This location was clean and well stocked with that you'll need on a road trip. When we talked in, there was an attendant cleaning the bathrooms. She was friendly and welcoming. I went to this Flying J on the way back from Arizona yesterday late morning. Restrooms are always clean. They have so many food choices. My favorite food here that I ordered was the two large pepperoni slices for $8.50. If you buy only one, then it's like $5.25. So I figured I would get the second one for my daughter for when she got home from work. All the workers here seem very nice, friendly, and hold a little conversation if they can. The lady at the cashier was very helpful. She greeted people on the way in and told us to have a blessed day on the way out. Excellent customer service here! This location is on Varner Road between Ramon Road and Bob Hope Drive off of the 10 Freeway. If you're ever in the area, please pass by and grab some drinks, food, or snacks. Also, make sure you get the Flying J/Pilot app. Currently, they are giving 5 cents off per gallon for gas. When I go to visit Palm Dessert my first stop when I arrive is the Flying J. I typically go there to use the restroom after the roughly 3-hour drive and get some snacks/ my favorite pass-time gum. I decided to join their rewards just because I go there about once or twice a month. It's good for 3 cents off gas, deals on certain items, and, if you get coffee, after I think the 5th or 6th one you get a free cup. The bathroom is always clean. They also have showers that a person could pay to use. I have never but I know a lot of truck drivers do. The employees are all pretty cool. There is one lady who doesn't seem like the nicest person but I can say she's probably tired because when I see her it's about 4 am. Flying J has all the things a 711 or AMPM has but much much. Flying J is right off the 10 freeway in Thousand Palms. Their prices are usually a few cents less expensive than the other gas stations around town. It's easy off and easy on from the freeway. Take the Bob Hope exit and head East. I can't review what is on the inside of the station because I live close by and have never had the need to purchase anything other than gas. In the area are also, In and Out, Del Taco, Carl's Jr, Denny's and a Goodies. Make this you destination shop going towards LA or AZ. read more

Typical Flying J truck stop. Plenty of parking and seperate gas kiosks and for trucks and cars. There was no restaurant attached to this one as it's on a busy stretch of plenty of fast food options. This gas station usually has some of the cheapest prices in the Palm Desert/Indio area. You wouldn't know it's there unless you knew about it, or you are a trucker. While the other cheaper gas stations recently jacked their price per gallon of unleaded up to 3.15, Flying J's is currently 3.09 and has been for a couple weeks. To people in other states, you may be going through sticker shock and asking yourself, "$3.09 is cheap?" For us in California, we're gouged at nearly every turn. So, where is Flying J? Exit I-10 at Ramon Rd. and head toward Thousand Palms. Turn left at the first stoplight and the station will be on the left. If i need to stop in Thousand Palms for gas or anything else that a convience store has to offer. I will come here. Just by coming in to get coffee at 6 in the morning i must have witnessed the most friendliest cashier ever. I didnt catch her name but i did tell her she was the most pleasant friendliest cashier that I have seen. She is very warm and pleasantly outgoing to all customers that came in. If this lady didn't like her job I would have never in a million years known. I hope Flying J recognizes these here are good at what they do and the represent their company well. Now Flying J does have a lot to choose from as in snacks and drinks. There is also hot food and cold sandwiches being sold here. I commute through this area everyday and usually like Flying Js. I've been to other ones, but for using the regular gas station I would not recommend coming here. For the area this station has some of the cheapest gas. However, I've always had problems using the machines outside. It makes me go inside to pay and while I don't mind sometimes the line is too long and I go down the street where I know my card will work. I won't come here again because I was almost mugged at this location. Great place for propane fills. It is double the price at Home Depot. I had 2 tanks to fill. And the best part is, they fill it for you. I even had a nice gentleman put it in my SUV. It is heavy once filled. Just buy your propane tank at Costco ( under $30) then come here to fill it. read more

Came here solely for personal RV dumping purposes. $10 fee. Unfortunately they did not take into account location... It isn't on the giant semi truck side which would have made sense, but instead it's on the personal gas filling side in a small inconvenient L shape corner, totally difficult for a truck towing a 26 ft trailer, can't imagine anything bigger. Plus it's just hashed lines near it so there was a truck just parked there getting snacks inside... And adjacent to the propane and air services so it was really a hassle to maneuver into around a bunch of other people. read more

My only concern is every time I come the homeless encampment out front usually two or three cars are always asking for money. Flying J is probably better than your average truck stop. It's clean, well-lit and well-stocked. You need a new CB antenna or mic? They got those. Plenty of snacks to choose from, too. $5.00 for two pieces of pizza may seem high when you can get a whole one around the corner at Domino's for about the same price, but at Flying J you don't have to wait 1/2-hour for it -- just grab it and go. Access has changed with the new interchange -- westbound, get off the I-10 at Exit 131 (Monterey), turn right and almost immediately go left about a mile or so -- just past Ramon Road. If you are going east, the new offramp is Bob Hope (officially Exit 130 but 129 miles would be closer to reality), then hang a left and turn right on Varner, which is the next light. But there is a right-turn lane so you don't have to stop. They do have about the cheapest gas in the area, at $3.399 (and you folks in Texas please don't faint at that) but when I say "cheapest" there is another connotation to that. My wife and I started filling up at Flying J to save a little money. After awhile, both of our vehicles started backfiring when we started them. Strange coincidence. A couple of mechanics suggested that it was the gas. We switched back to a better brand (I recommend Chevron, Texaco, 76, Conoco, and/or Shell) and the backfiring stopped. If we need to top off with 1/4-tank we may do it at Flying J, but we have stopped using Flying J (Pilot) gas exclusively. Maybe your car will run on it, but ours won't. You might also want to see how your mileage is with their gas vs. others. Not all gas is created equal, and your savings when you fill up may be offset by poorer mpg. Just a thought. read more

Unfortunately the customer service is non existent at this location. I went inside to let them know I needed propane and they told me to wait by the pump. Another lady came out and was waiting at the same time. 20 minutes later I called to ask if they were coming out and was told they had nobody to help us. Small but very clean facility. The drivers showers, restroom, and lounge are mordern, new, clean, stocked, and away from the foot traffic from customers which gives the drivers privacy and respect they deserve. Take advantage of one of the two massage chairs in the lounge and recharge the tightened, atrophied, constricted muscles from the 16 hour driving day (yes 16...come on, who we foolin) you won't regret it. You don't get the worthless, bottom feeding feeling of being a trucker that you get from most truck stops. Yes it's small but I'll take small and unhumiliating any day. Also, the parking layout offers some privacy as well if you want it. No restaurant but we truckers need the exercise anyways. There are a few excellent Mexican restaurants within 10 mins walking distance or a few fast food artery cloggers very near for those who don't want to live past 60. Okay how often do you walk into a convenience store and purchase an item that you know probably won't last? Most likely we've all done it once or twice, but being in a bind, we forfeit all common sense and purchase the crap. Needing an AUX cord so I can look Looney while jamming to my tunes, Flying J was the chosen stop to make this inevitable transaction. As I'm exiting, a kind voice from a beautiful, bubbly, woman asks ," Did you get a receipt for that just in case it stops working you can return it?" Of course I didn't, so she takes me back to the register, gives me the receipt while explaining I always need to do that. We just start talking and laughing over things in life that just came so naturally because she's really amazing and oozing with hospitality. Interections of this nature have to be posted since customer service today is watching someone talk on their telephone while you're in line and then rolling their eyes when you ask for help. Whoever the manager of this employee is , give this lady a raise! If not, hopefully she finds somewhere that will because she makes a huge difference! Shout out to you miss sunshine !! This place is a cash-cow prices high a slice if pizza at $3.49 when across the street at 7-Eleven you can purchase a whole pizza for $5.00. $2.00 for a bottle of water, over priced candy among everything else over priced best to take in a hot shower, dine elsewhere. Their dine in meals for $9 is worth it good home cooking, the food taste good large portions. Well lighted at night my only warning is not to give money to the homeless it breeds trouble. Just another Flying J, their all the same basically. High prices, long lines during peek hours. They never have enough staff at night and on Sundays. Oily dirty fuel islands and poor upkeep on the pumps. Most of the lines are leaking fuel from the breakaway fittings or leaky nossels. Slow wifi, is a waste of money. This Flying J has easy access to I-10. It has a large fueling area for trucks and RV's which is easy to get into and out of. The pumps are high volume so 100 gallons of diesel doesn't take forever to get. The place wasn't very crowded on a Saturday so we got in and out quickly.
