I went to this Flying J on the way back from Arizona yesterday late morning. Restrooms are always clean. They have so many food choices. My favorite food here that I ordered was the two large pepperoni slices for $8.50. If you buy only one, then it's like $5.25. So I figured I would get the second one for my daughter for when she got home from work. All the workers here seem very nice, friendly, and hold a little conversation if they can. The lady at the cashier was very helpful. She greeted people on the way in and told us to have a blessed day on the way out. Excellent customer service here! This location is on Varner Road between Ramon Road and Bob Hope Drive off of the 10 Freeway. If you're ever in the area, please pass by and grab some drinks, food, or snacks. Also, make sure you get the Flying J/Pilot app. Currently, they are giving 5 cents off per gallon for gas. I am able to get 10 cents off per gallon with one of the many deals they offer through the end of March!

Love the fresh grind machines to help get ready for the everyday grind.

The Flying J's rule these mountains! I think it's smart how they have a Flying J at the North end in Kern county and this one at the South end in Valencia county. I stand by their motto, "Best Coffee on the interstate."

Meh... Just another truck stop. They do have restaurants within walking distance which is always a good thing. Cool little area. The casino is right over the hill. Not too much parking for the truckers. Nothing really to report.

The gas at this ARCO Ampm on the Northwest corner of Monterey and Varner is super cheap (not just…read morecheap for being in the desert). Best of all, there is easy access on and off the 10 Freeway off the Monterey Ave exit. Just be aware that as an ARCO you can pay for your gas with cash or an ATM card (for a $.35 fee) but they don't accept The restrooms were clean, but out of paper towels and there was no interior door handle. I was going to dock them a star for that, but the cashier and male employee working there were super friendly and went out of their way to help me find what I was looking for. I really wanted pretzels, but couldn't seem to find any. One of the employees walked around the store with me (the chips were spread out into several different spots) and he found the pretzels just after I gave up. He got extra points from me for persistence. There is a Chase ATM inside if you need to pick up some cash, and a propane tank exchange outside ($24.99 with exchange tank, $59.99 without). This could be very important if you're planning a holiday barbecue or camping trip. There is an air and water refilling station on the Northeast corner of the lot. The soda fountain carried both Coke & Pepsi products for those who have a preference. There were three different diet options: Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, and Diet Dr. Pepper. This is a very convenient refueling station if you're headed out to Palm Springs or to points farther East. I'd definitely stop here in the future.

Always clean, organized and not so crowded compared to other locations…read more I asked Amy for some very reasonable assistance at the self-checkout tonight and sadly she was extremely dismissive, a bit rude and kinda stormed off without helping me. Luckily Ray stepped up and was more than happy to assist with grabbing me a box while my hands were full. His customer service definitely made up for Amy's lack of. Hopefully management keeps this in mind when considering promotions. :)

Stopped by this Costco in Palm Desert to fill up on gas, and go inside (if not too crowded). Found…read moreit to be so less crowded than our neighborhood SoCal ones. Gas has reached over $6 a gallon now, so actively looked for a Costco while traveling from Palm Desert to Joshua Tree. The entrance to the gas station is not meant for high volume, with the eight lanes (4 islands, 2 pumps each so no need for parallel parking in a middle spot) having space for 3 individual cars behind. Once those fill up, there is no space except to go out to the street. Price was significantly less than the surrounding stations, and the paying/pumping was exactly the same as every other Costco (one tap if you have the Citi Costco card). We did go inside the Costco, with the mandatory membership card tap to enter. Once we got our few items, lines weren't too bad with additional checkers using hand held scanners to individually scan each item in the cart, eliminating need to have to put any items on the conveyor. It does make it faster...it's not Amazon Fresh that needs the RFID 'scan the whole cart at once' technology, but Costco. The food court is inside and wasn't too crowded, and would have stopped if we didn't have other plans. The $1.50 hot dog/drink special always tempts me.

While dispensing the petrol into my car, I decide to walk in as I have heard about different food items available on the go. I picked up a breakfast burrito for my wife and a Cuban Sandwich for yours truly. Being of Cuban descent, I have had so many Media Noches and standard Cuban's. The sandwich I picked up wrapped and ready was $6.49 and DELICIOUS! Was it gourmet? No, but for the price and the amount an incredible value. I know where I will be going when I get the next wild hair.

And the drink selection was incredible from water and soda to energy drink and healthy drinks to even a beer cooler and a hard alcohol section if that's what you're in the mood for! And I asked the worker if they were all locations were set up the same and he said yes! So I highly recommend this business and I'll definitely be back again!
