Intro- like seafood? Then make it snappy! A pretty nice environment to get your water dwelling food fix! Service- the service was standard. Not anything beyond amazing, and nothing done poorly so can't complain about that. Food- I've probably been here about 5 times and every time had me pretty satisfied. Most of the time I would get the po-boys and I think for that, I've tried the popcorn shrimp, popcorn crawfish, and popcorn oyster ones?! Those were pretty good! The breading is relatively light and the seafood was always tender. They also give you a generous amount of the protein so expect for your sandwich to be overflowing! The last thing I had was the jumbalaya and that was pretty nice. It's like gumbo and rice. I prefer razzoo's for gumbo but this wasn't all too bad. Anyway, the thing I really loved from here was the oysters and how it's cheaper than a couple of other places I've been to! The market price here has been most kind~ All in all, the food is above decent! Conclusion- if you guys like seafood, this is definite stop-by. I've visited one other location besides this one.This spot is family friendly, and easily accomadate large groups for gatherings. Everyone I've encountered always had a pleasant attitude from answering the phone with orders and dining inside. There is plenty to choose from on the menu, however the food is not impressive. It lacks in flavor and everything tastes bland. I can't see myself returning anytime soon if ever. This time I around I ordered the whole fried catfish with shrimp and a side of coleslaw. They forgot my coleslaw, but it wasn't too big of a deal. They did bring it out after asking for it twice. It was just typical slaw The The fish on the other hand was fried to PERFECTION with the right amount of crispiness. My shrimp was perfectly cooked as well. The only issue was the seasoning. Such a waste of perfection, so disappointing.....I just tossed my plate to the side after that. I see potential, if they ever get rid of the bland bug. 3 star rating is directed at the lack of heat in this place in the winter time. Seriously. It's cold in Texas from November to March, sometimes April. Does six months of cold weather not warrant heating your restaurant? I cannot understand why they would not want their customers comfortable in freezing weather. We would go more often during these months but our kids and even guests don't want to endure it. It's miserable especially if you have to sit in the next section over. My family and I visited after church. We ordered a 1/2 oyster which were really good. A cup of Crawfish Chowder - was served lukewarm and the cream bases was broken. It did had a good flavor to it thou. My wife got the catfish sandwich and she said it was ok a 5 on a scale of 10. French fries that came with her sandwich or the kids food was all not fresh or hot. Ordered 4lbs of crawfish and when I got home I noticed the crawfish, potatoes, and corn were not seasoned. They boiled the crawfish without any seasoning. The crawfish were not purged and some of them had mud still on them. I have never ordered crawfish that came without any seasoning. I am not sure if that is how they come? I have had good and bad experiences with Flying Fish. The good experiences have been when I order the fried food. For one the portions are large and the sides are large, and for the most part delicious. The food is cooked fast and the drink selection is pretty solid. The bad experience I had was when I ordered grilled food. I am a huge fan of grilled fish, so I figured the grilled tilapia would be a sure winner. It wasn't. It was bland and i ended up having to add condiments to it just to give it a little something. I feel it needs to be seasoned prior to grilling to give it a little flavor. I also tried the grilled catfish and this was even more bland. I don't know, maybe I should have tried blackened? Good fried seafood. Ordinary grilled seafood. Give it a try. read more

I love their hush puppies! When I went recently, the line was long so they started passing out free samples so we could snack while we waited. My favorite thing to get there is the 2 catfish fillets with fries and hushpuppies. Their catfish is on point and doesn't have a fishy taste to it at all. They have changed their fries from regular sized to little strings and I personally like the little ones better because they don't get soggy as fast. My Dad and brother have gotten their snow crab legs the past 2 times we've gone and they were disappointed the second time because the meat kept falling apart on them.. the legs were too soft. The atmosphere is very chill with lots of pictures of people and their catches along with a whole wall of singing bass fish. I believe if you bring one in, you'll get your next meal free! Not Customer Service oriented. Would not allow use of last months coupon but the current Months coupon does not come out until the 4 th or 5th of each month. Manager on duty was rude and just laughed at me when I said I have used expired coupons before. I have eaten at this location since it opened. I will not be back to this location. The company has reached out to me and basically said use of their coupon is a bonus that they give their customers and they do not offer an apology for what happened. In fact I was told that they hand pick their employees and they find it unlikely that one of their employees was rude to me. This place was an ok experience, but not amazing. The bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeno's were so overcooked, to the point of flavorless shriveled up dry bacon. I ate one and returned the rest. I ordered Jambalaya, not great but good. My husband had the "Snappy" grilled Grouper. He said the snappy flavor overpowered the Grouper and it was a little overcooked as well. The grilled veggies were good as well as the Key Lime Pie for dessert. The decor was fun and my husband really liked The Billy Bass Adoption Center display. Sorry, this place just doesn't improve. It is just barely average. If it is fried, fried, fried ( unimaginatively fried) you are looking for, then this is your place.
