Disappointed and disgusted how the management handled the complaint of a patron being assaulted.

Sunday nights are best spent at home, getting ready to start the work week and going to bed early - right? Wrong! If it's a Sunday night you should be at the Flying Monkey Pub in Tremont, flipping through the karaoke book getting ready to sing your lil' heart out. That's right, Sunday nights=karaoke at the Monkey! Why is this particular karaoke spot so awesome? Maybe it's cause Freddie the dj is always smiling when he calls your name, or maybe it's Rich the bartender who always remembers your preferred drink and rings the bell if he likes your song choice, or maybe it's the karaoke regulars who are like a new little Sunday night family cheering on every song, especially for the newbies. Oh - and did I mention that Sundays feature happy hour prices ALL DAY? Cause they do. Double oh - did I also mention that you're allowed to bring your dog here? Bow wow! Now as a warning, the night can get pretty crazy with people dancing, clapping, and singing along to every song. And you may find yourself saying "Just one more drink and one more song" until about 1a.m. But when you wake up Monday morning with that one random song that someone sang stuck in your head, it'll be worth it and you'll be thinking..."is it Sunday yet?!" read more

A local hangout spot located in the Tremont area. This is a good spot to grab a quick drink and be on your way. The interior bar area is rather small, along with the outdoor patio. The happy hour menu was rather long, which is always a plus! I have never dinned here, but rather only stop in for a drink! read more

Not really impressed. I found the drinks to be overpriced and lacking in alcohol content. Staff weren't terrible, but nothing to write home about, either. Didn't really enjoy the vibe, either. Really, there are much better places in Tremont to get your drink on. read more

I stumbled into this place drunk with a hillbilly during the Taste of Tremont and it was on.The first thing I notice were hipsters with dogs which isnt bad too me.The Patio is real nice but it doesnt have alot of shade or maybe it was the PBR I was drinking.The people here were friendly and the staff was very decent and fast...The only problem I had is was bumping into a bunch of hipster chicks and being forced to buy a round of drinks....Overall maybe if the place wasnt so packed I would of enjoyed it more read more

Nice looking place- ie. woodwork, lighting, clean, etc. Decent beer selection. A little too uppity for my taste though.

We were trying different places and someone suggested the Flying Monkey. Jessica, our bartender, was very nice...introduced herself, shook our hands & remembered our names throughout our time there. We were in town from Indiana and found it refreshing to find a bar that welcomes dogs! Even though you can bring in food, we wished they would at least offer a few appetizers (even chips or pretzels). We enjoyed ourselves while there and got to see the cutest little pup, named Bernie! i cannot believe i forgot to review this. by some freak incident, my friend asked me to meet her here. i knew something was up as we normally never, ever go to but two bars in tremont (and i have already reviewed them accordingly.) HOWEVER, i'm up for a friday night challenge and met her there. i felt like i was in an alternate universe as i walked in and got the up and down from so many creeps !! it was crowded, but the service was fairly good for its crowdiness. the bar itself is pretty and i would've been right at home had it not been full of.. i don't know what this place was even full of, but it was not my kind of crowd. i had magic hat #9 draft and it rocked (as #9 is wont to) and also overheard some dude order "3 shots of j-mo" which means any time i ask for jameson in the future, i will sarcastically say the same thing. i imagine that i may end up here again in the future, but it will not be my suggestion and i will probably hope for an invisibility cloak to avoid being crept on by creeps. read more

Just had the worst experience at a business ever. I'm a Canadian and toured the entire east coast and some of the Midwest. Been to many bars/pubs/clubs in different places around the US and the world and settled in Cleveland for my residency training. I went to the flying monkey with my wife and friend. My friend got the first round and I went up to get the second. The bar wasn't even busy and I was standing in a clear spot, at the bar. The 3 bartenders (two dressed up females and the guy that looked like he rolled out of bed) literally ignored more for 10mins. There was literally less than 10 customers served in that time span, all who arrived after me and were served before. Three different people stood beside me and were served. One of the bartenders literally even verbally acknowledged "just a second", served the person beside me then walked away and came back to serve others. I was wondering if this was all just in my head but the guys beside me were even aware that I was being blantantly ignored. Every packed venue at night serves everyone at the bar including me. I've never been ignored blantantly. It was slow at the bar, I was clearly visible and even acknowledged, and I had money. I looked around to see what made me different and the two things that came to my mind was that I wasn't all cleaned up for the evening cause I was moving into a new house today so I was taking out a friend to say thanks. But the one aforementioned bar tender was sporting the same outfit. And secondly, the color of my skin. I honestly thought that treemont was supposed to be young and hip, this diverse and open to differences. But I definitely stuck out. I couldn't help but feel that it came down to the color of my skin as no other clear indication was present. So that's my conclusion and a reason I'll be deferring my work colleagues from stopping by here when we plan to go bar hopping soon. Sorry flying monkey, you have a nice establishment but it's staffed with passively aggressive individuals whose intent in my opinion are racist. For this reason, I would discourage non-Caucasian to spend your hard earned dollars on establishments you'll enjoy and won't ruin your night because of how you look despite being 99.999999999% genetic similarity. read more

Flying monkey is our favorite neighborhood bar! They have a great relaxed atmosphere and we always have a blast! They do not have food so they welcome you to bring in food from restaurants near by such as Edisons pizza. read more

For my first and last time visit i was very disappointed! We entered the pub and talked to the server/bartender. And asked if we just sit in an open table or wait to be seated. She responded just sit anywhere is open. I pointed to to a table that was open that had 10-15 bottles on it and asked if we can sit there. She said sure that she was going to clean the table but that we had to order our drink orders at the bar first. As we're trying to order our drinks a group of 5 people came in and walked out to the patio took the table she just cleaned and put it with 3 other tables in the middle of the patio. I told the server/bartender that the guys had just took the table we where waiting for and sat down. She looked at us and said sorry first come first serve. Really! We waited for her to clean the table and then we got stuck with nowhere to sit. As we walked out she goes to the group of guys and hugs them. Will never come here or recommend this place to NO ONE!!! read more

What's not to like about a place that has $5 martini happy hour until 8 pm - even on Fridays! There's always a good crowd at the Flying Monkey and there's generally a fun atmosphere. It was too cold to hang out outside when I was there, but the patio seems really nice. I definitely plan on going back! read more

This place is kind of weird and your experience will vary a lot based on when you visit. I have been here on a Thursday night when there were just a few people in the bar and it was nice and quiet. Then I went in on a Sunday night and it was pretty much packed wall to wall with karaoke-ers. Surprisingly, most of them were good, and there are breaks in the karaoke for a "dance-off" which was awesome. Couldn't stay long enough to make it to the top of the list to sing, but I will surely come back for Karaoke. Seems like a good crowd. read more

The flying Monkey is not a bad place, i'm just a Tremont hater in general because a beer anywhere you go in Tremont costs you upwards of $4 for a draft. You cant go out in Tremont for a night without laying down $100 for dinner and drinks and it's just ridiculous. Love this little Tremont gem. Great patio area for the sunny days in Cleveland and very dog friendly too. The owners here are so welcoming and friendly as is the staff! Although they don't serve food they do offer menus for the other local joints in case you want to order in. Thursday nights they have a magician and shot specials. And if you aren't do anything on Sunday's you HAVE to come up they have all day happy hour and karaoke, best in Cleveland. So if you are in the neighborhood and want a cheap drink from a fun loving staff stop in to the monkey. read more

I love to walk in and have so many know my name and usually greet me with a smile as well as a HUGE HUG... :-) Service as well as the owners are TOP NOTCH... Fun Casual Bar! Stopped in for the first time and loved it! Might be because of the college feel it gave but overall enjoyed the experience. Very simple old bar feel with good loud music and a large drink selection. I can be picky when it comes to drinks but they have a large beer selection ( most importantly good ciders) and a large flavored liquor selection. The Flying Monkey is a great bar. And yes, there is even a flying monkey that comes out upon request! I have always found the crowd to be really mixed, so it's good people-watching. Can be pretty crowded on weekends, but if it's Browns season, there are free hot dogs during the game. That's the only time there's food though - drinks only. Wow, the Monkey is definitely Flying again. New owner, bartenders and attitude. The beer selection is top notch, the drinks are stiff and the crowd is muy loco. I have been there recently on Thursdays and Fridays for happy hour and foung the FMB to be the right spot to kick the weekend off. BTW-the decor is cool, beautiful hardwoods throughout and daily specials. I like the shot of the month-the Manatee. Truly a great bar for Clevelanders who enjoy cocktailing. I USED to be a big fan of the Flying Monkey Pub. Unfortunately, after the TASTE of TREMONT festival, I am no longer. The Taste of Tremont is a great venue! It's a way to bring people into the area and let them have a taste from the local restaurants. Unfortunately, The Flying Monkey decided it's an excellent way to GOUGE people. The beer prices were DOUBLE their normal...I ordered a beer, paid the $6 (no tip, sorry) split it among 6 of us and trotted down the street where the prices were the same as always. Okay, maybe I just went on a bad night. And for that, I'll allow two stars. Went out on a Thursday-- the bar was busy, but not crowded. There were two girls working the bar. They didn't seem to have any idea what was going on, and were slower than molasses. Took thirty minutes of sitting at the bar, frequently attempting to get their attention, before I got my first drink. Which was sloppily slammed on the bar thus spilling the drink. Fine, I get it. You're "busy." Finished the drink a short time later then proceeded to wait an hour AN HOUR (still sitting in a seat at the bar, still trying to flag these broads down) to get me a drink. (Normally I would have left 15 min before the first drink, but I was with friends, and blah blah blah.) So I finally get my second drink-- fed up and irritated that I'm sober after an hour and a half of drinking. Paid my tab sans tip for probably the worst service I have ever received in my life. The bartender--after miraculously quickly learning she did not receive a tip--chased me out of the bar (the quickest I had seen her move all night) and began yelling condescendingly, "Was there something wrong with your service tonight?" Explained to her the service I had received was far from deserving of any sort of compensation, and told her how I had to wait over an hour and a half. Then she replied (and this is verbatim), "yeah, and you'll wait next time too, bitch!" Here's the thing-- coming from someone who is a generous tipper (even for mediocre service)--I think the bartenders here need to realize that tips are for good service, and they are by no means required. If a tip was required, it would be included in the price. A tip is a thank you for your prompt, polite service--not lack thereof. Needless to say, I will never step foot in this place again. Management obviously needs to remind these ladies what customer service is about. read more

In the past, I really enjoyed the Flying Monkey. The patio is great during the sumer and it can be a fun place. However, lately the bartenders have been less than personable. I'm not sure what happened with the staff at the monkey, but I don't frequent places when the staff is rude and aloof. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

This is the go to place when visiting Cleveland and or Tremont. The bartenders know what they are doing and the 3 o'clock happy hour is always a plus! The owners have been in the industry for a long time and know what it takes to make a bar work. The outside patio is big enough to accommodate lots of people! I hosted a surprise birthday party and they were able to accommodate us at the back bar. You are able to bring your own catering people too!Dog friendly The big advantage about this place is proximity to do all the restaurants. i thought this was a very cool place. the craftsmanship that went into the bar and table tops was definitely the mark of an artisan. the belt-drive cieling fans are unbeleivably cool, but the bartender couldn't tell me where they came from. loved this place. great patio with tiki bar and tv-BONUS. read more
