With a thick corn bread style breading rather than basic batter fry and a killer lemonade, this place is rather good. I got the combo #10 so I got a basket of everything essentially (minus the side dishes like okra). The catfish is just cooked and still has the appropriate tight, meaty tone. The oysters are sweet rather than overly salty and not at all leaky, though I've had fresher. The fries are flat cut UK style chips instead of shoestrings or classic wedges, though they need a bit of seasoning. The shrimp are very hearty and butterflied just enough to make a very toothsome mouthful most people can't eat in a single bite. Everything needed lemon and salt and hotsauce, but the crunch was very satisfying. Portion sizes were good. Staff is unprofessional, not in a rude way, but in a very friendly, home style way, just walking in and out of the kitchen and around the register areas, working at a steady and relaxed pace. I'm unsure of when, but I get the feeling that they changed owners because other posts mention this is a black owned business, but I did not meet a single black employee. Furthermore, this place IS open on Sundays, and they even have a sign saying so up front, so that makes me think that there's definitely new management. I Did meet several older gentlemen though who say they go there all the time, and I can really see why the regulars like this place. Should you take a hot date here? Went to crazy catfish today on Centerville road in Garland ordered a whole catfish and six shrimp two lemonades when my order was picked up they did not give me my two lemonades and when the food arrived home it was soggy it was nasty tasting and no lemonade this is unacceptable I have always shopped there and the food has always been good but I called back and talk to the lady that took my order on the phone her name is Ashley and ask her what happened to my lemonade her answer was oh I forgot to give them to you but you charged me $30.90 when I asked to speak to a manager she said there was no manager on duty and I said well I will call back tomorrow she said we're closed what am I supposed to do about the money I spent the time I spent to get it and get it home and it is very disappointed with the order and no lemonade. read more

There's a Mexican guy that wears his hat backwards that's been there for easily 20 years very hospitable. It's hard to find a good fish place anymore. But I have to say Crazy Cat takes the edge off when I'm craving fried fish and oysters. They do pretty good for a fast food/sit in restaurant. The food at this location has always been hot and fresh to order (Centerville Location) I really enjoy the oysters (request how you want them...fried soft, medium or hard). If I had to make a suggestion it would be to add the oysters on other combinations plates (it's too restrictive...I don't want to be required to get shrimp when I only want fish & oysters). There only one combo plate w/fish & oysters (but you only get 4 oysters). It would be nice to add a few more plate obtains, I.e., 6 or 8 oysters). They are small and expensive - so it would be nice to get the best bang for your buck! read more

Brother and I got the 2 Catfish plus 4 shrimp dinner I added coleslaw to mine both came with fries and hush puppies which are made in the restaurant . Sister-in-law got the shrimp dinner that had 4 shrimp and she got coleslaw instead of fries . We all got iced tea. The dinners came with cocktail sauce and tartare sauce. I really expected this to be good. I had heard that it was, but my experience just wasn't so. I felt like the fish was undercooked. If not, it was just very... Moist but not in a good way. The breading was coming off in big sheets off of the fish. Hush puppies were alright. Fries were good. Shrimp was Meh but I don't love butterflied shrimp anyway because I feel like it's more easily overcooked and dry...which it was. I love Seafood so I have been to a few. However going to crazy catfish is by far my favorite. Its a small place but the food is mmm mmm mmm.. Also the Owner Peter is just one of the most humble employers I see to his employees. I took my mother to eat there one day. And he just comes and starts talking to her and even went and got her a slice a cake. Just because. So no frills that if you scare easily, this may not be the place for you. Pricing is affordable and you do get a fair serving of food. I ordered the 2 piece catfish plate with hushpuppies and fries. Unfortunately, the food was nothing much different than the frozen selection variety. The fries seemed to be coming from oil that needed changing. The hushpuppies were the size of a medium marble and lacking any distinguishing flavor. The fish was indeed piping hot but also dry and one of the fillets was 90% batter 10% meat. I was craving a filet o' fish. Very random, very rare for me. I just couldn't bring myself to go to McDonald's though, so the yelper in me decided to try this place instead. I sat and watched las noticias on univision while I waited for my food to be prepared. There is a big sign that says "please be paitent so your food is fresh". They say it's ready and I grab my bag and drive home quick so I can eat!! I open it up to see that they are really cheap when it comes to the tartar sauce (-1 star), the next bad thing is that my fries are warm--not hot and i don't even live far! WTH? I suck it up and eat a few, but it's not good. I end up having to put the whole thing in the oven. Big disappointment. I was so excited about my food and then I have to go and cook it myself when I am already starving! Everything had a good taste, just not hot like I would expect my food. Whew.... let me start by saying that any time I don't see Cajun people frying the fish when I walk in, I get nervous. My nerves were right. Let's start with the good stuff though. The technique of cooking the food was perfect! They know how to fry catfish, okra, oysters, and hushpuppies, which is what I ordered. The food took about 7-8 minute to come out and the food presentation was nice. But let's get to the taste of the food. I want to preface this by saying that my family is from "Cajun country" Louisiana, so I consider myself a catfish connoisseur. This fish was SO bland, I went back up to the counter to ask if they had some seasoning. He proceeded to tell me that they only have salt and pepper. Huh? No onion powder, garlic powder? Or Tony's? Or Lawry's? It tastes like they fried the fish in bland cornmeal, not even the Louisiana fish fry corn meal, which would have helped out the flavor. The cooks need to go and be great and cook something they are good at because seasoning fish/seafood is not one of them. I would not recommend this place at the top of the fried catfish food chain. We swung by here on a whim and got a 6 fillet meal. The fries are AMAZING and the hush puppies too! I've only had hush puppies from Long John Silvers...so in comparison, these were really good.
