pizza you can't finish challenge and I was thinking, man I can crush that. Fast forward till the first time I ate there with my little sister and realized they have the heaviest thickest pizzas I've ever seen. Now that might be your thing if you go to is that for me if I'm gonna get a real thick kind of American heavy pizza I'm just gonna go grab a $10 one from Costco and call it a day. It's just not my jam and again I know it is for some other people. The ingredients are fresh. The people they make a good pizza they throw it. They stretch it. They've got a nice oven all that kind of stuff. It's just not for me if it's a focaccia pizza or a deep dish pizza yeah load me up but if you're looking for anything semi traditional or European or giving you that light refreshing pizza deliciousness this might not be the place. My last review was based on poor service from 2022. I had rated 1-2 stars cuz it was deserved. The owner reached out to me here on yelp and encouraged me to try it again due to new management. I'm glad I finally did. The service is like it was when this location first opened up, and the pizza is better than it's ever been. It definitely rivals the original location. Pizza wise the toppings are great quality and lean towards the heavier side. The old location on 82nd used to have super heavy toppings, while this is about 2/3rds of that which is more manageable. Crust is a bit on the chewy side and sauce is solid (tangy but not overbearing). Crunch is minimal but the crust isnt floppy. I think the toppings are better quality than they once were. The combos including sausage aren't as greasy and you don't getta raw sausage taste. I had this location at 1 star in the past and they earned 3 more now. I appreciate a good local business that wants to make a great product. read more

Being from out of town we always look for places to eat by using Yelp. This town seems to be very critical on pizza restaurants. This place has one the best pizzas we've ever had. Half pepperoni/sausage and half Canadian/pineapple, was loaded with toppings and the crust was delicious. Try it you'll like it, their Yelp rating should be higher. read more

Pizza was okay. The toppings were a plenty but didn't really have much taste. We got half ground beef and mushrooms and half onions and Canadian bacon and I was very happy with the amount of toppings but there was quite literally no taste whatsoever. We have always loved the pizza here (and the salad bar)! Plus, it's the ONLY place I can get yummy gluten free crust and no cheese and SO many toppings (as-is)! I've been to other places and asked for extra toppings and it's a joke what they "add". It's definitely not cheap to eat here (where is it though?)... but worth it for me when I'm craving good pizza! read more

It is unacceptable to be open for business and not put ice melt down for your customers. According to the manager, the owner refused to buy ice melt creating a safety hazard and liability for the customers and the employees. The pizza was good. The salad bar was low qua. Not customer service oriented!! They are open until 8pm but if you want to call ahead for pickup of your order, it has to be picked up by 7:15 !? What's the point of being open until 8?? Great pizza and great staff. Got a large pepperoni with onions and green peppers the other night and it was pretty good. Good, high-quality ingredients, decent sauce, and an excellent crust. My only issue was the quantity of of the toppings. I appreciate that they load the pizza up with toppings, but they go a little too far for me. The excessive toppings make the crust cook a little unevenly and made the pizza kind of hard to eat. Tasted great but extremely messy. What happened to you, Flying Pie? Your pizzas used to be huge, with tons & tons of toppings, and ooey-gooey goodness. Now we feel like we just bought a far inferior pizza, with 60% of the ingredients, for a much higher price. Very expensive, okay pizza from what used to be a titan in the industry -- as well as being literally the only pizza shop I'd frequent. I don't know if they over worked the dough or what but none of us felt like eating more than two slices as our jaws were tired after just two. ALLERGEN ALERT: UNWILLING TO ACCOMODATE IN THE SLIGHTEST My wife is allergic to tomatoes, so when her father had a birthday party here, we had to order her food special and separate. No big, we do it all the time (you would be amazed how much stuff has tomatoes in it.) So we order her a calzone, and make sure to put TOMATO ALLERGY on the order. 1) they tried to serve it with a side of FREAKING MARINARA SAUCE, and when I asked if it could be substituted for another sauce (ranch) due to the allergy, I was given a flippant response of "it's $1 for ranch, sauce is free, no substitutions" And when I expressed my exasperation at being charged what is essentially an "allergy tax" the cashier threatened to refuse service. The Gresham Flying Pie still makes their pizza like they did when they first opened. Tons of toppings and cheese. The dough is crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. Get the garlic and seasonings! Whenever in Gresham I order an extra large and freeze slices. Just defrost and put in a frying pan with a lid. Flip it over when hot to crisp the crust and pepperonis on the other side. Tastes like it was just made! Sooo good!!! Definitely visit this location!!!! read more

I have been to this restaurant twice, the first time I went for a "wild" taco pizza (which was okay), the second time I went back to give it the benefit of the doubt. And boy can I tell you-- If you like lots of meat this pizza is for you! I, on the other hand, like my pizza with a little more balance. I got a pepperoni pizza and the cheese was nearly non existent under the 4-5 layers of cheap pepperoni. The closer I got to the center of the pizza slices it was filled with the tastes of undercooked dough and cold pepperoni. I've gone before and after their "zany" change (ie. they took down the cardboard pizza drawings). The first time it was pretty empty and kinda charming; however, the second time was loud and had a party with kids running around the place, I felt bad for the employees having to tell them not to run or stop them from putting their hands all over the salad bar. Maybe they should've gave them some cardboard pizza disks to draw on... All in all, I think I'll try my luck somewhere else.
